i get people don’t like to pay for things that were once free. but paying people fairly and making a survivable living while making cool things is HARD. even with ads. i think what the fellows are cooking up will be well worth it tbh!!!
Be for fucking real right now. No one said they don't deserve to be paid fairly. Fans also deserve to be TREATED fairly.
If they need to move behind a paywall to keep the company alive and pay people fairly, that's whatever. But fans have already been disappointed in the content since Watcher launched. It's infrequent, inconsistent, it all feels forced, and it has none of the charm of the old Buzzfeed videos. It is CERTAINLY not worth $6/month.
They can choose to move behind a paywall, and WE can choose to not pay for it. If they're not producing content we feel is valuable enough to pay for, they either need to make more content that their audience values, or their company is going to go down the toilet. That's just the free fucking market system. We are not OBLIGATED to fund ANY company.
