“Um, Lena, here’s something wrong with this candy.” Kara holds up the bag, flips it over and reads the back. “I think it might be expired.”
Kara holds up the bag and Lena snatches it out of her hand. The bag is empty.
“How many of these did you eat?”
“There weren’t that many in there. Five, maybe?”
“You ate five of these?” Lena waves the bag at her.
“Yeah,” Kara says, her face contorting in disgust. “They were not good.” She smacks her lips, sticking her tongue out and shaking her head.
“Those are edibles, darling.”
“Edible is a stretch, Lena. They were so bitter.”
“That’s because they’re high-dose THC gummies. Also known as edibles.”
“No. You’re definitely not going to die. In fact I don’t know if they’ll affect you at all. I’m not sure how your system processes THC. You may not even be able to get high. Or it may have a significantly reduced effect.”
“They’re hundred milligram gummies. And you ate five.”
“Well... I have a pretty high tolerance, and I usually cut them in half.”
“And I took ten times as much as that?”
“Are you sure I’m not going to die?”
“You are not going to die.” Lena takes Kara’s hand and kisses the back of her palm. “I promise.”
Kara grins and pulls Lena in for a kiss. “How long until I feel it?”
“If they’re going to affect you, you should start to feel the effects half an hour to an hour from now.”
“So I guess we just wait.”
“What should we do while we’re waiting?”
Lena arches an eyebrow and climbs into Kara’s lap. “I have some ideas.”
