I haven’t been back here for over a year - I quit active kpop fandom years ago because I found there was a divergence of principles between me and Bigbang, and this old blog was a part of that.
But in light of recent news I’ve logged in to this account to say one thing.
The only word to describe what I’ve been feeling after hearing the news about Seungri and JJY is disgusted. Specifically, in my case - having unknowingly been a fan a man who hid behind his smiling face participation in the sexual victimisation of women. While we don’t know at this point of the police investigation whether Seungri actively participated in the sexual assaults or actively shared in the non-consensual videos in JJY’s chat group, we don’t know. But the fact remains that he KNEW this was happening, organised the sexual exploitation of women, pimped, bribed the police, or at the very least (which is no less worse) stood by and allowed the continuous sexual assault of many women to happen.
It is disgusting. Vile. The most horrifying abuse of power.
I’m not going to say what should be done to Seungri for these crimes. That’s the job of the police and the courts. But may justice be served, and may all the women made victims by these monsters who call themselves men find solace and closure.
