I’ve literally been asked twenty times in my writing classes why I have a Jewish political fantasy, and it’s just annoying by now. Especially when ‘it doesn’t make sense’ is their argument.

Why not? Narnia can have fucking lion-Jesus, but I can’t have fantasy kingdom observance of Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat? Of Hannukah and Yom Kippur? It’s basically ‘fantasy kingdom is Jewish’ and the Jewishness is world building and character development. Ugh. 

At this point, I’m spite-writing the book just to prove them wrong. 

(Not annoyed at tumblr users who ask this question because none of you have been in class with me for two years and have heard every single explanation for it btw.)

Just the fact that someone other than me is interested in this gives me life and puts ‘actually writing a decent summary of Hollow Crown’ up further on my to-do list xD
