On this year women's day, all we could think about are Palestinian women in Gaza.

Nearly 9,000 women have been killed in Israeli attacks in five months. Another 2,100 are missing and presumed dead, while 23,000 have been wounded and over half a million are displaced.

“Palestinian women, especially in the Gaza Strip, are exposed to the worst humanitarian catastrophe,” Ashraf al-Qudra, the health ministry’s spokesperson, said on Thursday.

Dozens of women and girls have also been detained and face harsh conditions in Israeli custody, including sexual abuse.

Women in Gaza also struggle to find menstruation products and access the necessary pregnancy and post-natal care. The consequences on reproductive health, including a rise in stress-induced miscarriages, stillbirths and premature births, have increased significantly.

Women in labour are undergoing caesarean procedures without anaesthetics, and a shortage of post-operative care such as medication, antibiotics and pain relief further exacerbates the situation.

According to the health ministry, 5,000 women give birth monthly in Gaza under “harsh, unsafe and unhealthy” conditions caused by Israeli bombing and displacement.

There are 60,000 pregnant women in Gaza suffering from “malnutrition, dehydration and lack of medical care.

There have also been repeated cases of Israeli soldiers mocking Palestinian women by posting videos and pictures of themselves rummaging through personal belongings in Gaza homes, making derogatory comments and posing with women’s underwear.

Go back to where you came from, colonizer

If this is in reference to what I have been saying about the Israel situation, then you calling me a colonizer is really hilarious.

People were Antisemitic before Israel existed and a neonazi tried to kill me in college in 2020 when most people (and TBH probably your ignorant ass) did not give a shit about Palestinians and couldn't even point to Israel on a map (which most of y'all still can't do lmfao). You're the one saying all Jews are responsible for Israel by saying Israel created Antisemitism. You're an Antisemite.

Of course antisemitism has always existed, I never implied otherwise. All Jews are not responsible for Israel, but that specific post was talking about Israel. They literally said "It's so strange being a student at a leftist college right now." Why specifically a leftist college? Why right now? The only events that have happened recently that would make sense is the continued oppression of the Palestinians by the Israeli government. And it's "strange" because leftists typically try to be allies to the Jewish community but many of them are starting to act as bad as those on the far right. These events and situations don't exist in a vacuum.

And I want to end this response by saying you are absolutely right. That there was a time in my life when I didn't care about the oppression of the Palestinians, when I supported Israel and their cause because I believed that the land was rightfully theirs. But that isn't the true reality of the situation. After actually learning about the entire history of that area, I now realize that the Israeli government really has no right to do what they are doing. I don't support anyone's life being upended or destroyed, especially because a 2000 year old book that is mostly based on fiction.

It’s so strange being a student at a really leftist college right now. I briefly mention being Jewish in a classroom in which we’re specifically talking about marginalized identities and I can literally see people around me, my colleagues and “friends”, wrinkle their noses in disgust. I’ve stopped wearing my Magen David because I’m afraid of what people would think and I feel disgusted with myself for being weak but the last time I wore it someone spit on me. Everyone at my school proudly wears their “punch nazis” patches as they tell me that I’m supporting genocide by saying Baruch HaShem when the corner store has my favorite breakfast.

People really need to distinguish between the government of Israel and its supporters and just random Jewish people. Israel really tries to paint itself as the representative of all Jewish people, but—for all that they cry antisemitism at the slightest criticism—they’re pushing an antisemitic trope by doing so. Don’t buy into the Israeli propaganda by attacking Jewish people for Israel’s genocidal policies.

It takes a special kind of asshole to come onto a Jewish person’s post talking about the antisemitism they’re facing from the people in their personal life and make it about a country thousands of miles away.

Israel isn’t to blame for diaspora antisemitism. People like you are. If you can’t even support Jews when we’re facing individual antisemitism from our peers without making sure everyone knows the antisemitism was totally only because Israel is the Most Evilest Country Ever (it wasn’t), then you are the one conflating Israel with Jewishness. You are the one casting suspicion on Jews for talking about antisemitism. You are the one who would rather victim-blame and gaslight us so that our abusers don’t have to take responsibility for their hatred and cruelty.

So either shut the fuck up about Jews or just admit that you side with the antisemites. Trust me, we prefer the honesty.

Ok but OPs post was literally about the Israel conflict. The reason why they are facing these issues with their peers IS because of that conflict. The other person was simply pointing out that if people didn't conflate Israel with all Jews then the OP would not be experiencing as much antisemitism.

Just shut the fuck up, okay?

Guys, can you please stop killing us? We have as much of a right to live as you do.

some real chutzpah happening here, but let it be made clear: the reason Jewish people around the world are experiencing this is not because of the conflict. it's because the people PERPETRATING THESE ACTS OF PREJUDICE ARE ANTISEMITIC. if you are using the conflict as an excuse or justification to be hateful, cruel, and violent in any way towards Jewish people and Jewish establishments in the diaspora, you are not doing advocacy for anyone, you are a Jew hater. period.

In simple words - what was the problem with your reaction?

(I believe in education. As sisyfic as it feels sometimes.)

First of all "OP's post was about the conflict" -

No. OP's post was about being harassed bc of their identity and something they can't and don't want to change about themselves and usually actually feel pretty great about it.

Is it ok to go and harass russian people bc of the war in Ukraine? Or Ukrainian people? Obviously, not.
Then why is it ok to harass jews, or make it unsafe for people to be visibly Jewish?
(And that's BEFORE you even consider that you assume all jews are Israelis, which isn't true.)

Basically, your comment use many antisemic tropes. I'm not saying that you have bad intentions, but it IS important to consider it. Because it's part of the way we grew up, the way tropes works - and sometimes it can be distractive (think about tropes like "black violet man", "smart asian", "terrorist arabs", "greedy jew", etc.)

some examples in your comment are:

"OPs post was about the conflict" <- turning someone's harassment into part of global thing, and therefore ereasing their own pain.

"They face issues with their peers bc of the conflict" <- all Jews are responsible for everything other Jews does (the "loyalty" trope - jews are only loyal to other jews, all jews are part of organisation)

<- Therefore it's ok to hold a random Jew accountable for things that happened in a different place, that they didn't do, and had no influence on.

+Bonus: good old victim blaming "they deserve it bc..."

"It's bc Israel... if no conflict, no harassment" - victim blaming, again. Also very inaccurate. There was antisemism through all history. The modern version of Zionism was established after the Dreyfus trial (and the modern state of Israel happened after the Holocaust, Fraud, and multiple massacres.)

But you are right about it being antisemic:

<- The "Dual loyalty" trope - "All Jews are loyal to Israel"

"for all they cry antisemism" -

Well.

If a Jew tells you you're being antisemic, maybe- just maybe- you, as a non jew, should listen??

That's right. Not every criticism of Israel is antisemic. But many things are.

Like:

"they're pushing antisemic..." and everything you don't like is "Israeli Propaganda" <- aka "the jews have too much power/control the world/media/trying to"

Please go educate yourself

Nowhere did anyone say that what the OP was going through was ok. Just simply explaining why it is happening. Read between the lines. What is currently happening is basically a repeat of what happened after 9/11. Innocent Jews are being attacked because peoples fears are getting the best of them and preventing them from seeing the bigger picture. Because of the actions of the Israeli gov, innocent Jews are suffering. Of course, there's many other factors at play like blatant hatred and racism, but whether OP realizes it or not, the actions of their peers are partly a result from current events. And @bicokun's response was absolutely valid. Perhaps the language may have seemed generalizing, but I'm pretty sure their statement was directed at the government of Israel, not the everyday people. And no, I'm not going to listen to anything the Israeli gov. tells me because they're just a bunch of UN backed terrorists. Just like America :)

the glorification of your 20s and fear of anything else has got to stop. mainly bc your 20s is quite literally the worst decade of your life the idea that ppl think you peak at 25 has me so sad for them

also when ppl act like 20s is peak sexiness. im 26 so if you presented a 22 year old as the pinnacle of desirability i would morph into a chimpanzee and rip you limb from limb. WHAT am i supposed to do with someone who hasn't even gone thru the age 23 ego death

25 was quite literally the best year of my life. And while I agree that it is only the best so far, I can't agree that my 20s is the worst decade. That title goes to my teens.

About Loser, Baby

When I first heard this song, I didn't like it very much, and I still kind of don't. I think it is great musically, but I don't really like the lyrics and can't really resonate with it. I really struggled with understanding the side of people who enjoy the song and say that it makes them feel better about their situation. But after reading different posts and remembering some important info, I think I finally understand. And it just comes down to different traumas and how individual people react differently to them. The song works for Angel and a lot of others who perceive their trauma in a similar way to him. But for me, the lyrics of the song conflict directly with my perceptions of my trauma, and end up making me feel worse about the situation I went through. At the end of the day, I still don't like it and I probably never will, but it's a good song and the lyrics can be helpful to a lot of people.

I am genuinely so tired of people trying to make "Loser, Baby" out to be some sort of victim-blaming song??

It's not "well this is your own fault", it's "yeah you're in a fucked up situation and you're not dealing with it very healthily but hey I'm in the same boat, at least we got each other"

Like. "But letting walls down it can sometimes set you straight" "If we eat shit together things will end up differently" "It's time to lose your self-loathing, excuse yourself, let hope in, baby play your card, be who you are" Did we listen to the same song.

[HUSK] "Haha! And you think that makes you unique? Get outta here, man!"

Yes, we did listen to the same song. Not all of the lyrics were great.

Please explain to me how either of the lyrics you pulled are victim-blaming because that was the point this post was trying to make.

You don’t have to think Husk was super duper nice (I mean he wasn’t, he doesn’t really seem like the type to sugar-coat anything anyway) but that doesn’t mean he was blaming Angel either.

Maybe its not victim blaming, but it is not compassionate. Angel is not a "whiney bitch" for being in a bad situation. And implying that he's in that situation and acting the way he is for clout is very problematic imo. People believe they are alone in their suffering because society makes them believe that they are alone, not because they think theyre better than everyone else.

OMG!! I just realized that the Kallura Your Name AU could work in the canonverse!! Imagine Allura and Keith switching bodies and their timeline is out of sync, but instead of being three years out of sync like Mitsuha and Taki, Keith and Allura are 10,000 years out of sync. Not to mention they’re millions of light years away from each other. Keith is 15 at the time it happens and they switch places a few times a week for about a month, until one day it suddenly stops (because Allura was put to sleep) In this AU, Keith can’t do anything to stop the Galra from destroying Altea like Taki could stop the comet, and Keith eventually forgets the experience. That is until a few years later he gets sent into space by a magic lion with the others and they stumble upon an alien princess…

More headcanons because I honestly love this AU so much!!

  • The power to switch places with someone in your dreams is one that only Altean royalty possess, and is passed down from mother to daughter.
  • The first time Keith wakes up in Alluras body he fREAKS OUT of course cuz omfg he’s an alien but once he gets past the shock his nerdy conspiracy theorist ass is like OMFG IM AN ALIEN. ALIENS ARE REAL
  • Allura also freaks out when she first wakes up as Keith. The first thing she complains about is how hideous his ears are.
  • Keith is usually quiet and keeps to himself but when Allura is in Keiths body she acts more sociable and open, and the other students at Keith’s school are shocked by the change in demeanor.
  • Likewise, everyone in the castle is shocked by Allura’s change in behavior. Since Allura is a princess, I’m sure there were a lot of rules about manners and such involved in her life, which Keith knows nothing about. He knows basic manners of course, but all of the rules about table manners are lost on him, not to mention he doesn’t even know what he’s eating.
  • Pizza is the greatest thing Allura has ever tasted in her life she cried when she ate it.
  • KEITH GETS TO SEE VOLTRON AND HE GETS TO MEET ALL THE OLD PALADINS. HE’S IMMEDIATELY DRAWN TO THE RED LION AND HE GETS THE FEELING LIKE IT’S TRYING TO TALK TO HIM, LIKE IT KNOWS HE’S THERE
  • The old Red Paladin lets Keith see the inside of the lion (You’ve seen it like a million times, Allura, but alright) and Keith feels like he belongs there
  • And now for some angst~
  • Every time Keith wakes up as Allura, he hears more and more about the Galra and the war and all the terror they’re causing but he doesn’t know how to help
  • At the time this weird phenomena starts, Keith is living in an abusive household. The father takes all of his anger out on Keith and the mother is emotionally abusive. They only adopted Keith for the welfare checks. It hurts Allura that Keith has to go through this on a daily basis and she wishes she could do something to help.
  • One time she tries to stand up to the dad, because Keith won’t, and she gets Keith a black eye for it
  • Keith is angry at her for it at first, but later realizes that she only did it because she cared.
  • Throughout the time they switch, They support each other in what ever way they can, even if it’s just leaving an encouraging message in each others phones (or whatever Alteans use for communicaton)
  • Both of them don’t consider the possibility that they’re in two different timelines, and when the switching stops, Keith is afraid that Allura was hurt by the Galra. He doesn’t know that Altea was destroyed 10,000 years ago.
  • Keith tries everything to switch with Allura again, but nothing he tries works and he doesn’t know what else to do. After awhile, he doesn’t even remember what he was trying to do. Was he trying to find someone? Who was he trying to find? He gets upset when he can’t remember
  • The memories fade as time passes, and eventually Keith is left with nothing more than a feeling that he’s missing something.
  • When they finally meet each other three years (In Keiths time) later, they feel drawn to each other but can’t explain why.

That’s all I have for now! Feel free to add more!
