Of course, if anyone sets Miraculous Ladybug in America, they are more than free to do whatever they want with the characters! But if it’s set in France, a bit of research is, I think, required. Out of respect for French people and their culture.

It’s just a matter of respect, and people realising that what might seem like little pointless things for them, well... Isn’t always little pointless things and can vary in importance depending on the country and context. That was the only point of my post, though I do recall it being pretty salty lol

If anything, that post did lead the creation of this one blog which actually explains a bunch of things about French culture and helps clean up all misunderstandings about France! I’m kind of drifting off but yeah, to answer your anon: As long as it’s set in an American AU, there’s no reason to limit yourself.
