BREAKING: The Ice Garden hates fun & democracy

After a spectacular win for Switzerland-Korea against this year’s Olympic gold medal game, there has been a devastating blow to Team Chaos. The Ice Garden refuses to allow the bracket to continue democratically and will automatically advance Switzerland-Korea’s first-round opponent on the other side of the bracket.

On the bright side, perhaps everyone who previously didn’t understand how brackets (and counting?) work now knows that 15 games in a 16-game bracket doesn’t make sense.

Are you a fan of the Canadian national women’s hockey team and/or the absurd? Well, I have great news for you because The Ice Garden started their Top Games of the Year bracket and we have a wonderful opportunity to try to prevent the PyeongChang gold medal game from winning and also have fun in the process. See, this bracket has one game (Switzerland-Korea from the preliminary round of the Olympics) intentionally listed twice and on opposite sides of the bracket, meaning this game could (and should!) face off against itself in the final.

So, be sure to keep an eye on The Ice Garden’s twitter account and vote for Switzerland-Korea!

Hi! Your blog is wonderful! Thank you for uploading so many games. You are truly amazing. Also, is it possible for you to upload the games from Pyeongchang? As someone who can't get enough of women's hockey, I would greatly appreciate it.

It’s on my mental to-do list, but for some reason (???) I keep putting it off. I’ll get around to it eventually, though. Probably.

hi I would like to know if You happen to have the link to the USAvFin game from 2017 worlds. When I press the link it directs me to the CANvRUS game instead. Thank you so much for posting all these links!!! You’re a true life saver

Hmmm, I just checked the link in the post and it works fine for me, but here’s a direct link to USA-Finland from last year’s worlds. https://youtu.be/yWJJkMq3-_s

Why is it disheartening?

Because Kelley Stack is the actual worst and Gillian Apps doesn’t deserve to have the award invented in her honour associated with such a person.

Is there a way to disqualify a player for being a garbage human? Asking for a friend

Unfortunately, the inventor of the award didn’t add any such rule. I’m sure that person regrets her error.

I have disheartening news for everyone. Kellie Stack has won this year’s Gillian Appsolade, along with the Angela James Bowl (last year, Jess Jones became the first player to win both awards in the same season).

The runners-up for this year’s Appsolade were Sarah Lefort (Montreal), Hanna Bunton (Vanke), and Brooke Webster (Vanke).
