The bar was busy, as it always was on a Saturday night, and you grinned as Nestor walked in and took his seat at the bar. You had too much fun last week, you couldn’t help looking forward to seeing if he would show up again for another round. He didn’t know just how therapeutic that night at your house was in getting Angel out of your head.

You placed your empty glass on the bar top and made your way through the crowd towards him. Anyone who was in the bar last week knew to make way for you and clear a path. You reached Nestor and he smirked as he saw you drop onto the stool next to him.

“Back for more?” You asked as you tapped the bar and the barmaid poured your usual.

If they were easy, they wouldn’t be important. Sonora was not a safe place back then and I was pregnant with Angel so we had our own familia to think about. Santo Padre is our safe haven and it has become home but I will always miss the ones we left behind.”

“Santo Padre isn’t safe.” I said and something in me realised this wasn’t how the memory went, I had simply nodded acceptance and fallen to sleep.

I was halfway through my shift when I my name came across the speaker system and I went to the nurses station to see what was happening. The phone was beeping with a call waiting on hold and picked up to answer.

“Nurse Reyes, how can I help?” I greeted them only to hear my brothers laugh.

“Shit, you can actually sound professional, who knew.” Angel said. “Can you leave early and come to the clubhouse? It’s important.”

I mentally ran through how busy I was and decided it wasn’t too much pressure to put on the other nurses on shift. After agreeing to take the night off I went in search of the Charge Nurse and lied about a family emergency. Soon enough I was heading home to change and found my bathroom window had been fixed while I was out. I should have been concerned about how they were even let in but I assumed a certain sicario was involved since breaking and entering probably didn’t even register as a crime after what he did for a living.
