Now that I have met that type of kid in real life, I understand the main characters that always get everyone's attention/adoration (doesn't even have to be romantically) like Midoriya.
Midoriya's that kid everyone thinks is adorable, maybe not by looks at first (they call him "the plain looking one") but his character.
He's awkward but good at what he does (they notice his improvements and attention to detail during training/when in action)
He's naturally nice so he won't often be taken seriously if he tries acting another way and gets everyone's attention if he seems upset.
He doesn't brag and sees the good in others, supports them, tries to draw it out, all while being unaware he does it.
It's not just a "main character needs a harem" type of detail.
His character is a very rare and well fleshed out one, others would be just naturally attracted to it.
I would hope everyone gets to meet a Midoriya in their life
