She looks up at him. His smile seems to take pleasure in her frown, to mock it delightedly. “Or I shall tell his majesty that your presence here impedes my work. Unless,” Lucienne adds, “you want me to tell Morpheus.”

Still, that cocky smile. He leans on a nearby shelf as if he doesn’t intend to go anywhere else.

“You want his attention,” says Lucienne. “It doesn't matter if he’s punishing you or praising you.”

The Corinthian shrugs. “It’s all the same, isn’t it?”

- Lucienne tries to keep the Dream Lord's greatest creation under control.

Okay. I don’t think anyone has said it yet, so I guess it’s up to me.

look, I remember when I first heard of the Good Omens fandom, and naturally, Aziraphale’s name, I was struck frozen like, “Wait, I know that name. Israfil, that’s a first. Which is what reluctantly pulled me in

(I’m a Muslim)

See, growing up, we have this nursery rhyme for the 10 most important angels that you have to know, and Israfil’s name was right up there (if you want to know, the other nine are Jibril, Mikail, Mungkar, Nakir, Raqib, Atid,Ridhwan, Malik andIzrail)Christians to mention some of them in movies, I mean, you guys have versions of them too, right? So I’ve naturally heard the mentions of Jibril (Gabriel), Mikail (Michael) and Izrail (Azrael), but I was kind of stuck at the mention of Israfil of all angels, so throughout all 6 episodes  I kept trying to remember what his main purpose was, in the nursery rhyme (you know that thing that you can’t think of something purely due to the reason because you’re looking for it?). As the story progressed I began to recall that he was a pretty big deal for starting Doomsday, but it wasn’t until this scene happened;

[image id: a four-page comic. it is titled “do not stand at my grave and weep” after the poem by mary elizabeth frye. the first page shows paleontologists digging up fossils at a dig. it reads, “do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.” page two features several prehistoric creatures living in the wild. not featured but notable, each have modern descendants: horses, cetaceans, horsetail plants, and crocodilians. it reads, “i am a thousand winds that blow. i am the diamond glints on snow. i am the sunlight on ripened grain. i am the gentle autumn rain.” the third page shows archaeopteryx in the treetops and the skies, then a modern museum-goer reading the placard on a fossil display. it reads, “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, i am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. i am the soft stars that shine at night. do not stand at my grave and cry.” the fourth page shows a chicken in a field. it reads, “i am not there. i did not die” / end id]

a comic i made in about 15 hours for my school’s comic anthology. the theme was “evolution”

“It is you!” Delirium exclaims, and sways on her feet. Dream wonders if traveling here has cost her some strength, but it doesn’t seem that way. She sways again, closer to Dream, and on instinct he reaches out a hand. She catches it in one of hers.

“Oh, big brother,” says Delirium, shifting her weight from one foot to the next. “You were gone a really long time.”

Dream blinks, tilting his head. “You seem different somehow, sister. What happened while I was away?”

She only shrugs. “Buncha stuff. I changed a lot. I’m sorry, I’m not the way I was when you left.” She squints at him. “Maybe you aren’t, either.”

“No, I suppose not.” He seats himself on the edge of the bed so as to be on eye-level with his sister. “My memory is fractured, little sister. It took me days to remember how to summon you and our other siblings, and now I have only called you here by accident. Where is everyone?”

“Busy,” comes the simple reply. “They’re always busy.”

Tears prick at the corners of Dream’s eyes, unexpectedly. “Didn’t they know I was gone?”

"’Course we did. It was Destiny. He said not to do anything...well, he didn't say what we should do. So we didn't. Anyway, I missed you. It was wrong what happened to you.” She looks at him. “Dream...? If it were me that was kidnapped, you'd come finding me, wouldn't you?"

Dream grasps his sister's delicate hand. "In a heartbeat."

Chapter 5

“Like his stranger, Lucienne is not so difficult to read. She has the grace and patience of an ancient being just like Morpheus does, but moves and goes about her business in a very human manner, much like many people Hob has known throughout his long life. Somehow Lucienne manages to embody all of them. She feels like a neighbour, someone you were familiar with in spite of not knowing them very well, nor needing to know. Hob finds himself growing more empathic toward her. He pictures her walking through the vast, empty bookshelves of the mighty library. Imagine how hollow and lonely she must have felt, realising that even all her precious stories were lost. Might she have been bored, or frustrated? He already knows that she blames herself, somewhat. He thinks it would have been so painful to have that thought always in the back of her head.”

AU where another nightmare who has wandered to the Waking World in search of Dream discovers his imprisonment, and goes on a rampage, slaughtering everyone in the house. But after consuming Roderick and his thirst for power, Ethel and her desire to keep her child, and Alex and his longing for acceptance, she finds herself twisted into something terrible…something that no longer wants to free her master and return to his rule.

She walls up the basement, trapping him inside. She hollows out a part of the Dreaming for her to be sovereign over. She watches the house get cleaned up, the case of the murder grow cold, the estate sold and eventually bought by property developers. The developers split the house into apartments and rebrand it as the Pink Palace.

Dream is helpless, watching his rogue nightmare turn into the Beldam, luring unhappy children into her world. But soon he doesn’t find himself lonely, as the souls of these children linger, keeping him company. Years pass, and Dream nearly gives up hope of being freed.

Until a little girl, looking for another door, stumbles into the basement.
