We've run out of food and drinks for the past few days and we're moving tomorrow, so there's a lot of packing to be done and we're gonna need groceries for our new place. We also can't pack properly if we're exhausted from hunger and thirst.

To that end, Kalen and I are both offering services to raise money with which to support ourselves. I'm offering sensitivity readings, and Kalen is offering custom covers for your fics/projects.

This is obviously very urgent since we have to be out of here by tomorrow.

I guess what I think is that suicide is a symptom of a problem and not the problem to fix, you know what I mean? To stop suicides you have to stop people’s mental health from getting to the point where they consider it, you have to treat the disease, trying to treat the symptom itself is almost completely useless.

For instance, Japan has spent a great deal of money on anti-suicide infrastructure, doing genuinely cartoonishly things like putting rollers on bridge railings so you can’t climb over them and slide right off, putting blue lights in the subway so it’s harder to see to throw yourself in front of a train. It’s not working. Japan’s suicide rate rose again in 2022. They are not addressing the root causes and stressors in their citizen’s lives and social barriers to mental health care and psychiatric medication.

It’s the same with universities in America, many have spent an exorbitant amount of money on turning their dorms into psych ward like environments. Anti-hanging chairs that you can’t stand on, bunks you can’t hang yourself from, slanted doorknobs etc. And yet suicide is still the second leading cause of death for college students. They make no attempts to make college easier, to make pausing and resuming your studies better, to make the pressure of an academic environment feel less life or death. They make no accommodations for the individual. They just make it a little harder to hang yourself in a few rooms on campus and call it a day, say they’re being proactive in terms of mental health.

Tuesday, January 16th: Hello everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill, and disabled woman in desperate need of help, as I'm struggling to keep my utilities on, and get groceries for January!!!

I am so sorry to be making this post at such an inconvenient time, but I'm struggling so terribly right now to make ends meet while on welfare/disability. And since the festive season, I have been in desperate need of aid to keep my utilities on, as well as getting groceries for January, which I am in dire need of.

I also don't receive my welfare again until the 31st, so this is extremely urgent as my electricity meter has 29p in it and is about to go onto its emergency credit along with my gas meter!!!

Islamic Relief in the UK also has a page where you can write to your MPs to call for a ceasefire.

@bucksboobs I believe it made it to Athena's 'checklist' of examples of Scott hitting all the boxes on being a textbook abuser. Because much like the obvious case of the show being told through the lens of the unreliable narrator and it was really about Derek and Stiles all along, with Scott being the Anakin character destined to fall to darkness, it was a given that he was canonically twisting the truth in this scene, as was his wont. There was never any possibility that these words could be taken at face value and Isaac, indeed, was on watch last.

There is nothing quite like it: the desperate need that Teen Wolf BNF had which lead them to recontextualize every scene into a clear reason why Scott should not have been the lead protagonist of the show instead of an array of white male alternatives (Peter, Derek, Stiles, Jackson or Isaac). What's always so rewarding for me is when I contemplate the it doesn't make any sense in context.

If this scene wasn't obviously meant to be a comedy scene reminding the audience that these are teenagers, not professionals -- if it was indeed a red flag for Scott's gaslighting tendencies! -- then it is one of the worst scenes in the history of television. The cinematography is contradictory (a light-filled bedroom with soft drinks and comforters), Melissa's reactions are completely off, and there is absolutely no payoff from it the rest of that season.

As opposed to a scene showing true violence, such as Derek breaking Isaac's arm in Abomination (2x04) out of frustration and desperation moments after declaring to Erica he's going to choose who she dates. The cinematography of a dark train station with a makeshift obstacle course indicates that this is a tense situation, the looks of Boyd, Erica and Isaac's faces (see this for reference); and this self-assured desperate brutality leads directly to Derek's attempt to murder Lydia, Boyd and Erica abandoning him, and Scott "not trusting him at all."

It's just such an excruciatingly torturous misreading of a scene in service to racist fandom, that you have to look at it and laugh.
