What Tommorow Would Bring
Reader was previously in a toxic relationship and is now in Gotham looking for a fresh start.
Thought whirled through your head as you opened your apartment door. It’d been exactly two months since you moved here and everything was just...so perfect.
You loved your apartment the freedom you finally had. Getting away from...him was new and exciting. There was no way he’d ever hurt you again.
You could finally just be happy.
With this knowledge the smile firmly plastered on your face never wavered. Even when you had decided to move to such a crime filled city like Gotham.
You admitted a long time ago that Gotham was definetly ruff around the edges. However you refused to leave, this was your new home and you weren’t letting anyone take that from you.
“Miss Y/N, you have a visitor.” Your doorman’s voice said through the intercom. A confused look crossed your face when you heard him.
No one visited you, not ever. Fear took over you then. What if,somehow, he got out of jail. You shook as you clicked the button in order to respond to the man.
“W-who are they?” You said still worried.
”I'm sorry Miss Y/N they've left.” he returned you let out a breath happy that whoever it was left.
You turned the com off then walked quickly to your home phone. You switched through the messages until you landed on one that shook you to the core.
’Um Y/N look I know you're not gonna take this well but, it turns out Brians got some friends. Just...Watch out ok.’ with that your bubble of happiness immediately shattered.
”Dick I need you to do something for me.” Dick nearly banged his head against the wall. The one night he gets off of course Bruce would need something.He sighed then nodded waiting for Bruce's answer.
”The Daughter of a friend of mine has recently gotten her ex thrown in jail for assault and attempted murder.” Dick definitely didn't like where this was going.
”Let me guess, he's out and looking for her?” Bruce looked mildly annoyed at the interruption then shook his head.
”No, he's sent some of his friends after her. I just need you to follow her around while I locate his friends.”
It sounded simple enough so Dick sighed and agreed to go.
He was really glad he did.
The next morning when it was time for you to go to work Dick followed close behind careful to not seem suspicious. He kept an eye out watching for anyone strange following you, besides himself of course.
You got to work safely and for that, you felt relieved maybe that voicemail was wrong. However, the hardest part of your day had yet to come.
Dick watched you carefully during work. He’d previously informed your boss that he was here to observe his employees efficiency. The man believed him simply because Bruce Wayne had informed him of his visit.
You kept yourself busy most of the Day careful to watch everything around you. As you glanced around you saw a very handsome man observing the room. His eyes would glide over to you when he thought you’d looked away.
Despite his innocent seeming appearance he still worried you. Could he be the friend set out to hurt you? You hoped not.
At the end of the day as you left you noticed that he too got up and left. It was dark out now seeing as you worked an extra long shift. Making everything just a bit scarier. As you walked and the man was still there you tried to keep your terror in check.
Dick followed you not really trying to stay unnoticeable. He didn’t figure you’d notice him and there was plenty of people around, meaning no one would be stupid enough to attack now.
As he watched you though he noticed your face twist into one of fear. He glanced around but saw nothing. No one was following you besides himself.
Perhaps you were seeing something he wasn’t.
He walked a bit closer and suddenly you sped up. He looked around quickly wondering if you recognized somone.
“She’s scared Bruce, I think she’s recognized, someone.” He said into the com as discreetly as he could.
”Alright follow closely, make sure to protect her.” with that he signed off. Dick rolled his eyes, of course, ed protect her it was the entire purpose of todays work.
You tried to lose the man but he seemed to know exactly what you were doing. He sped up when you did, followed each turn you made. He was obviously determined not to lose you.
So you broke out into a sprint.
He followed close behind even then. You ran as far as you could in the direction of your apartment. Eventually you got to a less inhabited street. The man following you was still there and he was much faster than you.
So you weren’t too suprised when he caught up. He, however, was suprised when you whipped around towards him and grabbed his arm twisting it behind his back. So suprised at your actions he didn’t act as you shoved him to the ground you knee in his back.
“Who are you!” You yelled at him the very few people on the street looked over at you but quickly walked on, since it was Gotham.
“Y/N, calm down I was sent by your father.” Dick tried to explain he really had no clue this would happen and he wanted to smack himself for being so oblivious.
“My father?” You said quietly processing what he’d said ou jumped off him blushing slightly. The man sat up and smirked at you.
“Usually women don’t slam me down till they learn my name first.” He laughed a bit then pushed himself up.
His words caused you to blush a scowl over comping your face. “Well what was I supposed to think! Normal people introduce themselves not stalk someone!” You yelled obviously pissed.
You huffed then walked around him continuing on your way. “Look I’m sorry ok, I’m Dick nice to meet you.” You turned towards him and eyebrow raised “Is that supposed to be a pickup line?” At your words he bust out laughing.
“No my name is Richard, Dick is my nickname.” He countinued laughing slightly as you turned red once again.
You rolled your eyes and walked on ignoring the laughing man who was following you. When you reached the door of your apartment building you turned to Dick a glare still firmly in place.
Dick didn’t mind your glare he simply found it amusing. He also found your pink cheeks to be amusing and he laughed a bit once again. How could somone who was so angry, look so cute?
“Thank you I guess.” You mumbled out to him, still ticked off.
“Oh so ou throwing me down back there wasn’t a thank you? Good I was starting to think you were a weirdo.”
He smirked a bit at your shocked expression. “I’m the one who though you were a weirdo. Youre the one who followed me around all day, you creep.” You countinued glaring at him but he didn’t seem even the slightest bit intimidated.
“Since it’s your day off tommorow, how about we got somewhere sogether so I won’t have to follow you.” He stated looking smug.
You raised your eyebrow at him. “I like how you just know that...totally not stalkery at all.” You smiled at his taken expression. It was finally your turn to laugh at him.
“I’m going to talk to my father tonight. Make sure he really did send you. If he says yeah I’ll meet you in front of my building at three tommorow. If he says no you’ll be meeting a couple of officers here.” With that you turned into your building leaving Dick standing there.
He watched you as you went in, more than excited for what tommorow would bring.
