Gordon Ramsay should do a show where he goes to schools and tastes school lunches then helps the lunch staff imrpove their food.

Michelle Obama should be a guest on every episode so he can yell at her and tell her how much the food is shit, since she was the one that made school lunches so awful.

Now THAT is something I’ll pay tax dollars for.

I’m so tired of hearing this. No. No she didn’t. Your school districts did.

Michelle Obama’s provisions did things such as limit the amount of sodium lunches could contain and set minimum fruit and vegetable portions. These things on their own did not make school lunches worse. It was districts fighting back against having to give a shit about what their students ate, especially low-income and food insecure students who depended on these lunches for their daily food intake.

I think its important that her program was very helpful to low income and people of color, and helped get them healthy lunches.

School districts were told to have healthier food.

But healthier food that still tastes good tends to cost more and/or would have required the schools to cut their (very lucrative) contracts with food providers and instead pay their cafeteria workers better and have them actually cook food from scratch. But they didn’t want to do that, and school boards didn’t want to pay for it, and the companies that sell bulk frozen food to schools for profit didn’t want to lower their profit margins and THAT made the food taste shitty and NONE of that is Michelle Obama’s fault. 

Gordon Ramsey and Michelle Obama should co-host a show where they just go absolutely ape shit on school districts for their lunches

Golden Girls is really deceptive because it’s downright savage and crude humor hidden in a show you think was a boring sitcom about old ladies.

I mean, there’s more sex jokes than some r-rated comedies. 

And it’s not just sex jokes for the sake of being dirty. Much of the sex talk was about women owning their sexuality and this was a group of women who wanted different types of intimate relationships. At a time when most shows where saying there’s only one way to be a woman this show had women with varying viewpoints living happily together. Their age also gave them a sense of authority. No viewer could say “she’s young, she’ll regret having done/not done that when she’s older.”

Why do you think they deserve it

Well shelter is a basic need, and would at the very least allow them a place where they can get back on their feet. Food water and shelter are necessary for a healthy body and psychology. There’s also the fact that they’re people too, and a little help goes a long way in making a decent community. There’s plenty of reasons

Yeah they need stuff, but why does every homeless person deserve 0.5% of someone’s income

You pass by a small crowd of hungry children, and decide you’d rather 455 apples go rotten than give them to some snotty brat who isn’t your problem.

It doesn’t matter how hard you’ve worked for your 500 apples, or that you aren’t the parent of any of those kids. in the moment you decide to walk away, it doesn’t matter why they’re hungry, or who owes who what.

You had the opportunity to help people, you had the ability to help people, you had the resources to help people. You had everything you needed to make a small, tiny little difference in someone’s life, and you decided not to.

Reminder that Bezos told a reporter “The only way I can see to deploy this much financial resource is by converting my Amazon winnings into space travel[.]” He’s pretty open about the fact that he’s got more money than he’ll ever need and doesn’t even know what to do with most of it. There are a lot of good things he *could* do with it. But he apparently can’t imagine using it to help people or this planet.
