boba/chapter 4.
“I’ll be right back, I promise,” he said, letting go of your hand softly. You stared at his back as he left you in the room with the doctor and a nurse. They began setting casts in place and doing more vitals. The whole experience went by quickly, your mind only thinking about Osamu and how he had to have been disappointed in you. Your thoughts swirled around your head, leaving you in suffocating silence when the hospital staff left you. Before leaving, they reassured you that Osamu and Rin would be back soon.
It had been minutes, and you were still stuck staring out of the window, still waiting for them. A flock of birds flew by, and you looked at their wings, shining in the sunlight outside. It seemed like forever, but finally, the door opened, revealing Osamu and Rin laughing to their heart’s content. It made you a little bit upset, being confined to your bed while they were able to walk around freely and share jokes like normal. The room seemed to hold it’s breath as the two of them finally moved their attention to you. You tried to force a smile but knew that it most likely looked like a grimace to them.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Osamu asked, moving closer.
“What do you mean what’s wrong? I have been sitting here for thirty minutes, not like you’d know,” you said, your tone biting. He flinched a little bit, moving back from your bedside.
“I didn’t mean to leave you here on purpose. I just had to do one little thing, is that too much for you to understand?” he said, grabbing his bags and walking out the door. You and Rin stared in shock as the door swung closed. Both of you didn’t move for a minute, still trying to process what had just happened. Finally, he was the first one to move, walking towards your bed, clutching a deck of cards, and two takeout boxes. He set the boxes down as he settled into a chair.
“I don’t know what’s up with him today. I don’t mean to excuse his actions, but i assume that he was still a little upset and on edge from the whole experience.” Rin said, shuffling the cards while glancing up at you every so often.
“Yeah… I know that it wasn’t all his fault, and I shouldn’t have snapped at him. But, he didn’t have to just straight up leave.”
“I’m sorry that we left you for so long. The team came by with food for you, and Osamu got caught up in a conversation that went on for way too long.” Rin said, turning to look out of the window into the expanse of towering buildings and lights everywhere. You sighed and turned to look out as well.
“Well there’s nothing we can really do now, do you want to play cards?” Rin asked, making you smile slightly. He dished out the cards, grinning as he did.
“You better not cheat this time!” you laughed, relaxing for the first time that evening.
A/N: Sorry for being MIA for so long. This chapter is really short, but here we are for now. I’ve been working on settling back into school, and making room for my hobbies, including writing. Hopefully another chapter will be on the way pretty soon, however, i make no promises. Sorry for the ups and downs in my posting. <3
