one of the things he’s particularly fond of is flexing his bicep just as you’re resting your head on the muscle. you thought nothing of it at first, simply thinking he was getting comfortable, until the action became just a bit too blatant.

“you stop that,” was all you said that night, giving his arm a weak slap.

diluc merely snickered.

another irksome thing he developed was a penchant for was brushing his hand against your body whenever he wanted to walk past you in a tight space, such as during the tavern’s peak hour, under the guise of simply moving you aside.

“apologies, darling,” diluc whispered one time, a hand gliding over your back. “you’re blocking the exit.”

you shot him a deadpan look. “mind explaining why you’re pulling me towards you, then?”

but his favourite thing to do is openly shower you with affection— something that doesn’t happen very often with a man so proper as he.

diluc finds that this way was by far the best to rile you up. it works like a charm, if he dare be so honest with himself.

it’s at the tavern’s back exit, figures obscured behind crates of wine, where you’re pinned between the wall and your lover— hands gripping at his shoulder for purchase after a long make-out session.

diluc’s chest heaves as he comes back down to earth. his hands rest on your hips, a warm comfort despite the chill of midnight.

“you were awfully handsy today,” you manage. it’s awfully difficult to keep yourself composed with how dizzy the kiss made you. it feels as if you’re floating, really. “what’s gotten into you?”

“was i?” diluc breathes all too carelessly. the young master places a chaste kiss to your nose, a tender action that never fails to warm your heart. “i merely wished to convey my affections for you.”

That's not really a bother to the aloof man, since he can't exactly read emotions well either. He knows where you're coming from, and will try to give you the time you need.

Xiao's advances on the other hand... are... well, let's just say interesting. Ever since he had quietly asked Zhongli for some relationship advice, the man had been entangled in the two of you's association ever since, giving Xiao the most bewildering advice... to him, at least.

So now, every morning, the two of you drink tea together and watch the sun rise above the mountain peaks, per request of the adpetus. You didn't think much of it - it was more of an excuse just to spend more time with the man, and so you were happy to oblige.

Still, waking up every morning, this early... you can barely keep yourself from dozing off.

"Come to think of it, do you like the sunrise, Xiao? You must have a reason for constantly inviting me to meetings like this... ah- but I enjoy them, I promise you...!"

Xiao let a ghost of a smile play across his face. No, He wants to say to you. I do this because I want to see you. "Yes, the sunrise is beautiful indeed."

"Aha, I knew it! I never took you for someone as sentimental as that, but it's a welcome side of you!"

"...Mhm." But you are much more beautiful.

The silence that comes after is somehow comforting.

He doesn't know where these emotions have come from, or how they blossomed, but just by being in your presence they are nurtured, and by the day they grow.

And because he can't express it himself, he'll wait until the day you realize it. ♥

So when he quietly shows you all the poems he's written about you, face flushed merely think it's because of his eloquent language that you don't understand his feelings. After all, he does use quite the number of elaborate metaphors, so it would only make sense, right?

Yet, when he attempts to convey his feelings in a more blunt manner, that seems to somehow fail as well.

"Ah, you're so beautiful that I feel flustered." He lets out a quiet laugh, smiling at you.

happy birthday, mr husband. thank you for making me simp so hard that i can't even concentrate on studying for my semester exams tomorrow. WHAT IS THAT BIRTHDAY ART?! IT'S ILLEGAL.

the whole of mondstadt witnessed how their uncrowned king fell in love.

for them, it was like watching a romance movie, seeing how the main character slowly changed, bit by bit.

at first, the glance that was directed at you was of indifference, diluc just noting what drink you wanted as you stuttered it out from beside lisa, pushing your drink towards you before tending to another customer.

then was the look that showed acknowledgement when lisa introduced you as a junior from sumeru, who came to mondstadt to work under her. all he did was nod, sparing you a glance. nothing more, nothing less.

the next change in the way he looked towards you was something a lot of people noticed, but only one witnessed. the way he looked and acknowledged you with respect everytime you passed him, giving a small nod whenever your gazes met. the reason will always remain a mystery to the people of the city of freedom.

not to a certain cat allergic archon, though. he did not mean to pry, but who in their right mind would ignore a scene that played straight out of a novel when you happened to stumble upon it? not him, definitely.

so he watched, slowly sipping from his bottle as you patched the cat that diluc was holding, eyes blown wide with panic but hands as steady a mountain. he did not know what happened before, but it wasn't hard to guess.

though, even the bard wasn't so nosy as to look on when diluc's gaze shifted from the cat to you.

the change from respect to adoration was gradual, but not subtle by any means.

the more the time the two of you spent together, the stronger the gaze grew. it still held the respect from before, but the adoration just settled in alongside it, never to leave.

it was kaeya who got to witness the addition of absolute tenderness in his brother's eyes. he was heading back towards his quarters after a stroll with sister rosaria, that's when he noticed you both, lost in each other's embrace. so much so that even as a drunkard passed you, loudly singing, neither of you even showed a sign of breaking the hug.

the tenderness directed towards you when the hug finally broke sent kaeya back to his childhood, when his big brother had almost the same look but directed towards him. that was when he knew that the dark knight hero did not have any plans to let you go.

affection that made it's way into the eyes of the eldest son of ragnvindr was what adelinde noticed first.

the night was cold, strong winds and heavy rain hit mondstadt. she was waiting for the winery's master to come back, towel ready in hand.

soon enough, he did return but with his hand clutching onto a figure behind him, both panting heavily as their clothes dripped the water down onto the carpet.

ever the gentleman, diluc thanked her politely before grabbing the towel from her hands and leading you towards the fireplace, making you sit in front of it while drying your hair with the towel in his hands.

the head maid was about to leave but the look in her young master's eyes made her feet freeze to the ground, heart fluttering as she witnessed them shine after almost 4 years.

adelinde hoped with all her heart that you would never leave the red haired man behind before she strolled back to her bedroom.

the love that spread into his gaze was for only you to witness.

love that sent your head reeling as soon you your eyes fluttered open, still in his embrace as he slowly cupped your cheek. the small, soft smile that settled onto his face was enough to send your heart into a rampage, feeling both as if you're drowning but also as if the you took a breath of the most fresh air this world possibly had to offer, simultaneously.

the chuckle that left him when you cuddled into his embrace, hiding your face in his chest, did not make it any better.

your situation only worsened when he pressed a sweet kiss onto your head and pulled you closer, whispering;

'wish i could stay like this forever.'

this man was a hazard to your heart.

if there was something that diluc found absolutely alluring about you, it would be your neck. not that you as a whole weren't alluring to him by any means.

but seriously, his obsession with shoving his face into it whenever you're around is a bit concerning.

if his day went well, the first thing he does after coming home is pull you into his arms and let out a satisfied sigh into the crook of your neck.

if his day went bad, he would not eat before snuggling his face deep between the path that connects your shoulders with your throat, letting you caresses his scalp tenderly.

if he didn't do anything during the day, he most often than not wants to be babied. so, if you feel a pout - a slight movement of his lips which, for diluc, is as good as a full blown pout - you know what he wants. (you did not hear that from me though, diluc ragnvindr does not want to be babied).

if he finds you cooking in the kitchen, his arms snake around your neck and his nose digs up space for his head to settle into. once, it led you to burn a chicken strip so much, it was impossible to distinguish it from a burnt piece of wood. a diluc who was fresh out of shower and only in his trousers was very bad for both your sanity and your health.

if he finds you reading a book on the couch, he tends to sit on his knees and push his head as deep as he can to get a better smell of your scent and the book's. mostly yours.

you get it. his day doesn't feel complete unless he has you caged in his arms while caging his own face into your neck.

but nothing even came close to the feeling of utter ecstasy when he leaves a trail of kisses on each and every inch of your throat as he ruins you with such sweetness, it would've had your teeth aching if not for how far gone your ability to comprehend your surroundings was.

nothing can ever have him as feral as biting into every bit of the skin your neck and shoulder has to offer. while he tries his very best - but utterly fails - to not have himself climax inside you.

nothing can ever make him as satisfied as sucking and licking the places he bit into, to soothe the pain (and that is definitely not an excuse to have his mouth on your throat for just a bit longer).

and nothing can ever make him feel as much pride - and equal parts embarrassment - as he watches you stroll around mondstadt, not even trying to cover up the newly formed hickeys all that biting had left behind.

Waltz. They live for the romance in the way your bodies sway gently to such music filled with love. They think that slow dances like this allow them to really take all of you in the most romantic, whimsical and elegant way possible. So you end up getting twirled around and getting swept off your feet. They can't help it, they just badly love flirting with you and making you flustered. And what if you're a great dancer? It becomes a story of who falls first (They do, and they fall hard for you).

Swing. These two are lovers of jazz and chaos. They like losing themselves in the moment with you. With each dance, they want you to feel like the world around you is a blur. They want you to feel like it's just you two in it. Itto teaches you all the grooves, and you end up having random dances each time you see one another. Venti likes dancing with you better when he's had a drink or two. It helps him get in the mood. But you have to watch them both before they get too rowdy.

He thinks dancing is pointless. He'd rather kiss you or take you somewhere nice as a date. But if you push his buttons and ease him into it, he'll pick up something or two. Maybe a little bit of swing or waltz. But honestly, you have to initiate it. Once you get him in the mood, he'll have this small smile on his face ー almost as if he feels free while dancing with you.
