“But the 8-hour workday is too profitable for big business, not because of the amount of work people get done in eight hours (the average office worker gets less than three hours of actual work done in 8 hours) but because it makes for such a purchase-happy public. Keeping free time scarce means people pay a lot more for convenience, gratification, and any other relief they can buy. It keeps them watching television, and its commercials. It keeps them unambitious outside of work. We’ve been led into a culture that has been engineered to leave us tired, hungry for indulgence, willing to pay a lot for convenience and entertainment, and most importantly, vaguely dissatisfied with our lives so that we continue wanting things we don’t have. We buy so much because it always seems like something is still missing.”

Hey Dreamworks. How are you? Good? Great. That makes me really happy. Can we talk for a second?

You made boss baby into a tv series for Netflix. Fun! It was a cute movie, with a pretty decent story. Now maybe I’m being an obsessive fan here, but you made a movie a couple (almost six) years ago.

“Rise of the Guardians”. And that was pretty awesome too. With beautiful art. And good characters. It inspired me a lot. Not to mention helped me with my fear of the dark, and got me interested in art later on (To be fair I probably should have been over my fear of the dark by that age anyway, but honestly, I was ready to throw my nightlight out I was so confident then).

And I LOVED that movie. I still do. I mean sure, it’s probably forgotten by some people, and it didn’t do great in the box office, but:

It did do better than The Boss Baby. At least rating wise. I can’t really use the box office to back me up since The Boss Baby made roughly (according to my calculations, which are probably incorrect, please correct me if I’m wrong):

While Rise of the Guardians didn’t do quite as well:

But you can’t deny the ratings. People liked this movie!! You still have fans out there!! But we are a dying crowd. Your other shows are fantastic! Voltron, Trollhunters, I love them! And I think people would love a rise of the guardians show as well. Maybe 2D animation? Something simpler?

You could really explore this world more! The movie did have a great ending, but I just feel like there is more to explore! More characters! World building! Backstory for other characters besides Jack! (WHERE IS JAMIES DAD). I probably just sound like another girl still fantasizing over Jack Frost, and you’ll probably brush this off or not even see it. That’s fine. I’m not a fan because I think Jack is hot, I’m a fan because these characters formed my childhood. I just wanted to put this out there.

Theres a new generation of kids out there who can be inspired, just like I was! All because of a TV show about a movie that came out six years ago!! Isn’t that crazy? I know this dumb post on my irrelevant blog won’t do anything to get us a show, but this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while.

This movie has potential to be carried on in a TV show, with plot that couldn’t be carried through in another movie. Sure, you probably wouldn’t be able to get the original voice actors back. There are a lot of other incredibly talented voice actors out there who could carry these roles on fantastically! There are probably other reasons why this movie can’t be made into a tv show. That’s alright. I just wanted to put this out there.

I don’t want to put anyone in an uncomfortable situation, or be rude, or do anything that isn’t positive in this post. I’m not trashing on the Boss Baby! If you (Dreamworks) think it can be a good show, then I have high hopes for you! I’m sure you can make it great! I just don’t think it will get the same attention as other shows, like Voltron or Trollhunters. Like perhaps a rise of the guardians show would??? Maybe I’m insane. Sorry for bugging you all with a dumb post, but I just really love Rise Of The Guardians.

Thank you for reading.

EDIT: I know you need Mr Joyce’s input on this before this goes anywhere. So Mr Joyce, is by some MIRACLE you see this, I want to to thank you for making my childhood full of wonder. Your stories deserve to be spread to another generation of boys and girls who need it more than ever right now. I know you probably don’t want them spread through a TV series, but I was introduced to these characters stories through the movie, and I think perhaps children could be introduced to them through a fun TV show. I sound insane, and needy, but this movie really does mean a lot to me. By no means do I intend to insult your work by suggesting the beauty of your stories can only be carried onto the next generation through a screen, that is not what I’m saying, I just think a new generation of kids could be shown these characters through it. You’ve done an incredible job. Thank you.

Do you wanna hear one of the funniest fucken stories?

Pls do tell

So in my town there is this emo satanist community and at some point a really influential emo dude called Raven lived here. Like every emo in Romania knew him because he was somehow the edgiest of them all. He was also a gigantic incel, but still tried to flirt with every goth girl on sight. At some point when he was in his last year of high school, before leaving for college, he tried to hit on an 11 yo girl(gross). It made her rlly uncomfortable. What Raven didn’t know was that this girl’s cousin was the strongest dude in town-2 meters tall, super bulky, literally looked like a mountain. So the girl told her buff cousin what Raven looked like, and one time, while Buff guy was at work, he spotted Raven. Now, funny enough, Buff Guy worked at a children’s playground, and he was dressed up as a clown that day. So he just walked up to Raven, patted him on the shoulder and asked: “Have you ever been beaten up by a clown?” and Raven said, “N-no”. To which Buff Guy replied :“It’s fine. Because you will be.”

there is no possible way to predict the many directions this post took

honey is the only food product that never spoils. there are pots of honey that are over five thousand years old and still completely edible

i also want to point out we know it tastes the same even after thousands of years b/c archaeologists who discovered two thousand year old honey tasted it. presumably right after they looked at each other and went “what the hell here goes nothing”

I’m pretty sure they also identify human remains by taste. Archaeologists are straight up freaks.

No, no no… you identify bone from rock or other substances by touching it to your tongue. If it sticks, it’s bone. The taste itself has nothing to do with it. And most archaeologists won’t lick human bones if they know they’re human.

…and I realize that doesn’t actually do much to prove archaeologists aren’t freaks.

mai nam is jane and wen i dig i fynde some roks both smol and big i put my tung upon the stone for science yes i lik the bone

I’m sitting with a bunch of archaeologists and we just laughed so hard we CRIED we’re getting tshirts with this on them

Moira: Your condition seems relatively stable. Reaper: No one’s accused me of that in a long time.

mp3 upload of Moira’s new interaction with Reaper.

Discussion:

This one is interesting.  In my opinion, it feels like Moira’s intentions or suspicions are easier to “suss out” in her interaction with Soldier: 76.  In this one, it is hard to tell if Moira is making a literal statement (like as “a doctor to her patient”) or if Moira is pointedly telling Gabriel that she becoming skeptical of his “I’m sick and I need your help” argument these days.

Remember, Moira is supposedly helping Gabriel find a cure for his condition:

However, if Gabriel’s “condition” is stabilizing…then does he actually need Moira’s help?

And if he doesn’t…then why is he still “cooperating” with her?

Reaper appears to deflect her remark with a joke - a tactic we’ve seen him use frequently, both as Reyes in “Retribution” and later, as his current persona of Reaper.

It’s starting to feel like Moira is getting increasingly suspicious of Reaper and possibly Soldier: 76 (see the link above for a discussion on that).

Since tumblr has decided it will NOT be uploading videos, y’all get converted MP3s instead.

Full interaction:

Soldier: 76: You were a disgrace to Overwatch. If I had known what Reyes had been planning, I would never have allowed it.
Moira: It seems to me that it was convenient for you not to look too closely into Gabriel’s business.

Alternate full interaction videos:

Mine: Part 1 and Part 2 User geckowo: full

Discussion:

This interaction shows us a few things:

The first: Jack blames Moira for the downfall of Overwatch.  This effectively confirms she was, in fact, a double-agent working for Talon at the time of “Retribution.”

The next few things are mainly speculation:

1) Jack and Gabriel eventually disagreed on their plans to handle Talon, resulting in a genuine falling out or a separation of methods.  It is entirely possible that Gabriel wanted to continue infiltrating Talon, while Jack wanted to bail.  This is indicated by “If I had known what Reyes had been planning, I would never have allowed it.”  The full “idea” could arguably be rewritten as: “If I had known that Reyes had been planning to completely ‘lose himself’ to his role as Reaper, I would never have allowed it.”

2) Jack is “playing boy scout” just as intensely as Gabriel is playing “the bad guy.”  In an effort to convince Moira of both roles, Jack is “doubling down” here, putting on a “masquerade” of his fake falling out with Gabriel.  In essence, his line “I would never have allowed it” is a lie or a twisted truth.

Now, in my opinion -

It is the second one that makes the most sense out of Moira’s response.

Because Moira sounds suspicious of Soldier: 76 and Reaper here.

Yes, arguably, you could take her reply at face value and interpret it as, “It was convenient for me that you, Morrison, did not watch Gabriel’s actions.”

However, from the full audio, it sounds significantly more like Moira is saying, “It was very convenient that you basically let Gabriel do whatever he wanted…a little too convenient.”

Moira does not actually say directly that she and/or Talon benefited by Jack not watching Gabriel closely.  Instead, she implies that she finds Jack’s lack of oversight…convenient, possibly for him.

All in all, I’m very intrigued by this.  Very excited to see that the vast majority of Moira’s new interactions definitely imply she was the “double-agent” in “Retribution.”

"When Shelley's corpse washed ashore, a friend identified it by a copy of Keats's 1820 volume in the coat pocket, which he knew Shelley had taken with him. Then, after cremation in which Shelley's heart, hardened by calcium, did not burn, this same friend snatched it from the embers and presented it to Mary Shelley, who kept it thereafter in her desk, wrapped in a copy of 'Adonais."

Here’s your morbid literary fact of the day.

Mary Shelley’s father taught her to spell her name by taking her to the graveyard and having her trace the letters on her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s gravestone.

Oh, and this isn’t especially goth, but my God, I respect her for this:

In 1827, Mary Shelley was party to a scheme that enabled her friend Isabel Robinson and Isabel’s lover, Mary Diana Dods, who wrote under the name David Lyndsay, to embark on a life together in France as man and wife.[126][note 13] With the help of  [American actor John Howard] Payne, whom she kept in the dark about the details, Mary Shelley obtained false passports for the couple.[127]

The more I learn about Mary Shelley the more I love her

I mean makes sense that she was supportive of her non-straight friends because like she and her husband had an open relation ships and he definitely slept with other men (Lord Byron) and there’s a decent chance that Mary Shelley may have at the very least kissed other women

So she was an LGBT ally icon as well as the Mother of Science Fiction. Adding her to my list of heroes.

(also @garrettauthor sorry I keep tagging you, but I feel you’d like this.)

Oh my god do I ever like this.

Are cows NOT domesticated farm animals in “Steven Universe?”

In “Full Disclosure,” we see Steven swipe through the photos on his phone, and there’s this one of Steven and Connie at a restaurant.

Notice the painting and the stuffed cow head. Stuffing and mounting an animal’s head is usually what you do with an animal that you’ve hunted and killed, not with domesticated farm animals that are slaughtered for their meat.

And that painting is based on a real painting of Theodore Roosevelt, who was (among many other things) a big game hunter.

And then there’s this line from Garnet in “Too Far:”

Are cows a wild animal that people hunt for sport in this universe?

You: White Diamond

Me, an intellectual: Steven Universe cow lore
