A mild ache radiates down your spine to your legs which has you wincing for the first time in what feels like a lifetime. Though, it doesn’t matter how much discomfort you find yourself in, you worry about the man a few feet away. You sit and ponder how this once scrawny and sickly man of the early 20th century had found himself all these decades later carrying the weight of this country on his shoulders-- and manage to still look good while doing it.

It all started with you gazing deeply into his bright eyes and in your tipsy/slightly drunken state asking, “will you be my New Year’s kiss?” 10 seconds before midnight. He had snickered at your question at first but was floored when he realised you were being serious. He’d watched you when midnight struck, feeling this pull in his heart when he saw you cheering and smiling brightly, your beautiful dazzling smile that made your eyes crinkle at the corners that he loved so much. He’d took your hand, pulled you close to him, his arm easily snaking around your waist while he cupped your cheek and connected your lips in a kiss that made your head reel. That’s where it all began.
The sun shone brightly at midday in Lake Como, Italy; the birds happily chirping away in the surrounding trees; excited chatter echoing in the open chapel, the cool breeze cancelling out a bit of the heat.
“Now that we’ve made a life together, let’s make a life together.” 🤩 Delivering per usual the good content we all need!
