So, its been 4 days since I’ve seen Cats and oh man, it was an experience.
First of all, we were stuck in the top balcony and it was super hard too see the stage, but some stuff ended up happening and we were moved down to orchestra level!! We were so close and it was literally insane. But here are some things I took notice of!!
So, firstly, Zach Bravo handed off his title as Rum Tum Tugger to Travis Anderson!! I was very sad to not see Zach (I follow him on tiktok) but Travis was amazing!!! We also had a possible understudy for Munkustrap, but understudy or not, José Raúl Mangual did awesome!
Some things I was keen to notice character wise:
Mr Mistoffelees and Jellylorum were by each other a ton!! It seemed that they had a building relationship!
During Tugger’s song, Misto was one of the few kittens fawning over Tugger, and Skimbleshanks kept on trying to shake a pawing misto off his legs!
Tugger really was not interested in Bomba at all. And Travis played him very flamboyant yet sturdy which I loved!
Mistoffelees and Tugger were next to each other during Victoria and Platos dance when they all lay down!
They had Gus sing the awefull battle of the pekes and the pollicles (he also gave the song to munka) amd them dressed as the great rumpus cat. They also changed the racist lyric to “Winsome Chinese”
Maybe 5 minutes before act 2, Old Deuteronomy came on stage and just walked around and looked at the audience! A lot of people waved (of course I did as well)
There wasnt an Electra, Ecetera, or Exotica. We were also missing an Asparagus Jr! But I had no issue with it! (The kitten group was just smaller)
The actress for Grizabella gave my goosebumps goosebumps. She was amazing!
I am missing so much to say so please please ask any questions and I will answer them!! I would love to share my experience! I paid extra attention to background characters and took in their interactions!
