This Blog/These Books

This is a blog for the series Stories From The Michigan Fleet, a very queer series by three very queer authors, set in an imagined future after the fall of America, centered on a civilization living entirely on boats spread across the surface of Lake Michigan and a very big and sad and shy bi cinnamon roll recovering from trauma there. It's got the drama, it's got the hurt/comfort, it's got a giant anxious boy learning that sex can be nice and having emotions about people being kind to him. It's also got kittens in it. Click here for a further summary and links to read the first novel free and illustrated, or to purchase it and support the authors. Click here for a list of some of the types of GMO'd humans wandering around.

This blog primarily exists as a place to compile art and reference made by the authors, or occasionally to answer questions by readers. It's moderated/run by splickedylit. It features

  1. sketches posted with 0 explanation
  2. characters that haven't been introduced yet
  3. sometimes, art that is spicy

Thank you for reading/watching, we hope you enjoy!

Do you accept fanart of your series and if so is there a preferred tagging system for it? Like if you don't want fanart to show up in the Solace King tag on tumblr should it be Solace King Fanart? Thank you

That would be lovely, if the spirit so moves you! :D The quorum of the authors' group chat is that it's fine to just tag with character names, no "fanart" addition necessary--although if you'd like us to see it it would not be a bad idea to also @ this blog, since I at least don't follow the tags of my own characters on here!

TIL that "sympatico" (via the thing where tumblr shoves random posts onto your dash) is apparently a thing in transformers nsfw fandom, I think its a ship name? but regardless its porn written with mechanical language for everything and that was just plausible enough that I thought it was rich/ship AI porn for a minute, a possibility that I had never considered before today, so I am passing on this cursed concept for others to enjoy

1/2 I've really fallen in love with the Michigan Fleet in the last few months, thank you so much! Of course, I'm hooked by the hurt-comfort and characters and relationships, but I was also charmed by the worldbuilding and work details. I work in large-scale corporate indoor plant care, and the public plants with their little immediate-need holo-screens was a really fun idea for me.

Aw, hooray! We're so glad you're enjoying yourself. It's a delight, as an author, when people can imagine how their own specialties and interests could fit and flourish in the framework of a world you've set up. :D

Boat Boys Book 6 is out!

Solace King is proud to be living the New York dream of the self-made millionaire; he’s used to the fast-paced world of high finance and the cutthroat status games of the city’s elite patrician class. He knows better than most that nothing comes for free, and when he sees something he wants, he has to be willing to fight for it.

A random tourist might seem like the last person who could ever catch him off guard, until Sol’s daily grind crashes unexpectedly into a coffee shop meetcute with Rich Merrill, a gigantic supersoldier gene-mod from a remote nautical cooperative out on Lake Michigan.

In town to give a presentation at a high-tech convention, Rich proves to be unexpectedly smart, funny, and very friendly. When they hit it off, Sol finds himself offering to be the soldier mod’s native guide. As they navigate two very different sets of social norms, culinary practices, and sartorial standards, Sol finds himself falling for a guy unlike anyone he’s ever met.

Sparks fly, cultures clash, and the heat is on. Now all Sol needs to do is keep up with that supersoldier stamina and hold on tight to pride, his dignity, and his heart.

Pick up The Taste of New York on Smashwords or at your preferred ebook retailer, or read the first chunk for free here!

Our first Michigan Fleet book set outside the Fleet! We travel to the great old city of New York and I even put together a map of Manhattan so you can follow along. We had a lot of fun with a change of location and perspective, and we're sure readers are gonna love it too!

CHRONIC PAIN ANON HERE. MY ROACH BLOG CHECKING FINALLY PAID OFF. Novella, not novel, but it's about the exact things I was hoping for. Go get it, Mitch. You don't have to be anyone's jester anymore.

It was nice to dig into Mitch a little deeper, and we're so pleased our readers have been so sweet about him. :D A good boy who deserves to sometimes be taken seriously! And...who is deeply allergic to the concept of the emotional openness required to facilitate that, haha. Thank you so much for your readership, and for your very sweet messages. We're glad we can brighten your day!
