Are you into reading, watching tv shows, movies or even anime? Being part of any fandom can be super fun, especially when fans create amazing stories of our favourite characters!

Well, I have some exciting news~!! Me and my friends are testing out the idea of a platform where fanfiction authors can monetize their work absolutely legally and be protected systematically. One of the main goals is for everyone to have the opportunity to monetize their favorite hobby~!

About LORE: We're creating a fanfiction reading platform, a space where writers can finally monetize their incredible stories legally. Think Wattpad meets A03 with a dash of FanFiction.net vibes.

Why LORE? Fan artists can happily earn through donations, commissions, or selling their art, but unfortunately, fanfic writers often face judgment for seeking the same. Writers deserve to be paid for their passion and creativity. It's time to support your favorite writers, and we're doing it in a way that involves the whole community~!

How You Can Help: We already have 196 fanfiction creators on standby to help use - we're in the early stages, crafting the first prototype, and we need more opinions; your opinions are crucial!

Could you fill out our questionnaire to share your thoughts on favorite genres, ways to enhance our editing modes, preferred platforms, and how important it is to support your beloved writers. Your input guides our development~!

If you want to become a test user, please leave your contacts and the end of the form or DM me ♥️

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider supporting us! I'll continue sharing updates on what I'm allowed to disclose about the project. As a massive JOJO and Trigun fan, this endeavor is truly a labor of love for me! 😩🙌🏾💗

FYI I am doing this in my spare time, definitely not interfering with work~!! But great opportunity to put my tech skills to the test~!

I'd LOVE to make money from my hard work, especially considering I'm disabled and had my benefits cut...

....but am I the only fanfic writer who thinks this feels kinda skeevy and gross?

Part of the reason I love AO3 is because its one of the last places on the net with no ads, nothing being shoved down my throat

Look at what happened to YouTube. I don't want my few readers to have to put up with that.

(Also, this website needs a beta reader - the typos!)

hey-yo!

CEO speaking

most of the team isn’t native, so please excuse us the typos! we’ll fix it in a bit ♥️

I’ll answer in all honesty - we want the same, and we are irritated about YouTube as well 😭 this is why I especially want to invite you to fill in questionnaire and maybe even become our test user, if you want! we want to keep everything as user friendly as we can without crossing any lines. we are creators as well!

one thing that already sets up apart from YouTube is that we plan for ads to take a very little space on the page, be a still image and have writers to control how much and what kind of ads are put on in later versions. that can totally change after we get more writers to share their opinion :) good god, maybe Lore won’t even work at all! please help us find out, if you have time.

Hallo!

It's nice to speak to you, and I appreciate that, and your offer.

I just have a problem with the ethos of monetising fanfic as a whole.

I'd feel weird making money on work that I didn't create the source material for. I feel like it's on par with using AI to draw for you and then trying to pass that work off as 'your art', you know?

Like, I didn't lay the groundwork there. I don't feel like I earned the right to do that, y'know?

(The only people I'd argue who should do this are people who write for Harry Potter, because JK Rowlings world building is legitimately so bad that fic writers are putting more work into it than she ever did.)

I also have reservations about how your legal team is gonna feasibly manage this; different laws in different countries, original authors suing fan creators (*coff*annerice*coff*), AND getting advertisers involved.

Advertising inevitably leads to censorship of work to suit the advertisers.

There's a reason AO3 works the way it does. Are you aware of those parts of fanfic history? Like the LJ strike through? And what happened when ff.net "sanitised" itself?

How will you avoid situations like that, without losing the ability to monetise fic?

I hated hearing about the non-ao3 ao3 reader app that put up a pay wall for readers.

Regardless, I think that even if you were able to overcome all those knotty issues, I'd still feel bad about monetising my fanfic.

It costs nothing to make (except time and energy) and it costs nothing to read. I write because the stories want to come out of my head, and because it makes me happy to write something someone really wants to see.

I feel like bringing advertising near fanfic is going to make it lose something.

We're already seeing people trying to get AO3 to make an algorithm, people who think it already has one so they mistag or respond trying to "beat" it. They think it'll make them famous somehow, they think fic is a vehicle of influence; half these people don't even know how to separate fiction from reality yet.

I just don't think adding money to the pot can do anything but make fandom worse than it's become.

It feels like giving someone a gift and then asking them to scan a QR code to check out my sponsor.

IDK. I'm just really loathe to commercialise something so accessible.

These are just stories we tell each other.

✨Happy Beltane/Walpurgisnacht!✨

Or any other form of celebrating the beginning of summer!

I initially planned to start posting a certain fluffy Silrah fic I've been working on for about a year now, in parts around this date, because it's set around the end of April and start of May. I didn't finish it in time(still adding finishing touches), but I still wanted to post something related to it at least, so here's a little sneak peek from said fic, including a simple pen doodle by yours truly.

A Well Kept Secret - sneak peek:

After loudly exclaiming they had a surprise for her and repeatedly saying that she should hurry, Sky came running back to the kitchen, followed shortly by a sleepily blinking Farah wrapping a long satin robe around herself.

"Good morning," Saul smirked at her. She walked up to them, her hands rubbing the sleep from her face, followed by waving at her hair as her eyes glowed, fixing the loose braid dangling over her shoulder.

"Good morning to you too,” Farah replied, her voice a little hoarse. “I thought you said I needed to rest, not get woken up by a walking and breathing alarm clock.” Saul just chuckled, patting the small blond head popping up next to him. “Remind me to never sleep in again, will you?” she yawned. “What is this surprise I keep hearing about?”

He pointed at the basket. "Thought you could do with a bit of a breather, so we brought you an outdoor brunch."

Cocking one eyebrow, she walked up to the table, reaching for the hamper with the intent to lift one of the lids and take a curious peek inside. "Ah ah, you'll see what we've prepared later," the specialist chased her hand away. Farah hummed and squinted her eyes.

"I better get dressed quickly then," she replied, smiling at Sky, and disappeared back into her bedroom.

"Can I tell her about the biscuits now?" He whispered.

"Not yet, wait until we're outside and have opened the basket, alright?" Saul answered with a hushed voice, wiping a smudge of flour from Sky’s nose that he'd somehow missed while cleaning his face earlier.

"And don't forget," the specialist started with a stern expression.

"Don't spill the big secret," the boy finished his sentence, his face wrinkling with the most serious frown he could muster.

tw: brief mentions of miscarriage and suicide attempt

the dichotomy of the level of stakes in each episode of Downton Abbey will always be funny to me. Some episodes are like

“Thomas is on the brink of being fired for being gay”

“it’s the actual World War I”

“Sybil could very well die in childbirth”

“Bates has been arrested for a murder he didn’t commit”

“one of the staff caused a MISCARRIAGE of someone from Upstairs”

“Thomas has been found half dead in a self-inflicted bloody bathtub”

And then other episodes are like

“Will Carson let the staff go to the town fair”

“who will win the flower competition”

“The cooks dropped the chicken on the floor”

“Sybil is wearing pants”

“Branson is still fraternizing with the Downstairs”

Hello I have a new emotional support item and it is the amazing book binding of my Silrah fic by @simplybybea

These pictures are taken inside the car because the book arrived while I was out of town and I made my partner bring the package to the airport when picking me up.

Such cute packaging!!! Including a lovely note from Bea.

I am obsessed with the artwork Bea chose to represent Farah and Saul. Each chapter alternates between Points of View and so has the relevant art as a header.

She's soooo thicc! I wrote all that! And it and came with a ribbon bookmark!!

I am so freaking happy and this increased my motivation to be published some day. 💕💕 Going to be sleeping with this underneath my pillow, no joke. Thank you for the incredible gift Bea!!
