COMISSIONS!!

So I kinda need some cash because I’m not making much. I have to pay for part of my next semester of College but also due to needing to lower my hours at work to make time for school, I need to find a way to make money on the side.

So I will be taking commissions soon.

Please spread and reblog if you can… I don’t need much and I am open to both 2d digital art commissions and sculpture comissions.

Dm me for details if you want a sculpture comission, as that is not exactly based on solid prices and more on time and material cost. Minimum 25 dollars. I will provide payment details in a dm

(Also examples are a bit out of date. I don’t have anything much that’s new)

I can do short and simple animation btw. Like Discord stickers

most of these were made for school. I was in IB art last year so it’s not my best stuff, but I haven’t worked in a while on much...

I wish I can use this blog with my main. I use the app for my main so I often forget that this is here. And then I have to use a separate browser for butcher. I get they're all primary accounts, but man I wish you can log in it more than one account at the same time, or turn a primary into a secondary account

I think we should stop putting so much focus on "who cares about their opinion" and more focus on the work it can take to stop caring about someone's opinions. Actually we should apply this logic to everything. Everyone's so focused on self-improvement that we overlook what it takes to get there

Seizure First Aid.

Learn it. Share it. Know it. Use it.

100% correct medical information on tumblr for once; also consider calling 911 if you don’t know how often the person has seizures and ESPECIALLY if the seizure has lasted 5 minutes or more (which is why the watch is critical)

I have epilepsy so making sure the word is out on how to help people who do have seizures means a lot to me.

I dont really care if you use the term bisexual or pansexual, but what i DO care about is that you understand that bisexuality at NO stage in history was EVER trans-exclusionary. Bisexuality has always included trans folks, and non-binary folks, and the entire spectrum of gender between male and female, as well as Definitively Gender and agender. It has ALWAYS meant "attraction to more than one gender." It has NEVER meant "attraction to cis men and women only."

So, pan, bi, use whichever label you will. But do NOT buy into the recent-years innacurate concept that bisexuality is attraction to cis men and women only, because thats literally never been the case.

@brassmama exactly.

^^ Like. Its literally right there in the middle of the flag.

And by contrast, this is what the pan flag colours mean:

So literally its just......

  • bi colours = "same gender, opposite gender, and other genders"
  • pan colours = "men, women, and nb people."

Those two things are...... not all that different to each other.

The purple has always, literally since the flag was created, meant "more genders."

And bisexuality included "more genders" in the definition before the bi flag was created, too. Thats why they included the purple bar in the first place, because it was reflective of bisexual people's attraction to and relationship with gender.

If you feel that pansexual suits you better, or you like the pan flag more, then thats fine -- but don't spread the misconception that bisexuality is remotely exclusionary. Because its literally never been.

don't believe the lies that other LGBTQ people are your enemy

Like I've heard the difference is just the way it can feel. Like how bi people generally express their sexuality differently depending on the gender, while pansexual is not black and white but I beg to differ tbh.

Sure it's an interesting and valid explanation (ish). But I've met more pan people with differing "expression" than bi folks. A lot more pan teens I know end up figuring out they're lesbian for example, but it showed earlier on.

There by no means is anything wrong with this. My love for women and feminine folks has always been different in the fashion of how it comes out. I tend to be a lot more demisexual with men, however less romantic with women, but I don't generally feel demi towards an attractive lady. It's complicated and delicate to describe without offending. I have a "preference" for men but am more "drawn in" by women. It's difficult to describe. I am just bi is the best way to explain.

But I've met pan folks with the same thing.

We are similar in a good way

I should go back to posting actual last blog stuff on here huh?

It's just so nervous about coming back tbh.

Half my following is basically dead. The other half isn't even here for hetalia anymore. I haven't even updated anything on the blog since I was like in junior year. On any of my blogs really. I've graduated now I'm in my first year of college.

Always scared to come back. Always wanting to but I don't know what to do...

Feels like at this point I'm shouting into the void... Like does anyone ever see this. What do I do... So confused. I'm so tired... but I want to come back. I Still have a story to tell. But how do I even do that... It feels like I just focused on this for a day and then I left for a hundred years...

I wish I could just buckle down and do things. I hate this so much. I can't even commit to anything.

I'm sorry for venting. I know it's not normal for me. Gotta understand my predicament.

The Outbursts of Everett True was a comic strip that ran in papers from 1905 to 1927, wherein the aforementioned Everett True regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude. Men have not only been taking up too much room on public transport for about as long as public transport has existed, but the people around them have been irritated about it for at least a hundred years. The next time someone tries to claim that manspreading is a false phenomenon, please direct them to this strip so that Everett True can correct their misconceptions with an umbrella upside the head.

I have never before heard of Everett True, but if he “regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude,” I have a strong spiritual connection with him.

I love the justice grandpa of fists

I’m very lucky to own a book that’s a collection of most of these comics (sadly not all of them) and would highly recommend hunting these down if you can. Sorry for the lack of a scanner but phone photos will just have to do.

He was a enjoyable cuss who didn’t care for war mongering.

Especially profitable war mongering and excuses for it!

He certainly didn’t like selfish husbands and fathers!

Politicians who turned on their words once they got theirs weren’t safe.

He said fuck the police!

He absolutely didn’t like people ruining little things for kids.

He stood up for foreigners. Especially those doing their best to communicate with limited second language knowledge.

He was not having any tomfoolery when it came to gun safety and laws. Especially with youth involved.

You had better not abuse a animal with him nearby. He’d right that wrong real quick!

And best of all him and his wife were both prickly cusses together. Relationship goals.

More dispatches from the front lines of the culture war aka Texas. The rage is never ending and exhausting

I'm not trying to be a shit about this but like we *need* solidarity over this because the alarm was being sounded almost 20 years ago when W let Texas (and other southwestern states) start cutting out Mexican and Chicano history.

As a reminder, Texas constitutes one of the largest textbook markets. Whatever they remove, smaller and/or poorer states will struggle to put back or compensate for when they make their textbook purchases.

That means how Texas goes a disproportionate amount of school resources go.

This is an extremely, extremely important addition ^ Texas has an enormous sway on textbooks everywhere. When it comes to almost any issue...Texas isn't "just Texas." The people in the notes that are like "Texas should just secede" or "can we just get rid of Texas already" are missing a critical point here. (And throwing the community activists who are trying to combat this stuff under the bus, but I digress.)

As I (and many others for longer and better than me) have tried to explain: Texas is a state of 29 million, and very powerful. The state government is NOT acting in the interests of the majority of the people, they are trying to maintain their decades long stranglehold on power, by doing everything they can, including miseducating youth with propaganda.

Even in the best of voter turnout years, only 52% of the eligible voting population casts a ballot in Texas. Communities of color, low income communities, disabled voters and all kinds of other marginalized folks have had their voting access nearly strangled to death. What happens in Texas is coming for everywhere. We should be talking about national policies to curb this shit.

I worked in textbook publishing for ten years, and I cannot overemphasize how important Texas is to the textbook market. What Texas decides should be taught affects what the rest of the US teaches.

In case you were wondering why American history is so heavily Confederatized...this is why.  Texas has been affecting the nation’s textbook market for decadesAnd because publishers want to sell textbooks in Texas and the South, they adapt their textbooks to be supportive of historical myth (Columbus, the Pilgrims, the Alamo, the Confederacy) rather than unwelcome facts. Unions and civil rights are downplayed. Black, Mexican, Chicano, and Native American history gets minimized, twisted or erased.

All this is pandering to a very specific audience, because if Texas doesn’t approve of a book--if Texas’s textbook review boards don’t feel that the book supports “American values” or if they see admission of racism as “inflammatory” and upsetting to (white) students and their families--that book will not, as a rule, be sold in Texas or the South. If it is, there will almost certainly be lawsuits over the “radical” nature of the book and how it could cause “unrest” in schools.

If I sound disgusted, it’s because I am.

It's not as if this state was any good ever with history anyway 😔

I'm not even american (Canadian) and I've both corrected and informed my history teachers on multiple topics, including MLK. We went over a court case about "Weed for Jesus vs. Wyoming" or something, but not stone wall or how one of the biggest civil rights movement players was a gay man who didn't get along the best with MLK because he was gay, but they still worked together. We didn't go over all of Rosa parks' efforts in the movement. Just part of the bus, until my teacher history buff did so.

I learned more black history in Ap English, because it's part of the AP curriculum and my teachers were pretty enthusiastic about civil rights.

Let it also be known that we have THE WORST VOTING ACCESSIBILITY IN THE COUNTRY

I used to legitimately be scared of black people. I knew it was wrong but it was still something I had to get over. Learning about civil rights helped me empathize with black people. I even am dating a 6'9" half Nigerian man my age. My nightmare of kindergarten me happens to be the most supportive, best man I've ever met. And he is also somewhat dense on black history because it's never taught

To clarify, as a kid, despite not being out right hateful, I had a fear of black men specifically. I grew up with one black classmate in Canada who would often use my trust to bully me.

When I moved to the Us, I was still made fun of by mostly black men until late middle school. I knew they were human. It's just experience made me apprehensive. But exposure to people who were nice and my bullies actually apologizing helped.

If anything, I loved black women to the point where I found out I was bisexual because of it lol 😅. They were often understanding of my trust issues because I was an autistic girl I'm Texas...

How to draw Afro textured 4c hair - an explanation/Tutorial

For those of you that don’t know what 4c hair is, 4c hair is a hair texture type that contains coils to small and tight that the hair appears to be more puffy rather than curly ( like to photo below ) this is in NO WAY to be confused with curly hair. there is a drastic difference.

As a black artist that primarily draws characters with 4c hair, I’ve been asked many times to do a tutorial on 4c hair so here we go~

before we get into 4c hair, lets take a moment to fully understand it by talking about hair texture in a general sense first

let’s take a look at this example of straight hair vs curly hair ( 1 type straight hair vs 3 type curly hair )

If you take a moment to compare the two you’ll notice straight hair is flat, it has no texture. Straight hair perfectly hangs down similar to liquid-like silk. It’s lack of curl pattern is the reason as to why it hangs perfectly flat.

curly hair on the other hand doesn’t lie down flat and silky like straight hair, It’s more thick. Curly hair in it’s raw and unstyled state has a trapezoid like shape this is because the sides of the hair spread more outward.

So why is this? Why is straight hair flat and curly hair thick?

the answer to that question is a thing called piling up. When it comes to hair texture, the shape of the hair strands aren’t the only thing that matters, its how the strands coexist with each other, Curly hair strands coexist by piling up on top each other.

moisture also effects hair texture too, different hair types absorbs moisture differently, thus the thickness of each hair type is different.

…..soooo, how does this all relate to how to draw 4c hair??

Well let’s take a look at the drawing below. Notice how the arrows go outward more as the hair texture gets curlier. As we’ve already discussed, this is because hair piles up, The curlier the hair texture, the more it piles up on each other, the bigger it gets, the more outward the arrows go.

Out of any hair texture, 4C hair has the most curls. Because of this, the hair piles up on each other so much that it doesn’t lie down flat like straight hair, nor does it make a trapezoid like shape like curly hair, it instead becomes more cloud like.❤️

This is what you need to take into account when it comes to drawing 4C hair.

Think of it as piling up a bunch of cotton balls on each other. The most cotton on top of top to lead to a bigger patch of  cotton. this is 4c hair.

How to not draw 4c hair:

Garnet fanart. Let’s talk about Garnet Fanart. I notice a trend that when artists draw Garnet from Steven universe, her hair texture is usually changed to 3 type curly like texture. This subtle form of White washing has confused me because this is inaccurate.

Garnet’s hair is in the shape of a cube. Though 3 type hair piles up on each other, it isn’t curly nor thick enough for their hair to stay in the shape of a cube. Curly hair lies down more than 4c hair. So garnet’s hair being in the shape of a cube is a dead giveaway that it is 4C. Why do you think hairstyles like flat tops are usually seen on black men with 4c hair? It’s because, the 4c hair texture is thick and strong enough to stay in whatever shape you put it in.

please, if you’re drawing a character with 4c hair, avoid drawing it like curly 3 type hair, this is very anti-black and texturist.

So, how do you draw 4c hair?

honestly, its the most easy thing in the world

i wanna clarify that blobby looking 4c drawings ( like the one on the top left ) can work depending on how cartoony your art style is.

Another thing that I want to greatly clarify when it comes to drawing 4C hair is, YOU. DONT. NEED. TO. DRAW. EVERY. HAIR. STRAND!…..like, seriously. I’ve gotten many messages about how 4C hair is hard to draw, and it’s always left me confused; but then I find out that the same people that have trouble drawing 4C hair, attempt to draw every single strand of hair. This is unnecessarily time consuming because it’s merely impossible to get every single detail down, especially when you have a simple cartoon style. 4C hair does not require much effort, all you’re doing is drawing lumps. It’s that simple, nothing more nor nothing less.

The reason why I greatly advise all of you to avoid drawing every single hair strand is because in real life, when you look at a 4C textured Afro, your eyes don’t pick up on each individual hair strand like straight or curly hair. 4C hair, appears to be more undefined and cloud like, so attempting to draw each and every individual strand is unnecessary and will most likely end up looking inaccurate.

Anyways! that’s it for now! there will be a part 2 to this tutorial that will come out next week! i hope you guys have learned from this and apply it to your black character in your art!~

Can someone help with drawing braids and two strand twists? My bf is fun to draw but it always looks like gummy worms
