🎵 but bunny, it’s cold outside 🎵 The move to Shopify is happening! I’ve got the bones of it laid out, but I want to see how the checkout-order-ship process works before I have a major sale… so I’m going to be listing five snuggie buns (snuggies by @woolstrung ) in the shop on Sunday, January 12 at 3pm EST. If that goes well, the Celestial Creatures sale will be the following weekend on Saturday, January 19th. I will post the new shop link soon! https://www.instagram.com/p/B7GfCIqp8AC/?igshid=11x537krdccq2
I’ve been experimenting with bracelet-making lately!
All the latest pics and information, including how to purchase these, are available at my woolstrung Instagram account. Any news about future knitwear and things will be posted there as well, so please follow if you’re interested in my work. *^^*
Procrastination/distraction knitting, because I’m having trouble focusing on other projects. I’d like to knit some arm and leg accessories to match, but I haven’t decided on the specifics yet.
SD10 or SD13/GrB size?
Mittens, fingerless gloves, or armwarmers? Plain, textured, striped?
Legwarmers, short socks, knee-high socks, or thigh-high socks? Plain, textured, striped?
I also kind of want to decorate the scarf up a bit when I’m done. Maybe use some lace trim in the fringe, or sew tiny seed beads between some of the cable crossings... or maybe that would be too much. I’ll work on finishing the body of the scarf first at least; I want to make it extra long and cozy.

A combat model's work is never done, but at least she can look good doing it.

Working~
This design is purposely a riff on the previous pair of blue thigh-high socks, but the lace panel will run down the side of the leg and split at the ankle, with half the swirl continuing onto the top of the foot. The socks will be mirrored, so that the lace can be worn at the outside of the leg or the inside; if worn on the inside and the doll is standing with their feet together, the swirls should line up to give the illusion of completing the panel.
The mirrored-as-a-pair but individually-asymmetrical style is one I really enjoy, both to design and to knit. Cherry Soda Bomb was one of my favorite projects, even though I think I’m the only one who actually likes them. XD
Prototyping.
The short white version (on the left) is 100% merino wool; the gray and long white versions (right) are 100% alpaca. I like the dreamy, soft look of the alpaca, especially in person, but the merino offers crisper stitch definition so that the swirl pattern doesn’t get as lost. Hm...
I also wonder if the bobbles on every swirl are too much? I could make it every other “row” of swirls gets bobbles... or alternate left and right...
Quickie/messy shots of the finished prototype. Is the design too weird, I wonder?
Cute af and your mannequin is only slightly terrifying
Thanks!
For what it’s worth -- my model is a 1/3 scale (~60cm tall) Asian ball-jointed doll, not a human-sized mannequin. This may or may not lessen how terrifying this post is, depending on your view regarding such dolls. ^^
Hashing out an idea for SD/SD13G thigh-high socks with a lacy flower motif.
I might adjust the fit a bit... and I plan to have the lace panel run down the back of the leg, with the rest of the sock in plain stockinette to highlight the hand-dyed yarn. It’s just easier to show off the lace at this stage if I twist it around. I think it looks okay so far?
