Miranda’s the best mom in the show for several factors.

-Taught her toddler daughter to sew. Patience of a saint!

-Raised a three year old Sofia by herself for FIVE years before marrying Roland.

-Loves her biological and step children unconditionally.

-Can call people out for their shit. Looking at you Carol of the Arrow.

-Set a tree on fire in blazing batmitten and didn’t blink an eye.

-Still does things for herself despite having servants to help her.

-A cool mom in general.

Fic Prompt: On Father's Day, Cedric finds the wishing well. Not knowing much about the well, he wishes for Sofia's biological dad to return, and marks the spot where he found the well with a metal rod. Sofia's dad does return from the grave with no obvious catch. He comes back as a living person, not an undead zombie. However, soon Queen Miranda starts showing strange symptoms of drowning, and appears to have caught a strange illness. Sofia's dad thinks his return from the grave is causing Miranda's to die, so he tries to undo the wish because he knows Sofia is closer to Miranda than she is to him. But the iron rod attracts lightning, which destroys the well before he could undo the wish. So Miranda dies.

I’ll have to think about this one.

I just read the fic you recommended - it was great, so thank you.

Unfortunately, the serious tone went awry because the Brit in me couldn’t stop laughing at how they wrote Cedric’s voice it was fantastic-

Avatar

I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Trust me as an American used to British accents, I had to bite my lip to not laugh at the serious situation when reading Cedric’s dialogue.

How did Sofia just barely manage to pass her classes and graduate while going on missions? If the fairies had any common sense, they would’ve put her in summer school or held her back a year.

THATS WHAT IM SAYING? also, im not sure if this was ever mentioned in the show bc if it was i cant remember, when did they have royal prep? it seemed like once a month tbh like did they have it every weekday or once every week or a couple days a week or what??

I imagine it’s like how a regular elementary school is run but since it’s a show for preschoolers, we only see one day out of five days.

its because we rarely see sofia mention royal prep when its not an episode about royal prep, like do you just forget you attend school???

Especially when she’s a protector. Like girl if my parents knew I put something else outside my education at her age, they’d kill me.

EXACTLY, also not to mention I FEEL LIKE HER PARENTS NEVER KNEW ABOUT HER WHEREABOUTS, girl was CONSTANTLY on adventures like if they did know, HOW DID THEY LET HER GO?? I feel like she was put into life threatening situations almost everyday.

Amber covered for her for MONTHS and I honestly don’t blame her for being fucking pissed the day of their graduation because Sofia had to leave yet again!

So how could the three fairies raise Aurora for sixteen years without getting her killed or injured yet have an enchanted swing that almost could have the new princess crack open her skull had she landed wrong?

Among other things.

Also, you know what? They are the worst teachers in the show. You could argue that Wormwood was quite a terrible teacher when he was trying to help Clover be a good helper - but at least Wormwood tried to teach Clover!!

The fairies. Don't. Try. How has anyone ever graduated Royal Prep? James clearly doesn't get what's going on in class, and do they help him???? No!!!!!

I'm not even going to get into the 'engraving your next school choice in a bloody stone tablet' stuff here. Bcs you know. It goes without saying.

To be honest, the show feels like Craig or another writer had a vendetta against modern School systems, and added elements like this for the benefit of any teachers/ high ups in education who happened to see the show

YOU GET IT!!!

I made a similar post about how much the fairies suck.

I'm going to see for myself if this is true, but aren't the fairies supposed to be the Headmasters of Royal Prep, not teachers?

They're both.

If they’re headmistresses, wouldn’t the children’s safety come first? If the bubble prank had been successful, their student’s could’ve suffocated or drowned.

Furthermore, they just seem like unpleasant people overall. I know full well there aren't any dangerous spells in their book - and yet they basically drove Miss Nettle to insanity by denying her access and making her feel worthless??!!! Bullying!!!

I’m surprised they allowed in a so called talented musician without realizing he wanted Vivian to himself. That’s beyond horrifying.

Royal Prep really needs to run a DBS check

And like... have the fairies never done anything about Hexley Hall's Prank Day before?? The Hexley Hall students got away with it every year, how??? Amber even said in 'Substitute Cedric' that once they turned the school upside down and it took them forever to get it back to normal (how is that possible when the fairies are magic?). But a bunch of kids, who aren't even sorcerers or innately magic or experienced in magic, manage to both stop their prank and once-and-for-all teach them a lesson about ever messing with Royal Prep again?

And the fairies swore to tell the headmaster of Hexley Hall about the bubble prank... yeah, and that would work because? I mean, I'm pretty sure every headmaster has always known about Prank Day if it's such a time-honored tradition, and their students have been getting away with it for years.

Also - the sexism??? Like, no girls have ever thought to try out for the derby team, AND THEY NEVER THOUGHT TO ADRESS THIS???

And the bullying. Everyone laughed at Hildegard when she fell, and because the fairies do not know how to enforce consequences, the only way she could protect herself was to become another bully.

Ya'll just keep uncovering more layers, and I am here for it!! So many great points.

Damn straight.

Let’s not forget the scrambled pets episode where SOFIA was punished for something she was pressured into doing! What the hell?!

im guessing they simply are not the most qualified people to teach the literal future rulers of entire countries!!! but since they're literally on the school's crest, they are likely the founders of it, and never questioned them

might i add, in the episode where the students from royal prep and dunwiddie exchanged schools for a day, fucking amber was surprised at taking science classes?????? they don't study SCIENCE in royal prep???

Then how would the enchanted science fair exist? God this show.

I mean, it seems like the enchanted science fair was more enchanted than science. Like the solar system? You made balls float. Well done!

Also, the princess test is just - wow. Trick question at it's finest. Pressure tones of 8 year olds into feeling like their life depends on a test, and then punish them for wanting to attend said test???

It's effed up.

RIGHT, THAT PRINCESS TEST. UGH

ALSO THE WAY PRISMA JUST WALTZED IN ROYAL PREP AND INTO THE FAIRIES ROOM TO STEAL ONE OF THE WICKED NINE AND NO PROFESSORS OR ANY OF THE FAIRIES BATTED AN EYE? 😭 like no one noticed she was here??

They’re lucky this wasn’t the Prisma who attempted to kill Sofia in In Cedric We Trust.

Do the princes get a test of their own or is it once against sexist bullshit? A tomboy would be in hell.

I never thought of that. Why not a prince test?

Why not a prince test?

Because the school’s old fashioned co ed. If Sofia hadn’t been a student, there’d STILL be sexist in terms of sports. She seems more comfortable in pants. Let the girl wear pants!

Just. It's no wonder Tilly didn't want to be queen after going through all that

THIS!

If it’s supposed to be an elementary school then where’s the younger students? The halls aren’t even described by grade. Furthermore, how the hell wasn’t Sofia in the novice hall for a year since she was new to the school?

"I'm not ready to be a princess" WELL OF COURSE YOU'RE NOT YOU JUST GOT HERE. They treat her like she should pick things up instantly

“I’m afraid it’ll take more than a few days to learn how to be a princess.”

Fuck you Flora!

"You treated me like your own chattel"

You know what Miss Nettle? I believe you

Don’t we all.

Again. How did that enchanted swing not kill Sofia on her first day? She landed face first into the fountain water!

Enchanted cushioning water...?

Seems like something they would do, you know, opposed to getting rid of the swing

The fic Smoke Filled the Air actually explored this. Except Sofia died graphically and it’s implied the school will be sued because of it.

I'll have to check it out!

It’s on archieve of our own!

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather better be grateful no child has died in their hands yet.

It's effed up.
