Just some happy things.

I'm so excited after seeing the new WoW housing preview and videos. It's so much more than I ever dared hoped. Well done, Blizz, I haven't been this excited for a new feature in a long time.

If you had a base expectation, bump it up a notch or two. Blizz did not hold back.

(housing article for anyone interested)

Reading the article again, it far exceeded even my unrealistic expectations and left nothing wanting. At all. There is nothing I could think of to add to what they showed. This housing system has even more than I could have ever asked or hoped for for.

My slice of life art will finally be a reality for me and I couldn't be happier.

Do you have any tips on roleplaying in World of Warcraft? I am rather nervous/shy about it and have no idea where to start or where any of these events are or people to interact with!

Hello, anon! I wish I could be more help there. I haven't RP'd since Legion almost a decade ago, but I can hopefully give you a starting point.

For finding events, your best bet is to get on a heavy RP server, like Wyrmrest Accord for Horde, Moonguard for Alliance if you're on NA servers. They're the biggest that I'm aware of. There you'll find the most concentrated amount of events. Not too many of them are public though so finding a guild that centers around RP is the best way to go. They'll sometimes advertise in cities with dates and time frames that events happen so you can see if they work for you before you even join one. They can do anything from singular events and markets to whole guild story lines. Even small guilds can host fantastic smaller scale guild-only events if large guilds and crowds are overwhelming.

There are also a few RP walkup hot spots like the Blue Recluse in the Mage District of Stormwind for tavern-talk spontaneous RP. Having an RP addon like Total Roleplay (often called TRP) will let you see if someone has RP open or closed if they have that set just by mousing over them if they also have an RP addon. I never messed with them too much but it can easily give character info at a glance or if they're actively looking for it.

There may also be RP discords out there that list public events and locations, but I'm not part of that circle so I can't point you towards anything.

As far as being nervous/shy, I am too! For initiating RP if you don't want to wait for someone to approach you, it really isn't complicated. Guaranteed there are shy people also waiting for someone to make the first move, more than you think. Walking up can be as simple as starting with complimenting someone's clothing and asking where they got a particular item. That will start a conversation that develops from there naturally. It's the easiest opener, it gives a subject the other person can immediately grab, and anyone appreciates hearing they did well setting up their outfit even if it's just an ice breaker.

Best of luck to you, anon! It's a little daunting starting out, but once you find your niche it's smooth sailing from there. You've got this

Bringing this back with all of the player housing news I'm excited for. Vaard will finally have his tiny, human-sized home he lives out of. Every doorway has some wear and tear on the top of the beams where he's smacked is head over the years when not paying attention.

It took far too long but I've finally, finally completed the plate version of the Hidden Stars set that I've wanted since TWW launched. So many keys, so many bountiful delves, no luck in the vault. I'm finally free.

I doubt it'll fully replace my 7th Legion plate set I've been wearing since BFA, but it might make a good post-retirement Vaard set when he can't use Stormwind gear anymore one day.

It is a shame they don't share hair/horn/beard options between Draenei and Lightforged. It shouldn't be too hard to add and would give a lot of variety. Lightforged would still look unique with their permanent runes, tattoos and gold bits.

I'd love if they were cross-compatible between the two, at least as far as hair goes. I'd also love if the horns were separate from the hairstyles like female Draenei get to have.

I see but I cannot have.

I'm still sad a few years later after these got added that they're on the wrong subrace....

There they sit, locked to Lightforged, barred from me ever using a proper horn and side bang or side braid for Vaard. I've been drawing him with this hair for 12 years.

Tumblr will still be my main haunt, but as my feed dwindles over on twitter/x and stuff is going down, I finally made an account so I can keep up with the art I love. So many people I follow have exclusively hopped

Oh that's a possibility @wheeljak. It's a fractured Gift of the Naaru, the Draenei racial ability. Similar to the floating rune for Lightforged, but also completely different as it only pops up when using the heal if you're playing a regular Draenei. I can see it maybe being mistaken for the Lightforged rune. I draw it so infrequently though it's definitely not a constant that he has.

Same anon as a while back about the alternate race Vaard art. I hadn't realised their was also a Lightforged one too until I stumbled on the pic today. So cool how different he felt even though he was still a Draenei. Your art is always brilliant.

Thanks, anon! Vaard being mistaken as Lightforged comes up a lot, it's the most asked question and ask I've gotten since Legion.

It definitely makes him look so different. It's such a different vibe from normal Vaard. The one Lightforged Vaard I drew for a prompt was 8 years ago, hard to believe, so I figured it's time for an updated one!

Do you happen to have any tips for drawing horns?

Hi, Anon! I’ll definitely try my best. Horns are a little tricky since they’re so subjective and the styles/textures vary so drastically.

Mostly I’m going to be talking about texture here and I’ll try to keep it simple since they’re time consuming to draw.

Smooth horns are great and easy, can come in any and all shapes, but if you want to add more interest and character to the horns, it all comes down to how you texture them.  Here’s a simple smooth horn. It’s okay, it’s basic, but it works and will especially work better once it’s colored if it has a sheen or a matte look.

You can add simple lines to it to give it a bit more interest, but you can take it farther than just the cylinder look like drawn here. The lines give it the easy, quick illusion of being more dimensional, but it’s not the most interesting or dynamic.

You can play with the lines however you like to give the horns more uniqueness, such as a line down the center to sort of pinch it inwards. Still more dynamic than the smooth horn, but more interesting than the rounded one.

You can leave the lines as they are for an easier horn, or take it a step farther and use them as guides to texture them. This is where it gets fun, but time consuming. Definitely look up references of what you want to go for if you’re not sure. I highly recommend Ram, Ibex or Antelope references, Antelope being my favorite. They have so much texture to them in the forum of smaller and larger ridges, so here’s a horn based loosely (artistic liberties taken) off a mix of Ram and Antelope.

Getting into plates which are my favorite, there’s little to reference off of. Here’s a more dynamic, spiky look with plates using the guide lines as a base to get an ideal direction you want the horn to shape into.

Just take your guide lines and then extend outward. Add as little or as much wear, tear and damage as you want. Horns can get dry and crack, they can take a hit and break, age can cause grooves, your imagination’s the limit.

Outside of plates, you can look up any horned animal to get ideas for texture, anything from steer to deer and elk (if you want to get more into the antlered look), or mix and match textures from a few horn styles you like. Hope this helps! Sorry I can’t go more in depth, but I tried to explain it as best as I know how. Good luck with your horns!
