Getting Back To It

life as a wanna be runner again!!
Avatar

Been swamped at work engineering new transmission parts for Ford and doing all the tests but I have been able to get my runs in and hit the weight room. And I even snuck out to watch my son play ball. He is 26 but he still wants me to go watch him play, and I truthfully don't mind in the least. He has watched me play since he was 2, and he is a better all around player than I ever was. And who could ever get tired of this little guy falling asleep on papa. And in December, there will be another to sleep on the other arm. Been hot and humid here, and have been running in the early mornings before work. I catch alot of shit about it, and people ask me how I can do it, and I just ask them why they don't. Usually quiets everyone down lol. Hope everyone had a safe holiday and is enjoying the summer. @marines-sweat-hard, thank you again my friend for your service!!

This little man brings such happiness to all. It is a laugh a second with him. He is now a parakeet, repeats everything he hears. And God forbid he hears a swear word. Seems to keep repeating those. And this is Donald's little, unborn sibling. He will be such a good big brother. Due December 19th. A Christmas baby. Have a good weekend everyone.

10 years ago the world lost a great young man. But he showed true heroism and saved the lives of countless fellow Marines! Semper Fi buddy!!

It has been awhile. Have been so busy. @marines-sweat-hard, got your message bud. Thank you!! My daughter is now pregnant with her second child, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Also went to Virginia to see another of the bloodline take the oath and become a Marine. I promise to try and post more, between work, working out, and life in general, not enough hours in the day. Have a good weekend everyone!!

Work is done. 🙌 Changed and 10 minute drive to race, 20 minutes to warm-up and let the run begin. My PR is 35:46 so I will see if I can get it. Hopefully I won’t poop out on the last mile which happens when I run right after nightshift. HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY 💚

PR. Way to go!!

Sign up for a triathlon I thought! It will be fun I thought! Holy shit are my legs trashed. They feel like they are filled with concrete right now, and throw in weights and it has been a very busy day. But I got to see this little stud and it's all better. I have just now figured out what all he did to my phone. He installed a few new apps, and moved things around. But that is what papa's let the grandkids do right? And of course, he did fall asleep on me for about an hour and a half. Have a good night/day tomorrow everyone. I'm sure I will sleep like a rock tonight.

4 Please. Day started with a 4 mile run. Weather is supposed to turn a little foul, so wanted to take advantage of the warmer temps. Then battleropes, chest and shoulders, and my body is absolutely flaked. But starting to see some gains, and I have some great buds that are helping me with the weight training. The biggest difference is my endurance while running. I am still a little shocked by that but I am not complaining. This was my Valentine's. My grandson(my daughter) sent me a video of the little man trying to say Happy Valentine's Day Papa, and I could actually understand most of it. They put this balloon on for good measure. And he just laughed and smiled the while time. He gets his disposition from his mother definitely. She was always a happy baby. 3 day weekend for me, so I hope everyone has a happy safe one!!! Dan

Breakfast with my favorite little man, then chest and battleropes with my buds. Not very often I am the little one, but today I was lol. And then top it off with a 5 mile run. Been a great day and it's only 3. Happy Monday everyone!!

Omg, buddy of mine came up with this!!

This has to be one of the funniest things I have ever read, a buddy of mine came up with this, and this is him to the letter:

I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer.

The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking.

My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing, and I said 'nothing'.

The reason I said 'nothing' instead of saying 'just thinking' is because she then would have asked 'about what?'

At that point I would have had to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics, which would lead to other questions.

Finally I pondered an age old question:

Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the testicles?

Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the testicles, but how could they "know"?

Well, after another beer, and some more heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with an answer to that question.

Getting kicked in the testicles is more painful than having a baby, and even though I obviously couldn't really "know", here is the reason for my conclusion.

A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child."

On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the testicles."

I rest my case. Time for another beer, and then maybe a nap in that hammock.

What an active day to say the least. Went for a 3.5 mile run in the cool damp weather, gym workout hitting shoulders, triceps, and abs, got to see my favorite little guy, he is talking up a storm. Along with saying "shit" , he has now added "bitch" to the arsenal. Guess he heard my daughter say it on accident and picked it up right away. I tried so hard to not laugh, but to say I failed would be a huge understatement. And my brother brought over his newest addition, his new puppy Lilly. She is a pitt-boxer mix and is she adorable and lovable. My brother also showed me the engagement ring he bought and was almost asking my blessing, since I am the only family he has left. Think the smile said it all. He is 46 and has never been married, so I am happy for him. Hope everyone has a great week!!💪💪👍

Good workout day. Shoulders and back are complete. And I survived the monsoon here and now we are supposed to get a pretty bad ice storm. Took advantage of a window in the weather and got a quick 3 mile run in. For the first time in 3 weeks it wasn't a single digit degree run. Little man seems to learn something new almost daily. I heard him say shit for the first time, and I couldn't stop laughing. His mother(my daughter) was correcting him and I am busting a gut laughing. Oops. That's what papa's do I guess. Hope everyone has a safe day!!

It has been a little chilly here in Bradford PA. Wind chill was at 26 below today. Only ran 3 miles. People ask me if I'm nuts, and yeah I probably am, but once you start moving, it isn't that bad. Sunglasses are a must, snow blindness and to protect the peeper from the wind. So I have been spending some extra time in the gym since my mileage is down. Somebody is very sick, and has been for a few days. Double ear infection and fever, and the nasty cold that is going around here. He wouldn't leave my side and wanted me to hold him the whole time. I am certainly not complaining. My daughter got an Alexa for Christmas, and it is really neat. I was asking it all kinds of questions and getting some funny answers. It got to the point that Donald tried talking to it, bit it was babbling. It was so cute. I would say something, and Alexa would answer me, then Donald would try and nothing. He would look at me like "papa, nothing is happening, will you make it talk?" We did that for a good half hour. I wish I had a video. I hope everyone had a great New Year. Dan

Received this message this morning, and to say that is amazing to hear that is an understatement. I have heard this several times over the years and I hope to hear it more. Getting one person off the couch is so much payback to the sport I love. And everyone on here inspires me. So it's what we do as runners and fitness geeks. Little Donald had his first Santa experience and to say he wasn't amused is a slight understatement. He looked right at me and held his arms out for me to pick him up and get him the hell out of Dodge. And me being the grandpa I am, I got him away lol. The one picture is my daughter at the same age. To say they look alike at that age is putting it mildly. Am really starting to feel the gains from the weightlifting. The running is getting better, and hoping to have a great half marathon in March . If I don't post again, Merry Christmas everyone. Please stay safe. Dan
