If you've been wondering what I've been up to recently, it is predictably this
POV you are costis ormentiedes and you just have to stand there while your employers do this in public.
Your honor I just,,, like them so much
Here it is---the full lineup of Queen's Thief protagonists. Working on this piece meant so much to me, even more so because I was getting feedback directly from Megan on what she wanted these characters to look like. That said, plenty of my own style snuck in (see: Kamet's freckles), and knowing MWT's record of letting her readers figure things out for themselves, I hope these "official" designs don't dissuade anyone from bringing their own interpretation to these characters. There are so many stunning artists and creators in this fandom, and it's the spectrum of styles and designs and depictions that have brought this series so much vibrant life for over two decades.
Gen, after all, would want to keep people guessing.
I'm humbled to have been asked to do this illustration, and I can't wait to see the outpouring of creativity Return of the Thief brings. Be blessed in your endeavors.

very happy with this chocolate box gift work. a kiss in Roa, before Costis rides for Attolia. Traced over an Agron and Nasir clip from Spartacus. never done something like this before and I’m pleased with how it turned out
okay but the way every character in the queen’s thief fails to recognize the full power and impact of their character…sophos being so fascinated by gen, the thief, to the point of mimicking him when at his lowest, yet uniting a fragmented country by his own hand; attolia, who believes herself undeserving of love and reiterates her barons’ hatred of her, YET receiving divine intervention in her love story and sending those that supposedly hate her into a panic when she threatens to leave; costis, in believing himself to be the standard of a soldier in morality and intelligence, is blindsided by teleus’s aspirations for costis’s future and the trust the king and queen place in him—going so far as to send him into enemy territory under the protection of GEN’S god and with only his core of kindness to complete a mission that provides them with one of their only major chances in stopping the medes; helen, who derives irony from being named after a woman revered for her beauty, being able to inspire loyalty and maintain power with her smile and steady nature; how kamet, a man of incredible intelligence and a destiny for tremendous influence, a man that thinks himself incapable of caring for others beyond favors they can exchange, is the one to go back to save a friend and offer to his life to save someone he has grown to love; gen, self-depicted as self-centered and explosive, is the fulcrum that prevents the stories from sliding into tragedy by always being kinder than he must. this is a love story because, only through another’s eyes, can the truth of their nature be revealed.
top 5 canon damen moments
1. "You're better than I am." Damen couldn't help his amused breath of reaction to that, or the long, scrolling look from Laurent's head to his toes and back again, which was probably a little insulting. But really.
He's such a dickkkk alsjdjisjd I'm completely obsessed with him. He says and does so many drop dead funny things, especially in book one, it was nearly impossible to narrow this down to only five moments.
2. Damen, seeing Laurent in the horse's path, appraising the situation like a mathematical problem, took a handful of the fabric at the back of Laurent's jacket and pulled him hard out of the way.
The mental image of Damen effortlessly yanking Laurent around like a kitten by the scruff of its neck has provided me endless delight. And the offhand competence too.....chef kiss. Sexy.
3. More sound on the stairs, the clatter of several urgent footsteps. Jord turned. Guymar and another of the soldiers were coming to the section he had ordered cleared. Damen passed a hand over his face. Everyone in the fort was coming to the section he had ordered cleared.
Please he just wants to kiss his man some more but people keep coming to the section he had ordered cleared!!!!
4. Lazar, emerging from under the wagon with a smudge on his cheek, pronounced it a broken axel. Damen, who as a prince of the blood did not excel at wagon repairs, nodded knowledgeably, and ordered his men to fix it.
I would never ever suggest that Damen is dumb because he's not but him pretending to know more than he does just to preserve his dignity. DUMB!!!!!
5. The guard turned towards the Akielon voice, and Lamen smiled at him, an easy smile full of his good nature, his tousled curls, and the relaxed temperament of his southern Akielon birth. He had a dimple in his left cheek. Charls watched the guard unwinch a fraction.
I owe Pacat a lifetime of fruit baskets for choosing to include this, the most important passage in all the books, in The Adventures of Charls. An outsider POV on Damen was so necessary and validating. Like shit, maybe I'm in love with him too.
(I am.)
Thinking about Eugenides and Attolia. Absolute brainrot. I feel myself slowly losing it
not to be boring but I like when evil characters…. well not become “redeemed,” more like they become domesticated. its just delightful when like an evil monstrous little bastard man goes from committing murder to getting mad someone misplaced their costco card or left the jar of mayo on the counter all day.
I just needed to preserve these tags. For reasons.

Had a funny little idea for a short story about a man commissioning a fake portrait and then I got emotional about it. “Lost Lenore” is the short story that came from that idea heh Lost Lenore The shadow of Lord Sterling’s late wife looms large over the lively atmosphere at Hartley House. But Hartley House is shaken up when one of its master’s numerous guests starts asking unwelcome questions. [Read Here]
6500 words. Warnings for: nothing
CS Pacat's like "and here's another protagonist who's a dark haired bisexual horny for blondes" and I for one think he's so valid for that
