as an indigenous woman i am only going to say this once: i need all the concerned citizens out there screaming colonialism and racism over the trailer for dawntrail to take a fucking seat and give the rest of us a chance to see what squenix does with it.
i want to assume you only have good intentions with this, but ffs we cannot simultaneously complain that everything is set in fantasy european analogs and scream racism whenever someone tries to do something outside of that.
there is so little media set in fantasy america analogs, but what is really grinding my gears is that you are essentially saying that any depiction of our cultures is inherently racist since you cannot possibly at this time know that this is some sort of colonialism story. we deserve depictions too, and we deserve the chance to see for ourselves if it measures up. we deserve fantasy stories that we can see ourselves in.
so please, give us a chance to enjoy something that might be representative of us. and trust us to tell you that it's offensive after we see it play out. if you have to block people over being excited, i can't stop you, but you need to realize that we don't need you to white knight for us.
