primarily white “feminists” who otherwise advocate for bodily autonomy have either been silent or explicitly supported the first piece of legislation. here is a change.org petition created to oppose the hijab/niqab ban. as a reminder, when you go to sign, do not select the option to donate: none of the funds go to the cause. when you’re signing, use numbers from 75001 to 75021 (french zip codes) because international/fake zip codes will invalidate your signature (via zhongsliang on twitter).

i’ll be adding more information/links as i get them so please check the original post for the latest updates!

edit 1:  if you’re using one of the above zip codes, enter paris when prompted for your city (via varonasdarling on twitter).

edit 2: here are two more petitions (1, 2); use the same instructions as above when signing.

edit 3: parisian zip codes only go up to 75020! do not use 75021.

hi everyone, i know it’s been a while since i’ve been active, but i’m fortunately about to graduate from school finally ! in order to complete my BA in sociology, i have a research project that i’ve been working on for a few years now. my study is over minority women’s experiences within higher education.

~ the purpose of this project is to provide a better understanding of the individualized experiences that female-identifying minority individuals have had regarding their pursuit and/or employment of higher education. if you fit the criteria to participate in my survey, i would SO appreciate your participation and input in my research! below is the link to the survey, thanks so much <3

there’s been a fuck ton of aapi hate since the beginning of the pandemic and especially lately, with the georgia shootings today, and even the grammys last sunday

all this said i just wanted to share a few resources (none mine!):

- anti-asian violence resources (this resource is also linked in my pinned, it contains information, petitions, places to donate and a lot more)

- stop asian hate (contains petitions, places to donate, ways to spread the word and more)

- sites to donate to and share (if you have a twitter please consider retweeting)

- a cumulative twitter thread with a little bit of everything and more than i explained

if you have any resources you wanna share reply and/or reblog and i’ll add it, and with that please share this with the same tags <3 sending love to my fellow aapi, please stay safe all of you and don’t be fucking racist :]

one of breonna taylor's murderers was charged with wanton endangerment for firing into her neighbors' apartments. not for murderering a young woman in her home. but for property damage. no other charges were filed.

if you can, now would be a good time to donate to the Louisville bail fund. hundreds of protesters are currently marching with a long day ahead.

black lives matter.

Anyways donate to the red cross in Beirut to help the wounded from that aweful explosion. Lebanon has a corrupt government and any strange donation links could just be handing money to the goverment. The red cross is safe and is a guaranteed way of helping those affected by the explosion.

Also know that petitions most likely won’t do anything to help. Donating to links which are confirmed to be safe or sites like the red cross are the way to go!

Another tip: if you are donating check in which currency. Lebanese pounds are practically worthless atm so donate in your local currency so you at least know how much you donate.

[ID: a screenshot of a tweet from @blondedangel that says, "you can DONATE to the Beirut local ambulance service by downloading the Lebanese Red Cross app & signing up. then: -select any local ambulance station in Beirut (see map) -donate". Below there are two screenshots, one of the Lebanese Red Cross app in the app store, and the other in the app to choose a donation amount. End ID.]

Holy shit…. Never Again Action (the group who started #JewsAgainstICE) had an ICE detention truck drive through them while they were shutting down Wayne Detention Center in Rhode Island this evening (August 14th).

Like they were holding the line across the entry gate and refusing to let night shift guards in and a massive truck just, fucking, drove up to them then slowed as the protestors got up from where they were sitting, alarmed, then the truck accelerated into people.

It doesn’t seem like there are any serious injuries. The people who were around the truck after it stopped accelerating into people were pepper sprayed.

The truck was driven by an ICE guard.

As this information is publicly available, the law in the US does not consider this doxxing, which is why it was on twitter on the first place. Here’s the guy.

Its the same people. If you can stomach working for ICE its because you’re a right-wing fascist. Same tactics, different day.

Fun fact, y’all!! Jewish protesters have been surrounding and shutting down ICE detention centers for weeks now, and we’re getting absolutely NO media coverage. None. In the slightest. And by jewish protesters I mean THOUSANDS OF US HAVE BEEN PROTESTING FOR NIGHTS ON END AND OVER 250 HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AT THIS POINT AND WE ARE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. This is probably the biggest protest movement in american jewish history and it’s getting no coverage. We got hit with a truck DRIVEN BY A DETENTION CENTER GUARD and pepper sprayed and many people ended up in the hospital - one man in his sixties has a broken leg and a potentially broken back because of it. PLEASE REBLOG THIS. THOUSANDS OF YOUR JEWISH SIBLINGS ARE TRYING TO SHUT DOWN THE CENTERS AND WE’RE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. PLEASE PLEASE SPREAD THIS AROUND.

Never Again Action has been protesting ICE the entire time. Recently they launched a virtual protest against ICE’s vigilante justice program in Chicago. If you want to read more about this program, this is a link to an NPR article (dated 7/10/2020) and a Chicago news article (dated 7/10/2020)

Here is the Google Docs with info on this campaign. Basically, the idea is to flood the application website with thoughts, opinions, etc.

Please participate in this protest if you can and spread this information to others.

I saw someone on my dash saying that the word “chile” is not from black culture. Allow me to educate you.
The term “chile” is a aave from black culture.  It is a play on the word child. If you are going to use black slang please educate yourself on where it comes from.
AAVE is an acronym for African American Vernacular English. Other terms for it in academia are African American Varieties of English, African American English (AAE), Black English (BE) and Black English Vernacular (BEV).
Just because black culture and slang has become popular culture, doesn’t mean you get to diminish where it comes from.
