When I was little my mom’s meatloaf was my favorite food. But ONLY her meatloaf. I didn’t like anyone else’s, and she told me that she would teach me how to make it when I was older. And when I was like 19? She finally taught me, but she told me never to tell anyone else and I was like weird but okay
Anyway, she was super fucking homophobic and abusive to me when I told her I was gay, so here’s the recipe
You can get almost all of these ingredients at the dollar store, and have leftovers if it’s just you. The leftovers make great tacos if (taco seasoning is also like a dollar). Enjoy your revenge loaf
here’s a mashed potato recipe from my homophobic mother that i swore to never share that would pair perfectly!
(6 servings)
-2lbs red potatoes
-1 cup butter (2 sticks)
-1 cup cream cheese (1 pack)
-Chives (optional)
-Salt & Pepper to taste
1. drop those bad boys (potatoes) in a big ol pot. U don’t even have to chop them just wash them
2. boil til soft!
3. Drain
4. Mash (usually they’re small enough you can use a fork if u don’t have one of those squashers) until its a pretty chunky mix
5. add the other stuff. Keep mashing
I like my mashed potato consistancy more lumpy but its all up to you!! Peel the potatoes or keep them on, it literally makes the creamiest fluffiest mashed potatoes which she always served with the nastiest fuckin meatloaf

Have you ever noticed that the colors on tortoiseshells with lots of white are separated much more clearly than on tortoiseshells with little or no white?
The first cat has very small, intertwined black and red patches, while the second one has well defined, big patches. What could cause this phenomenon?
To answer this, first let’s talk about the melanocytes.
Melanocytes are the cells in the skin that produce pigments. As you can see on this illustration, one melanocyte affects the color of several skin cells.
In tortoiseshells, each cell has an X chromosome with the black and one with the red allele. Because of biological reasons i won’t get into, they all “turn off” one of their X chromosomes, choosing between them randomly. (This is called X-inactivation.) The melanocytes produce pigments according to their active X chromosome’s orange allele. The differently colored patches on the tortoiseshell pelt is the area a single melanocyte, or more precisely, its clones reach.
But why is it different based on the level of the white spotting?
During the development of the embryo, at a specific point the ws (white spotting) allele stops the creation of new melanocytes on the surface areas. This means if the embryo grows after this point, the melanocyte coverage breaks up and the uncovered, new body parts become white.
In colored cats, new melanocytes with their randomly inactivated X-chromosomes are created for much longer, so they’ll be present in much bigger numbers, therefore every cell will have much less space to further divide. This is why no-white or little white tortoiseshells have small patches.
If the melanocyte creation stops earlier, the single melanocytes have lots of space to divide, and they’ll form big clone colonies. You can see them on calicos: at a very early point of the cat’s life, every red and black patch was one single melanocyte.
I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence
Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.
Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.

For anyone who'd like to follow along, I'm gonna share how to get around those things with group policies bc they're more user friendly and descriptive than registry editor imo :3 I'll also show how to get around needing a Microsoft account to get setup.
"OOBE" stands for Out Of Box Experience which is what that setup workflow is. But it also happens to be a folder with a little program in it that'll let you skip connecting to the internet; this makes it so you don't have to sign up with a Microsoft account and can just use a normal local one instead. And it already comes preinstalled! Here's how you get to it:
Now when you're brought back to the setup workflow, the page where you connect to the internet will have a new button on it that lets you say you don't have internet. Clicking that and proceeding through the rest of the setup lets you get around the Microsoft account thing.
You don't have to know much about them, these are just a bunch of specific settings for what your computer can or can't do that lets you decide how it works in different ways.
I'm gonna show you how to turn off the recommendations and internet stuff basically. For now bring up search and type gpedit, pick this
It'll open up to Local Group Policy Editor and we can get started :3c
In the side menu, go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar. Click on Settings to sort them with all the "Turn off" ones bumped to the top.
Here's what you should set:
Back in the side menu, go down to Windows Components > Cloud Content
In the side menu, this one's back at the top under Computer Configuration. You're gonna want to go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search
In the side menu go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > News and interests.
When you don't use a Microsoft account they'll nudge you repeatedly to sign in so you can "get the most out of your experience" *gag*. The group policy for turning that off has a note that suggests it might not work with Windows 11 though (implicitly), so you can close the group policy editor window now and for this last one let's just open up the regular settings.
Go to System > Notifications > Additional settings, then uncheck all the boxes. And there ya go! (✿◠‿◠)ﾉ u are done.
Group policies are kind of a rabbit hole so while there is a lot more you could change or read into, for your own sanity's sake I would advise against it and say call it a day lol

As a bonus, run Chris Titus Tech's debloat tool on it.
It allows you to add tools, remove/disable shitty parts of windows, and easily change some settings. My default is running the preset for a desktop/laptop and applying security update settings, but there are so many options to customize. I used it on my personal laptop.
Just because one of your chicken eggs hatched a fire breathing dragon people think you’re evil. But you’re still just a regular farmer trying to make a living while dealing with an overprotective dragon, heroes that want to kill you and fanatics who want to worship you as the new Demon Lord.
The thing you need to know about all of this, the thing that got me into all this trouble in the first place, is that chickens will sit on anything when they get broody enough. Anything. Duck eggs, goose eggs, turkey eggs, lizard eggs, egg shaped rocks, anything. Chickens aren’t smart. If it looks vaguely like an egg, they’ll plant their feathery arses on it and wait.
I noticed that there was a bigger egg under one of the broody chickens, when I checked. Of course I noticed, it was twice the size of the others. But I have geese. I figured it was a goose egg she’d found and stolen. It was about the right size, and I didn’t take it out to check the colour because that particular chicken gets very protective of her eggs. I’ve already got a scar on one hand from trying to get eggs away from her. I didn’t want a matched set.
That was a decision I regretted the moment I went out to feed the chickens and found a little blue-and-silver dragonet’s head poking out from under a very confused-looking chicken. The poor thing kept shifting around and looking under herself in a bewildered way, like she didn’t know what to do next. This particular chicken is a good mother, and she’s raised clutches of ducks and geese without any trouble – she’s even resigned to some of her children swimming – but this was too much. She didn’t object when I carefully reached in and fished out the little dragon.
It was so tiny, then. It fitted in my hand, with its little head peeking out one side and its tail looping around my wrist. Cute, too, with its big eyes and little snout turned up towards me.
That was when I made my second mistake. I decided to feed it before releasing it. Dragons are innately wild creatures, everyone knows that. They can’t be tamed. People have tried. The eggs are abandoned as soon as they are laid, and the dragonets hatch able to hunt, so they don’t even bond with their mothers. So just feeding it a little shouldn’t have been a big deal. It should have gobbled the meat and fled as soon as I loosened my grip on it and it saw the open sky.
It didn’t. As soon as I’d fed it, it fluttered up to a sunny window ledge and went to sleep. I went about my work, figuring that it’d leave in its own time.
By noon, it was sitting on my boot, squeaking pathetically. I wondered if maybe it was confused by the farmyard – they usually hatch in mountains, if the stories are right – so I took it back to the farmhouse with me and fed it again when I ate, then took some time away from the fences I should have been mending to walk it up to the hills. I found it some nice rocks, with plenty of lizards and beetles and suitable prey for something that size. It pounced on a beetle almost as soon as I put it down, and when I left it was crunching happily.
I hadn’t walked a quarter of the way back before something hit the back of my boot. The little dragon was holding on with all four claws, and when I looked down it squeaked pathetically. If possible, its eyes got even rounder.
Listen, you don’t make it as a farmer if you just let orphaned baby animals die. We hand-raise calves and lambs and ponies, set chickens to sit on abandoned eggs, or put them under the kitchen stove or by a fireplace. You don’t make a success of farming if you don’t value every animal. A good shepherd will spend all night looking for one lost sheep. So despite what was said later, it wasn’t just sentiment that made me sigh and pick up the little thing and carry it back to the farm. I am a good farmer. I don’t let orphaned babies die just because they’re a little work.
I notice how many of the fanarts and fan designs I've seen of El-ahrairah take as a base the design from the movie, if not directly the same or have repeated elements such as the golden spirals around the body. And that's not a complaint, it just shows how peak that design is and I love those arts as much as anyone. But it's funny to me because I always imagined El-ahrairah looking like a very normal rabbit outside of a couple of details, in fact, due to a translation error in my language I always imagined him with black or very dark fur. And to this day I still like to see him that way because the dark fur would contract with the white tail and starlight ears giving them more prominence. (Damn I wish I could draw well enough to show how that design looks).
Something similar with Rabscuttle, I always saw him being smaller than El-ahrairah and looking rather more typical, with dark grey fur and also looking somewhat distressed. The few fanarts of him that I saw show him the same size (or bigger) and very similar to El-ahrairah.
And by the way, thanks Graphic Novel for depicting him more naturally, I don't feel alone xd.

so many people do not understand that 1) animals are not people, and 2) they aren't teaching their animals what they THINK they are teaching them.
dog group on the book of faces, someone is asking for advice on how to get their dog to come to them after the dog is done relieving itself outside. The dog doesn't like coming to them an they spend ten or twenty minutes or more catching the dog each time to bring it in. Which reminded me of one of many attempts to talk a person through trying to fix exactly this same behavior in *many* other dogs over the years...
Me: So, a quick question for you... does the dog not coming to you and you having to chase them down frustrate you?
Them: Of course!
Me: So what do you do when you finally either catch the dog or get them to come to you?
Them: I give the dog a correction!
Me: So. You get hands on your dog and then you immediately punish them for allowing you to get hands on them. And you wonder why your dog has developed the habit of not coming to you?
Them: No, that's not... I'm punishing them for not coming when I call!
Me: Which was.... fifteen minutes ago, or so, you said?
Them: Yes, when I first called them!
Me: Dogs brains literally cannot link an abstract thought like that. A thought and a consequence MUST happen within 2.4 seconds of one another, or the consequence becomes linked to the most recent behavior, thought, or activity. So, tell me... how is your dog supposed to understand that you punishing them is for the event fifteen minutes ago when you have made such a concerted, if unintentional, effort to teach them that them getting close enough for you to lay hands on them in the yard means an immediate punishment?
Them: But that's not what I *meant*!
Me: Doesn't matter what YOU meant... what THEY learned is that they come to you, and they get punished. Stop punishing your dog for the behavior that you want to see more of.
Stop anthropomorphizing your animals, folks. They don't think like us. Stop setting them - and yourself - up for failure.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Have a bunch of sketches of my dragon character Anicol, and one bonus Tolla. I'm still trying to get both of their designs down, and playing with the idea of making this setting's dragons feathered to avoid drawing patagial wings so much that I go nuts.
Aka things you could find elsewhere on the internet but here’s my own take. Note that while the running and back stitches are historically accurate, my felling stitch is not done how you would find it taught to a Victorian schoolgirl.
Holding the needle and fabric:
Modern sewing guides often overlook this because it’s sort of intuitive if you’ve been doing this since childhood. For beginners it might not be so obvious. I hold the needle between my thumb and index finger of my dominant hand. For running and backstitch I keep the worked (already sewn) fabric pinched between my index and middle fingers of my dominant hand, and the working (to be sewn) fabric pinched between my thumb and index or index and middle fingers of my non-dominant. I leave only about an inch gap between my hands. This keeps the fabric nice and taut while I work, and helps me keep an even stitch tension as well.
Running stitch:
This is the *most* basic stitch. You poke the needle down, you poke the needle up, you pull the needle through. It is a very efficient stitch because you can poke in and out multiple times and pull the thread through all at once, as I have in the above photos. This is the stitch you use for most hand-gathers and for some seams. For seams, use it where there won’t be any strain, like a vertical skirt seam.
Backstitch:
Insert needle, come up as if doing a single running stitch. Insert the needle back towards your dominant hand, and come up past the end of the current stitch. A continuous backstitch will insert the needle in the same hole as the end of the previous stitch. A spaced backstitch will take up more fabric coming up and leave a gap between the current and previous stitch when inserting. The specific size of the gap is dependent on your needs. I typically insert halfway. This is your workhorse stitch for seams that need to be strong.
Finishing stitches are usually for hems and seam allowances. These are also the stitches you might use to take up a skirt hem or shorten a sleeve. To start I usually anchor my thread by taking a tiny stitch through both the folded-up hem or seam allowance and the main fabric. Reinsert through the same spot and tighten. Depending on how slick your thread is, you may want to repeat this a couple times, shifting over a bit each time.
Felling (fold on the outside):
For felling where the fold is the only side that will be visible, take a long, slightly diagonal stitch across the back, barely catching the edge of the fold in the way up. Insert your needle next to the fold close to where you just came up and repeat. This is the fastest and easiest type of felling. This is also what I use for attaching lace.
Felling (fold on the inside):
When the fold will be on the inside and not visible, like a standard double-fold hem, you will want to take a tiny stitch across the “back”, either slightly diagonal or nearly vertical, catching the edge of the fold. You will end up with long stitches along the fold and tiny stitches on the other side. Note that the “back” in this case is actually the right side of the fabric.
Slip stitch:
This is for a finish that you want minimally visible on both sides. It is also the slowest finish. Insert your needle into the fold and exit the edge of the fold, catching a tiny bit of the outer fabric. Pull through. Insert your needle in the same spot or close to the same spot you exited the fold. Repeat. It’s called a slipstitch because you have to slip the needle inside the fold. You will have tiny stitches visible on both sides, which will be basically invisible if you match your thread to your fabric.
Stem stitch:
This is basically the inverse of a backstitch. Like, in the most literal sense. It is worked toward the dominant hand, though you still insert the needle away from the dominant hand. You start by coming up from the wrong (back/under) side of the fabric then inserting the needle towards the dominant hand, about two backstitch lengths away from your start. Then you come up at the halfway point between where you started and where you just inserted the needle. Pull through. Insert the needle one back stitch length away from the end of the previous stitch, and come up in the same or close to the same spot as the end of the previous stitch. Pull through, repeat. This is my usual embroidery stitch for outlining.
(Reverse) Chain stitch:
I almost never use a regular chain stitch because it’s annoying and fiddly as hell. A reverse chain stitch is structurally identical but it worked completely differently. To start, make a single running stitch and come up one stitch-length away. Then slide your needle under the previous stitch and insert the needle into the same hole as the current stitch. Come up one stitch-length away. Continue sliding the needle under the previous stitch. I work it towards the body or away from my dominant hand, but I find working towards the body makes it easier to slide the needle under. It also does not matter from which direction you go under the previous stitch as long as it’s the same for every stitch in each continuous section. Make sure to catch both “legs” of each loop. I sometimes use this for decorative topstitching. It is very inefficient both in terms of time and thread, but it looks really nice when you get it right.
Those are all the basic stitches I use for my hand-sewing!
