21 - The World: The Cullen Crest

Keywords: Completion, integration, accomplishment, travel

For The World, I wanted something that encompassed Twilight as a whole. I thought that putting all eight Cullen’s on one card would be too much, so I decided that the Cullen Crest would be a good alternative. The Cullen's are Bella’s world. Once she decided to join them, there was no turning back for her.

20 - Judgement: Charlie Swan

Keywords: Judgement, rebirth, inner calling, absolution

Though Charlie could be The Emperor, I thought he made a better match with Judgement. One, for obvious reasons. Charlie is judgemental towards Edward and Bella’s feelings for him, but it goes beyond that. When Bella comes to live with him, she causes a change in him. He now has someone to care for and to make proud. Then he starts a relationship with Sue Clearwater, who I think fills the void Bella leaves once she gets married.

19 - The Sun: Jacob Black

Keywords: Positivity, fun, warmth, success, vitality

Jacob was a hard one to place, but ultimately, I chose to have him represent The Sun because it is how Bella sees him in the beginning. Bella often describes him as shining and happy, he keeps her sane when Edward is away, and she also calls him his “own sun” at one point. Though later, when Jacob becomes a wolf, he becomes darker and less optimistic about everything, at his core, Jacob is the epitome of The Sun.

18 - The Moon: Edward Cullen

Keywords: Illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, intuition

If Midnight Sun was any indication that Edward is The Moon, I don’t know what is. He’s the most anxiety and fear ridden person I’ve ever encountered. Being able to hear thoughts gives him a look into people’s subconscious and he’s also really good at creating illusions about how he thinks things are going to happen. He’s very imaginative.

17 - The Star: Renesmee Cullen

Keywords: Hope, faith, purpose, renewal, spirituality

I chose Renesmee to be The Star because she gives Edward and Bella (and the rest of the Cullen's) a renewed sense of purpose. They don’t know how long she’ll be around and they don’t know if she’s the only one of her kind. Her existence is a mystery but also something that brings the family together.

15 - The Devil: The Volturi

Keywords: Shadow self, attachment, addiction, restriction, sexuality

I chose The Voturi to represent The Devil for obvious reasons. Most vampires fear them because they are the law and they do not hesitate to serve (what they believe) is justice. They are always watching and waiting, ready to exploit and obtain those they want to possess.

14 - Temperance: Renee Dwyer (Swan)

Keywords: Balance, moderation, patience, purpose

Temperance was a hard one to match, but I ultimately chose Renee to represent it. I think as Renee has grown as a person, as much as we see it, her marriage to Phil, Bella moving out and then getting married has really helped to push her into adulthood. She learns that she’s happy settling in Florida, urges Bella to do what’s right for herself and not to listen to the ramblings of her mother, and shows that she’s capable of taking care of herself. Though she may not be the first in mind to represent Temperance, I think she is definitely adequate enough.

12 - The Hanged Man: Billy Black

Keywords: Pause, surrender, letting go, new perspectives

I chose Billy to represent The Hanged Man because throughout the series, he begins to learn that vampires aren’t always as bad as his ancestors made them out to be. He learns new perspectives and lets go of his previous prejudices. I think he shows a lot of growth in the series, though we don’t see a lot of him.

11 - Justice: Rosalie Hale

Keywords: Justice, fairness, truth, cause and effect, law

I chose Rosalie for Justice because of the infamous scene when she kills her abusers and wears her wedding dress to kill her ex-fiancé. Throughout the series, Rosalie is concerned with Bella being involved with the Cullen's because it’s dangerous for her family. She serves justice to those who would otherwise go free and wants to protect her family from the law (i.e. if something bad would have happened to Bella and the Cullen's would be implicated).

10 - The Wheel (of Fortune): Seth Clearwater

Keywords: Good luck, karma, life cycles, destiny, a turning point

Seth is a happy kid. He embraces becoming a wolf and loves it much more than the other boys. He and his sister Leah also changed as a result of their father’s sudden passing. Losing his father and shifting for the first time is obviously a turning point for his life, as well as representing life cycles. His father is gone, but his new life is beginning.

9 - The Hermit: Leah Clearwater

Keywords: Soul-searching, introspection, being alone, inner guidance

I found that Leah fit The Hermit really well. Her whole story is that she’s been dropped because of the Quileute’s imprinting, then she’s forced to join the pack and have to live inside Sam’s head every time she’s in wolf form. She’s used to being unwanted and being alone, but she uses Jacob breaking away from the pack to her advantage and can begin to heal and learn to love herself again.

8 - Strenght: Emmett Cullen

Keywords: Strength, courage, persuasion, influence, compassion

This one is really obvious! Emmett is the poster child for strength and courage. He died wrestling a bear. It’s also made known in Midnight Sun, that Emmett has a deep and immediate need to protect Bella from James. He shifts into big brother mode with ease and is ready to protect her at the drop of a hat.

7 - The Chariot: Sam Uley

Keywords: Control, willpower, success, action, determination

Sam was an easy choice for The Chariot. As the alpha of the Quileute wolf pack, he embodies all aspects of The Chariot card. He has the ability to lay down an edict that the other wolves cannot disobey, he is always quick to action to protect the tribe, and is determined to keep the traditions of the pack and the tribe, He may be hard to like sometimes, but he’s a good strong leader and is a great representative of The Chariot.

6 - The Lovers: Edward and Bella

Keywords: Love, harmony, relationships, values alignment, choices

Edward and Bella were the clear choice for The Lovers card. The beginning of their relationship is difficult and tumultuous, but once they finally realized each other's feelings for each other, their relationship (with each other) became easy. Aside from Bella’s choice to become a vampire, all of their other expectations lined up and once Bella turned, everything about their relationship fell into place. Just proves that all relationships, even fictional ones, take work and compromise.
