❝chapter sixteen: first calls❞
After you’d hit send on your message notifying Ushijima you finished eating, his icon immediately popped up with the green accept button and red decline button. You tapped the green button, bringing the phone to your ear.
“Hey.” You said, throwing away the rest of your trash. You could hear rustling on the other side and a disappointed grunt before Ushijima spoke up, tone completely different.
“Hey.” He sounded cheerful. “Will you be going to sleep soon also?”
“Nah. I have to choose which pictures look best and then I need to work on some homework.” You stalked to your room, fingers holding the phone while you searched for your laptop.
“Don’t go to sleep too late, okay?”
“I won’t. It’ll be really quick.” You said, a yawn being the response from him.
“Five matches. I bet you’re exhausted.” You tapped the speaker button, opening your laptop and typing in your password.
“I am. But I am used to it. Did you have fun?”
“Yeah. It was great seeing you play and getting time with you afterwards.” You furrowed your eyebrows, checking the pictures that were emailed to you carefully. “What about you?”
“I did too, even if it was last minute. I’d like to plan something like that more carefully between us. Is there anything in particular you would like to do?”
“Hm. I don’t mind much. If you have a free day and just want to rest, that’s good for me. At least I’m spending time with you.” You downloaded a picture of Kyoutani getting ready to spike a ball Oikawa had set to him. “And whatever you feel most comfortable with, we can do that too.”
“This is new to me. That’s why I’m asking.”
“New? Wait, have you never had a girlfriend or been on dates before?” You stopped your work, smiling at the phone as if Ushijima was actually here.
“Not a girlfriend. I’ve had some girls confess that they liked me. I’ve been on dates. Things never worked out because I put all my attention on volleyball.”
“Oh, I get it. Honestly, in my opinion, they must have not been ready either.” You went back your work. “That’s the things you have to do in a relationship. You always support your significant other in what they want to do.” There was a quick silence.
“Thank you. You seem to understand how I feel.”
“That’s how it works. Are you going to sleep now?”
“I think I am. Good night, sleep well. I’ll text you when I wake up.”
“Good night, you sleep well too.” After you finished speaking, he said a quick thank you again and hung up. You laid back, staring at the bright computer screen and hearing your phone go off.
❝You send 17 asterisks to your friends about the guy you’d date before Kuroo Tetsurou. They try and figure out who it is and once they do, all hell breaks loose.❞
Hi hi I’m back with this story :)))
