The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Gets New, Final Anime Chapter

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., the manga-turned-anime about a high school psychic, will get one more anime, it was announced today. Said anime will be the conclusion of the Saiki K. story.

A visual teaser was revealed for the concluding anime displaying lead character Saiki Kusuo saying “it’s finally over, huh…”

It is yet not clear whether this conclusion anime will be a third season, one-off or film.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. began life in 2012 as a manga in the pages of Shonen Jump before being turned into an anime in 2016. The second season of the anime aired this year between January and June. Here’s how Crunchyroll describes the first season:

Saiki Kusuo is a typical 16-year-old high school student… except he has psychic powers. He can use them to get whatever he wants, but he also knows everything that people are thinking. Everything. No surprises, no secrets, no normal human experiences. He’s kept his powers in check since childhood, but with the temptations of high school now on his mind, he’s bending the rules—and spoons.

Netflix Producing Live-Action Death Note Sequel

Why?

There were some pretty strong negative reactions in the anime community about Netflix’s live-action Death Note film, but it seems to have been successful enough to warrant a sequel.

That’s the word from the Hollywood Reporter, which says Netflix is developing a sequel to the 2017 film.

The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Greg Russo, who is also attached to Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat reboots, is working on a script.

According to Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, the 2017 Death Note was a “sizable” success for the streaming service.

"I want to eat your pancreas" Anime Film is Coming to US Theaters

Yes! Fucking finally!

Aniplex of America had its Anime Expo 2018 industry panel yesterday, bringing a few announcements along with them in the process. One of those announcements involved plans to bring the I want to eat your pancreas anime film to US theaters in "the near future."

Studio VOLN (Ushio and Tora) produces the adaptation of Yoru Sumino's award-novel, with Shinichiro Ushijima (Hunter x Hunter) directing while Yuchi Oka (Eromanga Sensei) handles character designs and chief animation direction. Mahiro Takasugi voices the unnamed protagonist, "me," and Lynn (Mashima in High School Fleet) voices female lead Sakura Yamauchi.

We'll have to wait for a concrete date. In the meantime, the official website is live and you can check out the first trailer below.

Description:

Yoru Sumino’s debut novel, I want to eat your pancreas, generated massive popularity after being published by Futabasha Publishers Ltd. The story follows the relationship of two high schoolers, an apathetic and reserved unnamed protagonist and the popular girl in class, Sakura, who suffers from a terminal illness. The novel was later adapted into a live action film by the same name in 2017 starring Takumi Kitamura and Minami Hamabe. In addition to becoming a box office hit, the live action film garnered many Japan Academy Award nominations including Picture of the Year, Best Screenplay, Popularity Award, and Newcomer of the Year award for both lead actors.

About I want to eat your pancreas:

With no interest in others, a high schooler spends all of his time reading books - this is "me." One day, I come across a book, titled "Living With Dying."

It turns out to be a secret journal kept by Sakura Yamauchi, who is a popular girl in class with a genuine personality. Diagnosed with a pancreatic illness, the diary notes about her limited time left.

Sakura, who lives with a secret illness, and "me," who keeps her secret.

--- Their relationship doesn't have a name yet.

Bleach Manga Author's One-Shot Love Comedy BURN THE WITCH to be Published on July 14

The official website for Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump confirmed today on June 28 that Bleach manga author Tite Kubo's newly-drawn one-shot love comedy manga titled BURN THE WITCH will be published in the magazine's 33rd issue to be released in Japan on July 14. It has been 22 months since he ended the serialization of Bleach in the magazine in August 2016.

The length of BURN THE WITCH is 62 pages, which is unusually long for a one-shot story. While its plot is kept secret, the site offers three keywords: "Witch," "Dragon," and "Reverse London." The third word may suggest the story is set in the UK.

Japan's top-selling weekly manga magazine now celebrates its 50th anniversary, BURN THE WITCH will be released as a part of its anniversary project.
