It's all she's been able to think about for weeks, despite her best efforts. Maybe she was worrying over nothing - hell, for every supposed victim, millions more birthdays had come and gone without issue. It'd be ridiculous to think he could get to every last one, especially considering that he's apparently been at this since the eighties, or the seventies, or every decade prior stretching back through eternity. It feels like it's been an eternity, but someone does eventually approach her. They aren't picking up their coat, either. In fact, they hadn't even brought one. "Asuka." Asuka's eyes scan upward, from a years-old pair of combat boots to a stark white dress, until they finally arrive at Rei Ayanami's piercing scarlet gaze. "It's almost four in the morning," she informs, as if Asuka somehow isn't aware. "We're going to have to leave soon."

I'm finally done with this...my Femslashgelion fill for @jerzeyjimmy. Behold!

I definitely took my sweet time writing this, for various reasons...there are two other drafts of this from Asuka's POV that are far longer and drawn out, but they lacked direction and the Asuka POV just wasn't working. I swapped to Rei's POV and zoomed in on a particular scene, which is what finally made this writeable.
