Things I'm learning in my first TMNT 2003 straight run through
First time watching the show straight and not just chosen episodes, here's what I have learned from season 1 that makes me go "ooooh interesting":
- Baby Leo was afraid of heights
- Baby Leo saved Donnie from drowning once (why is Donnie almost always dying and in danger?)
- Raph really is the king of close call saves. That guy is literally jumping around the entire place having his brothers' backs and I love that
- Monster hunting doctor with blue hair and pronouns. She is buff. I hope I see her again.
- April is a research assistant fresh outta college. She's 23 and working for an evil scientist. I was also a research assistant fresh outta college. I did not, however, work for an evil scientist. Missed my chance to meet ninja turtles :(
- I think Raph was the first one to cry on screen
- They did Nano and his dad dirty. Messed up found families my beloved.
- Donnie really carried the team in Return to New York. No wonder he gets the short end of the trauma-stick. All their enemies need him dead to succeed.
- Season 1 turtles really just walked into a terf war + a Foot clan mutiny that was none of their business. Truly these guys did not have to be here at all.
- Season 1 Shredder really went "killing turtles is my thing now" my man that definitely should not have been your priority
- Raph and his desire to RIDE VEHICLES
- 2003 Donnie enjoys causing damage. You can just tell.
- THEY BEHEAD HIM IN SEASON 1???
- HE GOT BACK UP???
- Tyler I hope I see you again
- Donnie and his bag
- Donnie and his need for personal space
- I adore superhero Mikey I hope we see Century Man again (I know we do I saw the Christmas episode)
- Obsessed with psuedo-big brother Casey to Angel
- They really just left Jack Kirby in that portal
- "You're a girl?!" Looks away.
- THEY END SEASON 1 IN SPACE?
I gotta remember this was made in the early 2000s when shows usually did not end suddenly, therefore cliffhangers and open-ended storylines made sense to establish in earlier seasons because you were likely to get renewed. But my sense of closure was like "NOOOO."
