Even if it is subverted, the scenes are there. The trauma has been done. Lesbians and wlws, especially wlws of color saw that. Saw her die twice. Saw another lesbian traumatically killed for man!pain. Saw another wlw on the same show killed for man!pain. Saw another black character turned into a cyberman and have themselves deleted so that the Doctor can be angsty. I’m tired of the Moff stans acting like it can all be swept under the rug if he just reverses her death. LGBT fans deserve better than to fulfill the ‘Bury Your Gays’ trope. POC fans deserve better than to always have POC chars with a metaphorical clock ticking down to their inevitable (and usually violent) death. You cannot divorce the real world from this. In a world where people of color are shot and killed by cops for walking across the street, subject to racist violence and even execution by hate groups, their bodies and agencies ignored on a systemic level, a woc being shot and killed on screen. In a world where LGBT+ people are executed for being so, or forced into camps, conversion therapy, psychiatric care, forced chemical castration, etc… seeing her 'converted’ into a creature that you become when you have your entire set of emotions, everything that made you human, deleted. You cannot remove the real world context. You cannot wave a wand and make this story okay just because she 'comes back to life’. A woc lesbian character was in a conversion camp and had her emotions deleted and entire agency and self removed, after being shot. Do you not see how traumatic that is?!
