Sketch Commissions!!

Alrighty everyone, I wanted to try something out!

For a limited time, depending on how this goes, I'll be opening up ~sketch~ commissions for about 5 dollars a piece on my ko-fi :3

This is just... I mean, I sketch a Lot more than I completely draw, y'all just don't see it, but this would be the perfect chance to!

I won't be tagging any fandoms, so if you could share this around I would heavily appreciate it.

If you'd like a commission, all I ask is that you keep the idea simple and Clean. I don't do NSFW art, but risque is fine!

Again, these are just sketches, and these sketches will have Some color, depending on what the idea is

Ko-fi link below the line!!

i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

There is now a bill (HR 5371: Choices for Increased Mobility Act) seeking to expand the type of wheelchair material that insurance will cover. Insurances right now cover aluminium frames, and do not cover titanium wheelchairs. Titanium is a LOT more durable resulting in less cost/replacements and absorbs more shock on bumps which can be a very important thing for people with spine or hip issues.

Please contact your representatives if at all possible! There are scripts in this link:

As of December this bill is being amended to clarify what is being covered and by who.

Prior to 2016, titanium chairs were covered by insurance, upon which insurance found out they were paying for "unnecessary" upgrades and decided to refuse to cover the chairs outright--meaning you had to pay 100% out of pocket, bill insurance after and Hopefully get partially reimbursed.

This bill would mean Medicare beneficiaries would only have to pay the 20% copay and the difference between aluminum and titanium or carbon fiber frames. And since American insurances model their policies after Medicare policy, other insurances would follow suit.

"In a historic “first-of-its-kind” agreement the government of British Colombia has acknowledged the aboriginal ownership of 200 islands off the west coast of Canada.

The owners are the Haida nation, and rather than the Canadian government giving something to a First Nation, the agreement admits that the “Xhaaidlagha Gwaayaai” or the “islands at the end of world,” always belonged to them, a subtle yet powerful difference in the wording of First Nations negotiating.

BC Premier David Eby called the treaty “long overdue” and once signed, will clear the way for half a million hectares (1.3 million acres) of land to be managed by the Haida.

Postal service, shipping lanes, school and community services, private property rights, and local government jurisdiction, will all be unaffected by the agreement, which will essentially outline that the Haida decide what to do with the 200 or so islands and islets.

“We could be facing each other in a courtroom, we could have been fighting each other for years and years, but we chose a different path,” said Minister of Indigenous Relations of BC, Murray Rankin at the signing ceremony, who added that it took creativity and courage to “create a better world for our children.”

Indeed, making the agreement outside the courts of the formal treaty process reflects a vastly different way of negotiating than has been the norm for Canada.

“This agreement won’t only raise all boats here on Haida Gwaii – increase opportunity and prosperity for the Haida people and for the whole community and for the whole province – but it will also be an example and another way for nations – not just in British Columbia, but right across Canada – to have their title recognized,” said Eby.

In other words, by deciding this outside court, Eby and the province of BC hope to set a new standard for how such land title agreements are struck."

Press release by the Haida Nation about the vote

Two really great things about this:

1- they didn't have to go to court. Cases like this usually take years or decades and are incredibly expensive for First Nations, even if they win.

2- to quote the press release: "In the agreement, British Columbia recognizes and affirms that the Haida Nation has Aboriginal title to the lands of Haida Gwaii. This recognition does not create title – Haida Title is inherent." That's a big deal!! The difference between Canada granting title versus recognising Aboriginal title is incredibly important in matters of sovereignty. Haida sovereignty and Aboriginal title is inherent; it does not need to be "given" by the Canadian government.

Because I circulated a call to action about it here that got some traction: to those of you who contacted Maine legislators when it counted, thank you— it worked. Maine just passed sanctuary-state-level protection for trans rights.

the humble "like" is oft mocked despite what it does for us. "like, three people" is a vastly different statement from "three people". "and i was like 'what the fuck'" is vastly different from "and i said 'what the fuck'". i love you "like" and anyone who says you make people sound stupid will be killed on sight
