Send a post to someone that’ll love it.

Messaging news! Three things are happening! All of them are good:

  • There’s a new button on every post. It’s a paper airplane.
  • That paper airplane lets you send any post as a message.
  • And messaging is out to everyone. We flipped the switch.

So now 100% of you can talk to a Tumblr using posts instead of words. Or in addition to. Whichever. Have fun!

The paper plane is on iOS and the web right now, and it’ll be flung out to Android users over the next 24 hours.

But….why? How is this different than sending someone a chat message…? You took a good thing away and replaced it with a thing that forces us to send PMs, and another thing that is essentially a copy of the PM thing.

Tumblr is full of people who feel intimidated to approach people whose content they like. Post reply option gave them an easy way to share an opinion without having to reblog.

This chat thing WILL be used by people who are already mutuals and friends, but it completely alienates those who may want to interact with someone without feeling like they’re intruding. Just yesterday I received a message from someone who told me they feel like they’re bothering me when they use the chat, but they have no other way to comment on my stuff otherwise.

This was their solutions to the reply button? Tumblr staff are idiots and obviously don’t listen. >:/

The fuck Tumblr? I don’t know what you think the community wants but this ain’t it. Seriously, if I wanted someone to see a specific post, I’d either reblog it and @ them or, *gasp* send them a message with a link. Why does this need to be a separate thing? Why do we now need THREE different private messaging systems (asks, messages, and…airplanes)?

I can tell you where that paper plane should go but I’ll leave it to your imagination.

So much this! I would love to just be able to comment on specific posts, I don’t want to clutter my blog with reblogs, and messaging them directly just feels invasive.

Wes is honestly the only character is this story with some damn sense. For me, he's also the only likable character. I never liked Maddie. Call it naivety, but her piss poor life decisions are proof of sheer stupidity. I had a dislike for Theo the moment I found out he was a politician; very prejudice, I know. However, I think his reaction to finding out Maddie lied was MORE than deserving. *Kanye shrug* Anyway, I miss Wes... like, a lot. PLEASE, DON'T YOU DARE TRY TO MAKE HIM UNLIKABLE! ;_____;

I’m sorry to hear that. I can see where you’re coming from about Madeleine, but I still don’t think that she deserved that level of pure venom from him. Stupid or not, she’s struggling to deal with a difficult situation, and she made a bad decision. A lot of people I’ve heard from disagree with me there, so you’re not alone, but I feel like I’ve failed with this story if all but one of my characters come across as unlikeable, unsympathetic idiots. :(

I realize I’m not the greatest writer and I’ve always seen these sims projects as a fun way to practice and improve, but it’s still disheartening to get negative feedback, even if I do need to hear it. I am very glad you like Westley; however, I cannot promise that he won’t make some stupid and reprehensible choices along the way. He’s a criminal who has a long history of using people for his own nefarious purposes. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised that you like him at all considering the way he behaved in the first two chapters. He has sense, yes, but it’s a bit warped and twisted at times.

Anyway, thanks for your comment. I’ll give some thought to how I can either polish my existing characters or perhaps add in some new, more likeable ones down the line. Have a good week!

You can’t win everyone over, not everyone is going to like every character you write. Honestly, I would aim for flawed and realistic characters who act in character.

I’m personally a fan of Game of Thrones, there is a  good example of characters that are likeable, not because they are exemplary people, but because they are realistic.

Poor Maddie, I don’t think she deserves half the hate she gets. She is young, sheltered, and has made some bad life decisions under less than perfect circumstances. I adore Maddie, I’m  a bit biased because I empathize with her a great deal and I definitely get what she sees in Theo. They say girls like guys who take after their dad… and after seeing Maddie’ s dad it makes sense.

Just my 2 cents but I think you are doing fine. I really enjoy all of your characters and look forward to seeing Maddie and Theo progress, more adorableness with Sully and Lila, and seeing what kind of trouble Wes is getting himself into.

Meet Amell and Sir Galahad! I wanted to play with horses more, and Monte Vista is the perfect world to do it. Poor Amell looks absolutely terrified her first time in the saddle.
