* starry eyed
Some things are a little hard to believe still. Years of that and Sid find herself not completely used to the idea of being anything-famous. Being part of the volleyball team gives her somewhat of a status (other girls on the team said she should live life and abuse her star privileges a little), she knows she’s a great player even is she has trouble finding herself a great anything else.
It’s kind of an ego massage when someone comes and compliments her, or cheers for her. She feels powerful and energized, not holding back a smile.
“Hey!” Sid approaches Caixia, her small dongsaeng, offering a high five right away. “Are you kidding me, dongsaeng? I’m a wall. Nothing is passing by me.” Sid temporarily dyed her hair blue for the game, she looks like a tall lollipop. “Want to wish me good luck anyway?”
caixia’s actions are reminiscent of an excited child finally coming face to face with their hero; eyes wide, head nodding quickly as a shaky hand goes up to high five sid, struggling to form a proper response to the elder’s question. her vocabulary has seemingly shrunk, the words failing to come to mind when she’s busy resisting the urge to flail.
“a wall? definitely you are,” she finally replies and smiles brightly, both to express her support as the ultimate fan, but to also ignore the break in her calm facade moments earlier. as far as she’s concerned, that didn’t happen. “and obviously i’m here to wish you luck. it’s my job to push you guys forward towards success!”
oh god, it sounds all so cheesy. who knew she’d be capable for spewing such cringe inducing nonsense?
in one swift movement, caixia swings her backpack over her shoulder and unzips it, retrieving a bright blue lunchbox containing a dozen (healthy) cupcakes. baking has never been her area of expertise, particularly the decorating aspect, although the frustration is hastily pushed aside for her volleyball hero.
“i made you something! for good luck in case you needed extra stuff!” pause. “but you know, you’re already lucky anyway, so…” it’s clear she has to shut up right about now.
