Also maybe the best, easiest, and most important way to cut Google out of your life is to stop using chromium-based browsers because people using non-chromium browsers are the only reason that Google isn’t setting every single modern web standard and the fact that MOST internet users use Chromium browsers means that Google is de facto setting every single modern web standard.

Other search engines do not return the same results and sometimes that’s frustrating but if you get used to just using duckduckgo as your first option and Google if that doesn’t give you an answer as a second option then you’re still doing a great job (because seriously, how many of your searches are just for basic information like spelling or history that will pop up on wikipedia or dictionary.com - DDG will totally do that even if it isn’t ideal for current news searches)

CryptPad! CryptPad is collaborative, it’s basically a zero-knowledge version of google docs and I love it.

Collaborators don’t even need to have an account to edit.

Use two browsers and use the office account and the google products in one browser (or if you’re using firefox you can use account containers and create a specific “google” container that you use google/microsoft/facebook/whatever weird privacy violating monopoly is hosting your meetings in and keep it separate from the rest of your online life).

Emma opens another cabinet, looking inside to the wine glasses and tumblers, before closing it. She’s been keeping her bag of candy in the cabinet where they keep their plates and bowls, hidden at the very top behind some reusable water bottles. Killian is a healthy eater, always stocking the fridge with fruits and vegetables and food she doesn’t think is actually real food, so she didn’t think she had to hide her junk food that well.

Hide it, yes. Hide it well, no.

Until now.

“What was that, love?”

Emma slams another cabinet closed and turns to look at Killian. He’s walking out of the bathroom, chest still damp, and only has a white towel wrapped around his waist. When he first moved into the apartment six months ago after Ruby abandoned Emma to go live with Dorothy (live with, get married to, same thing), Emma was taken aback by the lack of clothes wearing Killian partakes in. He’s an attractive man. She’s not blind. He goes to the gym as often as she does, but mostly, he spends a lot of time doing heavy lifting at his job as a contractor since he apparently likes to be hands-on, literally. His body is toned, and the son of the bitch knows it. He also knows he’s got the face to be able to get away with a lot of…well, a lot.

At first, it was all disconcerting, but now, he could walk around with his dick out and Emma wouldn’t care.

What she cares about is where her candy is. That’s the real priority. But she knows Killian will try to use his lack of clothes to distract her. Never worked in the past, not gonna work now, bud.

“My candy,” Emma repeats. “Where is it?”

i get the wanting to meet people, i really do. the pandemic has been super isolating for ALL OF US. but people are still dying and sick. my cousins are quarantining right now because they went to visit their aunt in another city and their aunt just didn’t tell them that she was sick so now, because of her, all five of my relatives are sick, not including the others she came into contact with. one of my classmates from high school, who was nineteen, just died from COVID today. in my tiny little town in pennsylvania, we went from 90 to 241 cases in a week because people just aren’t taking it seriously. and this is happening EVERYWHERE in america.

don’t be a fucking selfish jackass and travel, especially not from a whole other continent. it’s not just you that you’re endangering. there are other people, too.

Covid is real. It’s not a joke. Please take it seriously and don’t be selfish.
