As fate would have it, I was just talking to my kids about Stephen Hawking the other day. They were very impressed. My six-year-old son was particularly touched, and proceeded to draw this portrait.

RIP Dr. Hawking. May your spirit fly free, and may the mysteries of the universe be revealed to you.

Anthony Gonzalez - Proud Corazón (From "Coco"/Audio Only)

Seriously, one of the best movies of the past year. “Coco” made me cry, and it takes a really hardcore movie to do that! I have a “missing” great-grandfather of my own, whose fate and even whose real name we still do not know. An entire, empty branch of our family tree begins with him. And for a member of a faith that centers around the concept of family ties enduring beyond death, that’s really hard to deal with. So I guess it hit a little too close to home. Aside from that, I think this is really one of Pixar’s best, touching on themes of love, family and memory that we haven’t seen since “Up”. And the music! Oh, there are no words. Stupendous job, Pixar!!!

And we’re back! Sorry I’ve been gone so long, 2017 was quite a busy year! We saw the solar eclipse from the path of totality (so awesome!), started a new school year, hosted holiday celebrations, said goodbye to a prophet of God (and this morning, said hello to a new one!), and... we’re expecting a new baby in April! Things are going well, though I’ve had little motivation to draw for myself lately. I’m trying to turn that around, but here’s some random stuff I drew over the last summer in the meantime.

listen… before you use profanity, think to yourself: ‘could this sentence be complete if I don’t use this word?’ I guarantee you that, yes, it will be complete about 99% of the time. we are going farther downhill as life goes on and we are unfortunately losing what class we have left. there will be people around who aren’t comfortable with those words, who don’t want to read or hear them. so, please, be courteous to everyone around you and think before you speak inappropriately.
