people complimenting marinette’s work: wow marinette this is cool! adrien:
Reveal idea:
So for about a month or so, Adrien has been asking his father for discarded textiles, just left overs or rejects in his fathers office after a design session.
He takes things like half used spools of thread, almost empty flasks of pearly buttons, a rejected roll of crocheted lace.
His father has no idea where Adrien is squirrelling them away to, but he’s actually okay with Adrien developing an interest in design and manufacture of clothing.
Gabe finds out from Nathalie that Adrien’s class is doing a project on manufacturing or something, and that parents are invited to look at the presentations. Gabe thinks ‘ah-ha!’ and has Nathalie open up his schedule this one time.
This is when he attends he realises where all his rejected clothing supplies have gone. The young lady who won his bowler hat contest is doing a project on textile manufacture. From the scraps she assembled a blazer, the outside is carefully arranged crocheted lace, the lining is soft pink satin (off cuts from an evening gown if he remembers correctly).
Her project covers how each type of fabric is manufactured, how they are coloured, stitched, knitted and pieced together to create a final product.
He understands, he thinks, his son has spent a month gathering treasures for this girl like a bower bird collecting blue bottle caps. So Gabe attempts to put a good word in for Adrien. So he tells Marinette about how Adrien has been putting a lot of effort into selecting the materials for her.
“Adrien did?” she asks, visibly surprised. “Is that true?” she cranes her neck at someone behind Gabe.
Gabe turns to find Adrien behind him, face pale, mouth gaping.
Oh… “Son, did you perhaps deliver those items anonymously?”
“Uh something like that…?”
Cue Gabe excusing Adrien and himself so he can apologise to his son for throwing off his game.
Sabine and her family
So @teammarinette was telling me this headcanon he has about Sabine and typed this and asked me to post it. He is Chinese too so it really gives an interesting insight. Personally, I really find this headcanon fitting and well thought. What do you guys think? Any opinions?
So you know how the Kung Food episode starts off with Marinette trying to translate stuff into Chinese so she can greet her uncle and then trying to memorise and pronounce those sentences. She then talks to Tikki about how she’s worried about her uncle visiting her house, and when he does arrive Marinette opens door, forgets everything, and ends up making a fool of herself. Her uncle ignores her and proceeds to purge her flowers, and then she ends up sitting on the sofa across from her uncle while she’s not speaking and trying to pretend her uncle isn’t there but her uncle doesn’t really care and happily proceeds to finish demolishing her flowers.
It’s a very short scene, really; less than two minutes of screen time but already this is a lot of content that we’re shown and a massive amount of stuff to work on.
Okay, with all due respect, there is a shit ton of generalizing here.
I know that u don't mean any harm with this but this made me quite mad. I'm Chinese Canadian, parents are completely Chinese and I have lived in Shanghai for a decent amount of time. My parents give me privacy, don't have to go and greet every relative, and they don't do a lot of the ridiculous Chinese parenting you mentioned.
I would also like to point out that interracial marriages are definitely not frowned upon, and although I get the save face thing I don't get the very very polite thing. Also, many children especially mixed raced children and children with Chinese parents that immigrated don't want to learn Chinese and can't speak Chinese at all.
First, let's not mention the ridiculous amount of work it requires (believe me I would know) and children all have short attention spans and would probably prefer having fun than learning languages.
Next, for many years there has been ridiculous stereotypes and discrimination on Chinese people. I'm not denying some Chinese people can be very impolite and rude but many American born Chinese or Canadian born Chinese or mixed raced children don't want to associate themselves with China anymore. And frankly, parents can get lazy too. With your description of Sabine, she probably didn't value Marionette learning Chinese that much or her parents or even grandparents were also immigrants. By the third generation immigrant, it is very hard to find one that can speak Chinese. I'm guessing that Sabines parents or grandparents immigrated to France and started a family there considering Sabines brother/cousin's French isn't half bad. French is also not valued at China so for Sabines brother to be okay at French he would have had to put a lot of effort. If he is even fully Chinese in the first place.
And maybe it's just because my parents are busy but they often don't go greeting every Chinese relative or friend. Sabine may have wanted Marinette to get to know her uncle and his culture (if he even is fully Chinese).
I'm not disagreeing with your head cannon or anything, but personally I find some parts very offensive. But even adding a most Chinese or generally would have made it better. And even if you have gotten some Chinese background from others, bear in mind that China is big and diverse and not all information might be accurate. Some of the things you mentioned are stereotypes in my eyes but maybe it's my upbringing or my parents upbringing.
And honestly, it's just a kids show. It might not even have been intentional.
she tryna do this for me too or…
Honestly..
Nice idea but the light makes it look like there’s a giant floating tit in space
Everywhere else in the world, people pride themselves on being multilingual.
In America, we’re told to pride ourselves on being too lazy to bother learning something besides English.
Spite the fuckers. Learn Spanish. Or French, Or Arabic. Or whatever you want.
It’s cool to be a polyglot.

me today
Imagine if the first one to find out Ladybug’s identity...
…is Chloé Bourgeois.
I can easily picture Alya finding out; I swoon at the thought of Adrien finally knowing. thelastpilot has given us an extremely spot-on characterization of Nino finding out who LB is.
But when it comes to Chloé knowing, a part of me hesitates. Because I honestly don’t know how she’d react to that. She LOVES her some Ladybug, but absolutely cannot STAND Marinette. How does a person reconcile that? Will she like Ladybug less? Or stop altogether? Or will she stop being awful to Marinette? It could go so many ways!
Imagine Chloé realizing that the girl she was secretly jealous of, the kind Marinette who made friends without money or fame or threats, the girl that Adrien seemed to enjoy being around, THAT girl was ALSO Ladybug? Who was loved by all of Paris? Including herself?
Would her jealousy just get worse? Would she hate Marinette more? Try to sabotage her because no way can she have it all. She can’t be this popular pretty girl in school and ALSO a super hero. She doesn’t get to be so close to Adrien in school AND have him gawk at her as Ladybug. It’s just so UNFAIR.
But then imagine Chloé knowing that with all the YEARS of harassment and rude comments she’d subjected Marinette to, LB STILL saved her life. Multiple times. Marinette let Chloé call her a friend when she was behind the mask, even knowing she’d got back to school the next day and hear the mayor’s daughter throw insults at her.
Maybe that is what, once and for all, stops Chloé’s reign of terror. Kinda.
Imagine the class’s reactions when Chloé starts asking after Marinette’s health. Suddenly feeling guilty and realizing the girl might be falling down a lot because she has bruises or broke something in a fight or GOD what if she has the flu?
Imagine Marinette’s skeptical reaction to that, and Chloé’s nonchalant “Well don’t think I actually CARE or anything…just don’t want your nasty germs getting all over me Marinette Dupain-Cheng!”
Imagine Tom and Sabine’s bakery suddenly getting it’s debts paid off, courtesy of the mayor. Imagine them getting invited to cater at high-profile events and galas in Paris. Suddenly business is booming even MORE than before. The Dupain-Cheng’s don’t have to worry about money anymore.
Imagine Chloé suddenly asking Sabrina to do two sets of geography homework. “You know…just in case I lose one or something!” But she knows an akuma attacked late last night and there’s no way Mari had time to do hers.
Imagine there’s an akuma attack, and all their classmates wonder where Marinette is, and Chloé distracts them with a “Who cares about her anyway? She probably tripped and got herself locked in a closet somewhere. Let’s just go!”
Imagine her purposely being late for school (she makes Sabrina do it too) as well so that the teacher leaves Marinette alone. Because if Marinette is in trouble then so is Chloé, and who would dare give the mayor’s daughter a tardy, and “We’re not late, the rest of you are just early!”
Imagine that Chloé Bourgeois still pretends to be the stuck up rich brat everyone knows her as just to keep Marinette’s secret safe.
Imagine her actually wanting to be Marinette’s friend even MORE, but feeling super embarrassed about everything between them and not really knowing how else to be. This is all new for her, and she’s never been really good at making friends. ;)
And she thinks maybe that’s what she deserves for treating Marinette so terribly. Maybe she doesn’t deserve to have her as a real friend. But she’s definitely going to do what she can to help.
She IS Ladybug’s number one fan after all.
