The pronouns that you prefer are your real pronouns.

What you have chosen to do with your body (staying as is, transitioning, etc.) is exactly how said body is supposed to be, and is your real body.

Your definitions of yourself are what makes the real you.

A Theory: It’s Not Patton’s Room

Idk if this has already been covered, but I’m gonna do it anyway.

When Thomas suggested going to Patton’s room, Patton said, “My room’s kind of a mess”

But when we get there, it’s not a mess. Yeah, it’s a bit chaotic, but organized chaos. All of Thomas’s school stuff is behind Logan, all the theater stuff by Roman, all the “edgy” cringe fest notes are by Virgil. If the room were truly a mess, there would be stuff everywhere. There would be stuffed animals on the floor, notebook pages all over the couch, the lamp post would probably be tilted over somewhere.

The room that we saw was not a messy room, at least not equivalent to Patton’s current mental state. Therefore, it’s not Patton’s room.

But, I hear you saying, what about how they got there? Weren’t they thinking of going to Patton’s room? And that is correct. Except that Thomas was specifically thinking happy thoughts. He was thinking sunshine and rainbows and specifically the past, about better times.

This isn’t Patton’s room. It’s “Nostalgia Nirvana.” It’s a storage room. This is where Patton keeps all the memories. But Roman claims that is Patton’s room, I hear you saying. To which I say, what if Roman doesn’t know any better? What if Patton has never let the other sides into his actual room?

This room that Thomas and the gang are in is Patton’s storage room. In order to get to the crux of the issue, they need to get into Patton’s actual room.

I don’t think this is true but I kinda really like the idea nonetheless and would be very surprised if this turned out to be true. :)

I doubt this is canon, but I love this theory and I would love to write/see other people write something with this theory.

Imagine how the transition occurs:

-They’re in the room, Thomas, Logan, and Roman still going through old memories and Virgil is freaking out.  He knows he has to get out of there, and it is the one clear thought repeating on loop in his mind in the midst of his rising panic.

- Virgil runs to what would normally be the front door of Thomas’s apartment and Patton goes running after him and calls out ‘NO!’ and Thomas and Roman freeze because Patton is loud and wildly distressed, but Virgil opens the door and…whiteout

-The four of them are back in their places, but it’s Patton’s room now, not ‘Nostalgia Nirvana’.

- The lights come from all different directions and in different colors, creating odd shadows and shapes.  The floor is covered in broken objects, a shattered picture frame, glass everywhere, a stuffed animal torn to pieces.

- The sides look different too. Roman looks sickly pale, his sash is torn and his shirt gapes open to reveal heavy sutures on the left side of his chest.  Virgil looks bigger, scarier, his makeup is more intense and the lighting adds to his frightening appearance; he is wrapped in thorny vines.  Patton is bruised, one arm in a sling, dried blood on his chin under a split lip. his tears have soaked his shirt front and the sleeves of the cardigan tied too tight around his neck.

- And then there’s Thomas.  The lighting isn’t flattering anymore, a dingy yellow that makes him look sickly, illuminating part of his face, a green light behind him accentuating his mussed hair.   He isn’t smiling anymore, you can’t hide in Patton’s room, surrounded by raw emotion, though everything is distorted to some extent.  Thomas’s eyes are red and puffy, tears sliding down his cheeks, his normally colorful attire seems washed out, he’s less vibrant.

- All of the emotions are in Patton’s room, but the dominant emotion holding sway, the one Patton has been trying so desperately to hide, is overwhelming grief.

I love the Thomas Sanders fandom. So much. We’re smaller than most YouTube communities, but were the best one I’ve ever seen. We’re accepting beyond belief, we care about one another, we lift each other up, we’re there when another needs it…

We may have a little angst, we may have some identity problems in ourselves, but we’re THERE for each other to get through it all, and that’s what’s the most important. So thank you, fanders, for making this fandom a home to me <3
