The Product Kickstarter Did NOT Want You to See
30% funding in less than 4 days...before Kickstarter decided to suspend the “Reimagined Bondage Cuffs” project.
We give our apologies for a delayed post on the matter; we were rather shocked at the sudden change of heart that Kickstarter had. But our shock was not as great, I think, as the surprise of those supporters we had gathered within the four days the project was live. For those that did support and fund us during that time:
Within 24 hours of learning of the suspension, we did our best to get in touch with the support staff of Kickstarter. We were met with vague answers, and no real explanation of WHY the project was suspended. After simply being told that “your project does not fall within our rules,” the support staff ignored our emails asking for further information.
The rules themselves are vague at best, and much more risque projects have successfully funded. We did our research, and for one reason or another, were kicked down on what seems like nothing other than a whim.
Being one of the top grade and well-known crowdfunding sites, not recieving any kind of professional communication from Kickstarter has been very...eye opening, to say the least. The site seems to pride itself on forward thinking, and inspiring people to have a hand in the creative process and in what products they wish to see come to life.
Despite the fact that other like-minded, Kink and BSDM friendly projects have been funded here, Kickstarter has proven itself to NOT be supportive of a Sex Positive community. Disappointment does not begin to cover how we feel about this.
Giving up is NOT in our nature, however. We have relaunched the project on IndieGoGo.
Three days in, and we are at 23% funding!
