You lay sleepily in the confines of your bed, your eyes closing defeatedly as you pulled the duvet closer to your chest. Everything was peaceful and quiet, the moon light from outside brushing lightly against the skin of your bare arm as you turned, attempting to get comfortable. It felt as though you were seconds away from drifting into a much needed slumber when your phone suddenly buzzed loudly, startling you.

“Why.…” you whined irritably, brushing the hair out of yours eyes as you squinted to read whatever message had just been received despite the need to lie your head back down on the pillow. After a moment or two your eyes focused on the screen, instantly recognising the contact name. It was your girlfriend, the single love heart emoticon accompanying her name cutely.

12:04am: are you awake?

12:05am: x

A small smile graced your lips at the second text, remembering a conversation you had had with the girl only a few days previous.

“I still love you I just you know,” Malia shrugged a little offhandedly, her hand tightly grasping yours, “I’m not the best with the whole texting thing,”. You nodded, glancing across the table to your friends, who seemed to be deep in conversation before replying. “I know that, I don’t mind,”. Malia looked at you for a moment, her bright eyes searching your expression before she leaned forward and kissed you softly, her free hand reaching up to cup your cheek. Naturally your cheeks blushed a sweet shade of pink as you giggled shyly.

Sitting up a little straighter, you unlocked your phone and began to type a reply, biting your lip slightly as you did so.
