The Fallen child

Frisk nodded. They were glad to hear that Chara had a happy life with their whole family. It made them really happy, they hoped they could stay happy for a long time. “I don’t have a family anymore”, they said after a moment of silence.

  Chara paused hearing this, it sounded like Frisk lost their family. Could that be why they seemed to care so much about Sans?  They hugged Frisk gently without really thinking about it, they felt really bad for Frisk. They felt a bit embarrassed, but they felt that Frisk needed one badly. “It’s okay Frisk, you could always make a new one! Sorta like how I did! I know you can do it! Even if you can’t find them, they will find you!”

Frisk was surprised by the sudden hug, but they smiled and hugged them back. They were glad to have met Chara, they were so nice and caring. “Yeah. I’m sure I can make a new one someday”, they agreed and nodded. They really hoped at least, that they would have a family again.

Chara felt even more proud of themselves, Frisk must have been going through a lot, even though they aren’t showing it. Sorta how they did, at least on the surface. They really deserved happiness if this is true. “If anything I’m sure Mom would let you stay! Though we should focus on finding that Sans person first! They seem really important to you!”

Frisk nodded. They were glad to hear that Chara had a happy life with their whole family. It made them really happy, they hoped they could stay happy for a long time. “I don’t have a family anymore”, they said after a moment of silence.

“Hm”, Frisk hummed in thought. They wondered what they could ask, they knew so much after all already. “Do you have any siblings?”, they asked, curious. Chara had only mentioned Toriel until now after all.

“Yea, I do! His name is Asriel,  and he is Toriel’s child! Though saying the Dreemurrs adopted me, hes sorta my brother now! Though at times he can be really soft about things. Other than that he is really fun to play with!” Chara would have called him a crybaby but that wouldn’t be nice to him, so they refrained on that one. Being kind can get you far after all!

“Oh, that’s nice!”, Frisk smiled. It was so nice to hear about Asriel from Chara, and such nice things as well. It was just great, since they knew how much Flowey missed his sibling.

“Do you live with your whole family?”, they continued to ask.

  “Well I live with Mr-” They paused for a moment snickering, they shouldn’t share a silly name like that. “I live with Asgore Toriel and Asriel! Unless there is someone I don’t know about, I live with my whole family!”   Chara really didn’t understand why ask this question, though they just assumed Frisk wanted to know more about their life. They did seem to enjoy hearing about it after all.

“Hm”, Frisk hummed in thought. They wondered what they could ask, they knew so much after all already. “Do you have any siblings?”, they asked, curious. Chara had only mentioned Toriel until now after all.

Toriel was the best mother you could have after all, they really believed that. Even though the Toriel they knew was so much different from the one that others knew.

“Well, you’re just as wonderful, Frisk! I can tell that already! You and Mom would get along wonderfully!” Chara knew they would, but then again she got along with almost everyone. They couldn’t think of a person she didn’t get along with, well other then when they wanted more chocolate than they should eat, but they wouldn’t count that.

Frisk giggled softly. “I do hope so!”, they said and smiled happily at Chara. If they met her while walking around, they would love to stay and talk for a while! They did wonder a bit though, they had never met Chara before. They wondered if they were in the past.

Chara couldn't help but to smile, the other just seemed so happy. They chuckled a bit continuing to lead the other deeper into the ruins, the entire underground would love this Frisk, they were just too kind. Chara was glad to meet them, it at the very least made their day better. “Well, uh? Do you happen to have any questions? I’d be glad to answer what I can!”

“I’m sure she is a really nice and caring lady. After all, she did raise such a wonderful child like you”, Frisk said and smiled brightly. Toriel was the best mother you could have after all, they really believed that. Even though the Toriel they knew was so much different from the one that others knew.

“Well, you’re just as wonderful, Frisk! I can tell that already! You and Mom would get along wonderfully!” Chara knew they would, but then again she got along with almost everyone. They couldn’t think of a person she didn’t get along with, well other then when they wanted more chocolate than they should eat, but they wouldn’t count that.

“It’s alright, I have my jacket”, Frisk replied, pulling their jacket a little closer around themselves again. It was big warm and cozy, just perfect. And they were used to the mustard and bones smell, so much that they probably would miss it if they wouldn’t have it anymore.

“If you say so I’ll believe you, though would you need anything else? I don’t mind sharing with you, its nice to share to someone as kind as you.” They assumed that the jacket was like their own heart locket, saying how close it seemed Sans were to them. They really hoped that they would be able to find them, they didn’t deserve to lose a friend scary or not.

“I would just like to look around, if you want to accompany me”, Frisk answered and smiled at Chara. They would love to explore here, since this timeline was much different then theirs. They would love to explore with Chara, or let them show then around!

“Oh sure! I’d love to escort you around, just remember to ask for anything if you need it.” Chara took the other’s hand carefully, beginning to walk slowly to ensure that the other could follow them. It wouldn’t be good if they tripped over something they couldn’t see after all, as such Chara did their best to watch where they walked. They enjoyed walking with someone for a change, it felt peaceful for once. 

Frisk laughed softly and nodded. “You’re really sweet”, they told them and smiled at Chara. They were such a nice child honestly, they were glad that they had met them. It was great to have found someone so nice to help them.

“Are you alone here?”, Frisk asked them then, curiius.

   Chara wasn’t entirely used to getting complements from a human, but they wouldn’t complain it made them feel proud of themselves after all. Though, they enjoyed finally meeting a kind human, other than themselves of course, but the question they asked brought a few bad memories but they did their best to ignore the memories. “Well, you’re here! So I’m not alone silly. Though other than that no one really goes into the Ruins other than my Mom! Some people call her Queen, and others call her Toriel, but I’d prefer just to call her Mom.”

They shrugged in response to the later answer, if something it could be impossible to make the other talk about their past, or at least they didn’t believe it would be possible “Well you at least most know how to defend yourself? What if a human were to attack you?” Not that they themself would do so… yet, but they were curious to what degree this Chara was a pacifist. Was it just that they wouldn’t hunt for monsters or were they full on pacifist? If it was the later maybe they could harm them with no trouble later down the line.

Chara was confused by this question what did it matter if they could defend themselves? Should they tell the other? A part of them didn’t entirely want to answer this, when would a human even attack them again? Unless they were planning something...Something didn’t sound quite right about them.  “What does it matter? Not like humans come to the underground every day or something.” They really didn’t want to just give the answer to them, the less they know the better as of now. Though they doubt that would change anytime soon.

“I didn’t come up with the name, it’s just a number to quantify the number of monsters that you’ve killed…” Their voice was filled with frustration, of course it wasn’t a game? Why would it be? A term doesn’t make something into a stupid game. Some people really were idiots “I’m sure you would enjoy increasing your LOVE…” They guessed that Chara wouldn’t enjoy it but at least Frisk would enjoy it if the other did try to increase their LOVE “Anyway, why did you visit MT. Ebott anyhow?”

“Oh? Just sounds like that term for the games they played on the surface, though again I rather pass on increasing my ‘LOVE’ and ‘EXP’. I’m not the one for violence.” Hearing the other annoyed didn’t really bug them, they really didn’t expect any more from a human at this point, intolerant as always. “I would rather not talk about why I went to MT. Ebott, not that I would have to anyhow.” Chara didn’t want to tell anyone why they went here, they hated thinking about it about all. It brought bad memories after all.

“Huh, I never thought about that”, Frisk never thought about things like that, accidentally eating one of the flowers that grew on them. And they could imagine that getting poisoned by buttercups was really bad for you.

“Maybe that’d be a better idea, it’s okay for me”, Frisk said and smiled. They wouldn’t mind letting the other, well, feed them the candy.

“You should be more careful then, someone like you doesn’t deserve to be hurt. Though just keep your mouth open for a moment, so I can do it.” With that Chara got ready to put the candy into the other’s mouth, when they would open it again they would carefully put the piece of candy into Frisk’s mouth. Though the thought of stopping a possible danger made them quite happy.

Frisk opened their mouth and let the other put the candy in it. They smiled happily afterwards.

“Thank you!”, they said happily. They were really happy to have met Chara, they were extremely nice! Maybe they could become friends!

“Anytime, Frisk! Just remember to be careful. Would you happen to still be cold? I could let you use one of my blankets, my backpack should have one.” Seeing the other happy made them smile greatly, they really made someone other than the Dreemurr’s smile. It felt wonderful, they wondered if they could get others to smile like this too. They were still thankful for Frisk showing them that other humans can be kind as well, sharing a few things couldn’t hurt as a thank you to them.

“I don’t blame you… I never heard of it until I entered the Underground…EXP stands for Execution Points… which makes your soul stronger…” They shrugged, maybe it sounded a bit odd and they weren’t even sure how it worked in detail but at least they knew that killing meant that you could survive and do as you pleased.

“Execution Points? This isn’t a game, and I’m sure that wouldn’t count as saying out of trouble so I’ll pass.” Chara didn’t entirely believe in the whole EXP thing, even then someone would surely get mad at them something they didn’t want down here. They had to stay a good child even if it meant in being kind toward rude people.  Kindness can get you far after all, at least that is what they believed in.

“I’m sure you can do it! He’s more grumpy than really evil after all”, Frisk said and giggled softly.

“Monster candy? I didn’t have any for really long! It’d be really nice of you”, they hadn’t gotten any monster candy before leaving the ruins on their own this time, and the last time was really long ago.

Chara was glad to hear that they were more grumpy than evil, that would at least make things easier to go up to them if anything. Though hearing that they would accept the monster candy make Chara’s smile grow greatly, they loved sharing it gave them a nice feeling as they did so after all. They offered out the monster candy before thinking about the other’s eyes.

“Monster candy is the best, but It must be hard to see through those flowers. Would you like me to put it in your hand?”

“I can’t see at all…”, Frisk admitted quietly. They nodded at Chara’s question though, holding out one of their hands a little towards the other. Flowers looked out from under their sleeve, some already on their palm as well.

“O-oh you can’t? I’m awfully sorry to hear that though, there is flowers on your hands, I don’t think it would be safe to eat it with that on it. I don’t someone as nice as you to get hurt by that. Maybe I could put it in your mouth instead? Unless you don’t feel comfortable with that then I’ll just give you it, u-um but that is up to you.” Chara felt a bit bad for Frisk, they weren’t able to see because of the flowers, but they were more concerned about if it was safe for them to eat from their hands like that. What if they ended up biting the flower instead, they remembered what happened to Asgore when he ate two buttercup before, they wouldn’t want their new friend to feel that way as well.

“Yeah it’s a lot better down here than on the surface to say the least” They themselves found the surface pretty frustrating, people reacted so strongly to harm and it was harder protect yourself up there as LOVE didn’t mean much on the surface. “You also can gain EXP down here…another nice thing about the Underground…”

“E...X....P? I don’t believe I’ve heard of this before?” They thought about the video games that the humans played while they were on the surface, how would video games even relate to the underground let alone getting EXP even work in the underground? They just couldn’t understand where this was going.
