hi! know of any equivalent to ‘left on read’ or ‘ghosted’ that’s not like a literal ‘él leído y no respondió’?

The one that I’ve seen is me dejó en visto “he/she left me on read”

As for “ghosting” it’s typically ghostear online because loanwords; tbh I would’ve expected maybe Spain would say fantasmear or something related to “ghost” but I found out that fantasmear is already a verb and it means “to show off”.

I think “official” Spanish would be no responder or ignorar or something like that. But unofficially, ghostear or hacer ghosting

So it’s ghostear, el ghosteo “ghosting” (as a noun), and often you’ll see el ghosting or hacer ghosting

All of those last ones make sense as loanwords and anglicisms.

And dejar (a alguien) en visto is very widely understood because the messages can say visto which is “seen”. More literally it’s “to be left on seen” but same general idea

Actually I was thinking about it and I remember that there were certain words in Los juegos del hambre that were mashups of two existing words just like in English.

The first was “mockingjay” which is a combination of “mockingbird” and “bluejay”. In Spanish I believe they called it a sinsajo. That’s because a “mockingbird” is el sinsonte and a “bluejay” is el arrendajo… so sinsajo

Another was “tracker jackers” which I think was supposed to be kind of a mix between “tracker” and “yellow jacket”. In Spanish it was las rastrevíspulas which was pretty nice, where el rastro is “trail” and rastrear is “to track” or “to follow a trail”, and though the word for “wasp” is la avispa they come from the genus “vespula” so it kind of got the point across anyway
