Opening Tumblr these days is like

This person wants me dead because I'm a Jew ... and block.

And .. this person wants me dead because I'm a Jew ... and block.

And ... another one of you? This person wants me dead because I'm a Jew ... and block.

.

You Jew-haters think you're trying to intimidate me, but you don't realize what being Jewish means. Every time you tell me and other Jews that you want us dead, we become more Jewish.

All I can say is that Pesach is going to be lit this year.

Okaerinasai!!!!!! I was pretty sure they’d come back for another season after the success of the movie but I’m still screaming, shaking, throwing up etc.

Kenji & Shiro-san are now arafifu aka in their 50s. The show will air in its usual Friday night slot starting in October. The regular cast will reprise their roles and the script will once again be handled by Adachi Naoko.

Comments from the team I translated from the official site:

Nishijima Hidetoshi (Shiro-san):

Everyone involved was sincerely hoping we could come together once more, so while getting here may not have been easy, I’m beyond happy we are now getting season 2.

I have to do even better to deliver for the viewers who have been rooting for us this far. I’ve always been passionate about having everyone enjoy and fall in love with this drama, but that passion is now even greater than before, so I’m going to give it my all.

Everything we’ve experienced in the real world, the characters have experienced as well. They’re getting older just like us. I hope to convey this with authenticity alongside Uchino-san, the regular cast and guest stars. The whole team is working with determination and earnestness just like before, so please look forward to the season.

Uchino Seiyou (Kenji) As time passes, Kenji and Shiro-san change, as do I as a performer. I want to confront this drama afresh.

I hope this season will feel natural and unstrained. May it also make you remember your loved ones more.

Kenji and Shiro-san are starting a new chapter in their lives. I would be happy to be able to share this mellow and gentle world with everyone.

Yoshinaga Fumi (manga author)

A lot has happened in the world between season 1, the new year’s special, the movie and now this upcoming season 2. I’m so glad to get to meet Kenji and Shiro-san who have aged just like us. I’m also excited about all the delicious food and the lovely soundtrack.

Abe Masashi (producer)

Getting older brings all kinds of direct and indirect trials and tribulations be it responsibilities at work, family members getting sick, or your body not being able to take it like it used to. Now in their 50s, Kenji and Shiro-san have to face various challenges that sometimes take an emotional toll on the couple. Still, food remains the center piece of their lives. I have faith the viewers will see the heartwarming meals of the characters and think maybe getting older is not all that bad. Please look forward to it.

Seto Mariko (producer)

We’ve kept you waiting!! Season 2 is finally here. I’d also been waiting for this moment I get to meet Kenji and Shiro-san again.

Life goes on for Kenji and Shiro-san. Ordinary days go by as they gather around a meal. Some things change while others stay the same, but the two of them continue their journey in their own way. We’re weaving this story with the same mindset as season 1, like we’re allowed to peek into the lives of Kenji and Shiro-san just a little from beside them. Whenever we start filming for this drama, it fills me with a sense of relief, like they’re really back. The whole Nanitabe family is working with determination, so please look forward to the airing date!

YAY so excited

ace lesbians are lesbian enough. ace gays are gay enough. ace biromantics are bi enough. ace panromantics are pan enough. ace polyromantics are ply enough. aces of any romantic orientation are enough.

you are enough. your love is enough. whether you are alloromantic or aro-spec or any label you may id with.

you are enough,

exactly the way you are. your identities are valid and your asexuality does not change how valid your romantic identity is.

not that my input really matters, but i don’t know much of lgbt history other than bits and pieces of stonewall, a little bit of the aids crisis, and the legalization of gay marriage; i’m an actual child and nobody here (kentucky) educates anyone/gets educated on it

how about instead of shaming people—especially young people—for not knowing our history, we provide them with credible resources?

here’s a long list of LGBT+ historical events worth googling and learning about. i’m not sure if all the dates and details are spot on, but, again, this is really just a guide for what to research on your own. to warn you, a lot of this history is ugly, including things like the conflation of pedophilia and LGBT+ people, genital mutilation, homophobia, transphobia, nazis, and wide scale persecution.

Free Resources:

Before Stonewall: The Making of a Gay and Lesbian Community (warning: this documentary was made in the 80s and is dated in a lot of respects as a result; it also features quotes from Allen Ginsberg, who we now know was a pedophile, but it’s still very informative in terms of history)

Some Purchasable Resources:

(most of these can be bought used online for pretty cheap and some can be found in libraries)

Before Stonewall: Activists for Gay and Lesbian Rights in Historical Context by Vern L Bullough (it’s a bit dated, but still informative)

A Little Gay History: Desire and Diversity Across the World by R. Parkinson

Sapphistries: A Global History of Love between Women (Intersections) by Leila J. Rupp

Gay Voices of the Harlem Renaissance (Blacks in the Diaspora) by A.B. Christa Schwarz

The Lavender Scare: The Cold War Persecution of Gays and Lesbians in the Federal Government by David K. Johnson

Queer Brown Voices: Personal Narratives of Latina/o LGBT Activism edited by Uriel Quesada, Letitia Gomez, and Salvador Vidal Ortiz

Transgender History: The Roots of Today’s Revolution by Susan Stryker

Asegi Stories: Cherokee Queer and Two-Spirit Memory by Qwo-Li Driskill
