—————————————————————————               { PHYSICAL FEATURES } APPEARANCE: Willow is average in height and weight she wears a lot of clothing that are sage green. Her eyes look like a stormy grey color that has a slight hint of blue in them.  She often wears a simple silver chain around her neck with a small silver anchor attached to it.  All of her clothing seems to be well fitted to fit her frame and they all have small little symbols relating to the sea embroidered into her garments.

HAIR: Blonde EYES: Blue-Grey SKIN: Fair complexion caucasian  HEIGHT: 5′4″ WEIGHT: 114 lbs

Arrival to the Shadowlands

Daily Writing Challenge Day 31  Words: Arrival/Shadowlands

The girl was standing there just staring at the memorial plots they had set up for their parents.  It was that time of year that she really couldn’t help but just stare at them for hours and no matter how much time had passed, her mind continued to ask the same questions every single year.  

After what seemed like hours, the older of the two siblings had walked up to her and frowned.  “You really should stop staring at them, sis.  They have been gone for years, you know they have arrived and living peacefully in the Shadowlands.” Turning her head and glaring at her brother, Willow growled out with obvious pain in her voice,  “You don’t know that, Jeremy.  I know you’ve heard the whispers.  Plus some of the things they’re saying make sense.”  Doing everything he could, he reached over to wrap his arms around his little sister as she starts to cry,  “There’s really no sense to those doomsayers.  Plus, whatever is going on, we will help each other get through it.  Okay?  Deal?”  

Noticing that he didn’t say ‘if anything is happening’ but deciding to not comment on it, she just nods and cries into his shoulder, just hoping that he was right and she was working herself up over nothing.

No pain no gain

Daily Writing Challenge Day 16 Words: Coy/Pain  

Willow sat there, the lute in her hands as she tried the same set of notes one time after another.  Her mother sitting across from her and shaking her head as she gets it wrong yet again.  She had felt like no matter how much she tried, she would never get the chord progression right.

Wincing in pain as she put the instrument down, she could even see the callouses on her fingers,  “Mom, they hurt a lot”  The young girl pouted at her mother. “This honestly is pointless.  I’m never going to get it, and the only thing I’m accomplishing is making sure I’m not able to move my hands ever again.”  The woman peered at her, rolling her eyes and moving off behind  her, pulling the instrument back up.  “You know I don’t believe you for a second.  Come on, let’s try again.  I will help you the first time and then the rest is up to you.”

Groaning loudly and rolling her eyes like a normal teenager she continued to play on, letting her mother guide her fingers on the strings then after playing a couple of times the same progression, she was finally able to do so.  Thinking to herself that perhaps there is something behind the phrase, ‘No pain, no gain.’ she wasn’t about to let her mom know that and just rolled her eyes once more at the older woman.

Daily Writing Challenge Day 8 Words: Companion/Bitter

The young woman kept on getting tossed around the ship, trying to get her bearings in the storm that they were going through.  It was one of the first times she had back out to sea since her parents had been lost at it so she kept on trying to make sure that she was able to handle herself.  But, all this was probing to do was to toss her across the deck like a rag doll.  

Finally after slamming into one of the riggings, she had felt strong hands on her shoulder.  A gentle smile gracing the rather large man’s lips before he pulled her to her feet.  Her companion finally spoke as he had led her to a doorway,  “It might be best if you stick right here, just so that you don’t break an arm or something, sis.  We will get you acclimated to this eventually, I just don’t want you to be completely battered before that time.”  Then standing next to her, Willow’s brother just  found himself grabbing her arm and time the boat was tossed around in the storm.

Willow’s brows raise and she tilts her head to the side,  “Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.  It’s been a hot minute since I had been back to his bar, and to be honest, he does make a mean drink, and rather easy on the eyes, but outside of that, it’s been a really long time, and we don’t know each other all that well. I also thought he was dating someone, too.”
