<-🎧-> “Hmmm …”
The moment the reply was sent, Futaba was on it, unable to keep her curiousity at bay any longer. She read through the details, then pulled up a map of the tv station.
“Oh … Akasaka Mitsuke? That’s far …” She murmured to herself, biting her lip. Somebody had to get on a train, right now, and start heading in that direction while the others entered Mementos. And the best person suited for that was …
She took a deep breath, then grabbed a photo of herself as well as a basic information folder she kept just in case, attaching them both to the email, along with a message letting Janna know somebody would be taking the subway down the line and be there within the hour. She quickly shrugged her coat on, grabbing an umbrella. After all, the weather woman had forecast rain later in the day after the sun had set.
She texted the team as well as her stepdad, letting him know that she was going out and wouldn’t be back until after he closed up the coffee shop. A moment’s hesitation longer, then she stepped out the door, locking it behind and beginning the nerve-racking walk to the station.
“Please don’t let it be crowded …”

—≪💌≫ “ Alright. Let’s do this. “

As soon as the information was sent, Janna set to working on getting an ID made

for her. She looked nice -- A bit young. Then again, Janna herself looked incredibly

   young despite her age.

Despite the fact she knew that the other would be helping her soon, she felt as

though the target on her back had somehow been painted even larger. She could

feel her very soul being tugged upon. She wanted out of this hellish nightmare.

She was waiting for the young woman when she showed up at the studio.

“ Hello there! I see my new cloud has shown up for training. Come inside

before you get a chill from that rain. “

Good, good, no one seemed none the wiser. It was a good thing Janna was so

friendly to guests all the time.

Soraka shifted nervously, wondering when her blind date would arrive. Ezreal had told her not to worry mostly, also including the fact that they were a good friend of his as well. But she was nervous all the same since she had been waiting at the Make-A-Burger for at least twenty minutes, her finger poking at the warming veggie burger as she sighed to herself.

Now she was having the doubts of what if she wasn’t good enough for them or maybe they hadn’t bothered to show up at all. Most of the texts sent to Ezreal weren’t being responded to either, causing her to slightly panic. She looked around at the people having fun or the couples on dates, causing her to feel a slight twinge of jealousy. Even at the people passing her little table made her think that it was the one, but her hopes were crushed with each one that walked past.

—≪💌≫ “ Oh. It’s um. . . You. Hi. I’m sorry for being late, Lulu and Jinx managed to

trash my closet and it wasn’t easy to find something wearable. I hope you

don’t mind my being late. “

Since she even knew the other made her feel even worse. True, they didn’t really

know each other on a personal level, but still. It was she. . . The one who had a

record for being punctual in all things.

<-🎧-> Futaba spent the next half hour listlessly building yet another Minecraft structure. It was cathartic, creating worlds of her own. Especially when she drew off of the inspiration of the Metaverse. She was in the middle of building a gigantic museum now, filled with golden sculptures and beautiful paintings.
It didn’t stop her from immediately alt-tabbing to check her mail when the alert came in, though. Finally an answer. She scanned the email, picking up choice words. Emily. That was the most important thing. She ran a background check. The studio producer. On the whole she seemed rather unremarkable, but there were rumors from ex-employees that she was haughty, acting like the entire staff was beneath her when it befitted her. Probably not to Janna herself, as the star weather woman. But to others less important? It was plausible. She’d have to to take a look into Mementos to discern for herself. If there was a Shadow, she’d help take care of it. Though that still left the question of the shadows hunting poor Janna in the real world. She bit her lip for a moment, then drafted a reply.
{Janna:
I can’t be certain, but I believe the Phantom Thieves can help with your situation. You’re most likely being drawn into another dimension through aggressive means. My team has means of dispelling the source of the darkness, however. My main concern is that the creatures are trying to get at you in this world. Would you consider letting-
She paused, thought for a moment, then continued typing.
-an associate of ours pose as an intern to keep a close eye on you? We can make sure nothing happens to you while the actual Thieves take care of the issue from another location.
Awaiting your reply,

—≪💌≫ “ No, Emily, I’m fine. I just need some peace and quiet. “

She sighed as she ushered the other woman out, shutting the door. She just

needed some time to shake off the jitters. She normally had the nerves of steal

given the fact she went out in stormy weather all the time. She heard the sound

of her email pinging and rushed over, opening it up. Okay. This made her feel

better. It seemed like she wouldn’t be alone, not in this.

       [ Dear Oracle,

I believe such a thing could easily be done. I do have an intern program

that I personally look over, so no one would be the wiser. If you send me

the info of the person that would be coming as well as a picture of them,

I could have a nametag and pass crafted for them by the time they got

                here.

                               Sincerely,

                                      Janna ]

<-🎧-> Futaba’s head snapped up from the computer, staring at the small tv in the corner of the room. She only kept it to keep an eye on the news and weather, in case there was something urgent she needed to call her stepfather about.
This urgency, though, drew her attention with a single word.
Shadows.
It was impossible, right? Shadows in the real world? She’d listened to Janna before, and even when she was being lighthearted, the weathercaster always delivered accurate information.
She pulled up her email. It wouldn’t hurt to check on this; she could explain the details to the others after she found out more. Perhaps someone in the studio’s heart had gone distorted? This could be the beginning of a big lead. It wasn’t hard to find such a famous person’s email in the first place.
{From Anonymous:
In reply to your request for aid:
Any and all details you have on these shadows, please reply with. I can’t promise you any help, but if there’s something the Phantom Thieves can do to help you, I’ll personally see to it that you’re aided.
Best regards;

—≪💌≫ “ Gods, this is awful. “

She sat down, hand shaking so bad she almost split her coffee all over her laptop.

At least. . . At least it had been closed if it was to spill all over. It had happened again,

she felt like hands were reaching from her from the very crevices in the office. Why

did they want her? Sure, she had an abnormal attunement with the weather, specifically

the wind. So far so, that she could control gusts at her whim.

She opened the laptop, having to retype her pin thrice given the fact she kept

      mistyping due to her nerves.

           Get it together Janna.

She scolded herself, opening up her email. Fanmail upon fanmail, junk upon ju --

Ooh. This was interesting. Eyes quickly scanned over the email, then quickly set

    to typing it up.

        Dear Oracle,

I’m so glad to see someone caught my distress message that doesn’t

think me insane. It started last week, where it felt like things were trying

            to draw me. . .

Somewhere, I don’t know where. To be honest, it feels like there’s an

overwhelming sense of evil here. I swear it’s coming from Emily, she

seems so dark but I fear I’m just overacting. I’m too terrified to even

sleep at night anymore. It’s like they’re hunting for me.

                               --Sincerely

                                        Janna

—≪💌≫ “ To anyone out there who knows how to deal with shadows

this forecaster is being haunted by them despite the sunny

The way her plea had been formed, she knew most of her fan base would get

a chuckle or two out of her. But hopefully she wasn’t alone. She was even

scared to sleep at night or be alone.

The keeper of the Blade of Winds? I feel like that story is familiar, but nothing comes to mind…
“I haven’t had someone bow to outside of our family home in a long time. It’s weird to see a proper bow.” Garen playfully mused. “But refreshing. You said you’re ageless? I’d have to bet that can be tiresome.”
Since she was a swordswoman an idea had spawned in Garen’s mind. With her claim to agelessness there was likely much he could learn by having a practice match with her. As both of them were professionals neither would have to use wooden swords or dulled practice blades. They’d both be able to use their proper weapons without much risk of injury.

—≪💌≫ “ It is when you’ve seen many people you care about return to the earth. “

A sigh, as she brought her blade in front of her, hands running across the sheath.

    “ How about a duel? “

“Look, there’s an easy way to keep Loops from eating them all,” Jinx started explaining, taking another bite of cookie and then finishing her plan in a series of muffled, illegible words. She stopped and swallowed, then cleared her throat.

“Give me all the cookies. I’ll eat ‘em and then Loops won’t devour them all. Easy as that!”

—≪💌≫ “ And then Poppy, Lux, or I wouldn’t get any of them. Don’t make me put those sweets under lock and key, so help me. “

It was so hard to act responsible in a house full of quirky people, herself included.

Avatar

The bowl was pretty much usable again once Jinx was done. There was chocolate and sugar at stake, so she was going to be extremely thorough. And oddly precise for those who knew her. The things she focused on tended to baffle people.

She glanced up as Janna floated upward, producing two cookies and passing them down. The redhead blinked, taking the cookies and leaving the bowl on the floor. She bit into one and then, suddenly jumped to her feet.

“What the shit, Windy? You’ve been holding out on me? How long have those cookies been there?” she exclaimed, already trying to plan her own way up to the top of the shelf. Maybe a precarious stacking of the table chairs …

—≪💌≫ “ Consider the fact that if I didn’t hide them up high and move the jar to different places, Lulu would have devoured them all by now. “

Jinx was one thing, but Lulu was an absolute menace when it came to sugar. Add in the fact of how she got if too much sugar got into her system? Nightmare fuel.

Avatar
“Jeez, you’re pretty smart for someone who grew up on the streets,” Jinx mumbled through mouthfuls of batter. Granted, she didn’t have much room to talk. Her foster parents were quite wealthy but Jinx never really spent much time at home. Or school. She practically grew up on the streets, too, though not nearly in such extreme circumstances.
“But anyway, hey, if you want to share a bed then I don’t mind. But you have your own now. So I guess it’s good, right?” she spoke, mouth leading thought instead of the other way around, more occupied with licking the bowl clean than with what she was saying.

—≪💌≫ “ Thank you for the offer. “

Maybe she’d remember that if she was plagued by nightmares again. As much as she’d known Jinx wouldn’t call much attention to Janna’s past, it still brought her relief to not hear ridicule over what she had to do to get by. In fact, even the lack of sympathy was oddly refreshing. She had stated it, the other now knew it, it was in the past, so be it.

    “ It is. “

She floated up to reach a tall shelf, the sound of clatter of a ceramic lid being removed and replaced. When she returned to the ground, she held out two large chocolate chunk cookies to the other.

     “ Here. “

Avatar
“Thirty minutes?” Jinx whined even as she took the bowl and spoon full of leftover batter. She huffed and sat down against the cupboards right there on the kitchen floor, beginning to lick the spoon clean. That was the easy job, and it was soon tossed haphazardly back onto the counter to get it out of the way.
“I don’t get it, Windy, aren’t you smart enough not to have to do this whole school thing? But you go anyway? It’s so boring! How can you stand it?” Jinx asks from her perch there on the floor as she ran her hand through the inside of the bowl, licking batter from her fingers messily.

—≪💌≫ “ Mmmm. . . “

There it was. The question that no one ever really had asked Janna. They knew she was at least in her twenties and yet she had gone through the pains of enrolling with her sisters.

“ Because I enjoy being near you girls. Plus I never got to go to school when I was growing up. I. . . Lived on the streets. I had to use my body to get by. If I didn’t share someone’s bed I would sleep out in the streets. So an opportunity to go to school, despite what I already know is refreshing to live a life that is normal. “

Avatar
Jinx grinned as she got Janna to comply. Her hand raised up to the other’s cheek and her finger brushed along it, only to reveal a glob of cake batter that had somehow gotten attached to Janna, now on Jinx’s finger.
The redhead stuck it in her mouth and sucked the sweet nectar free of her digit. “There, that’s better. Now finish that cake, I’m starving!”

—≪💌≫ “ Yes ma’am. “

She rolled her eyes, not even surprised at the gesture. Leave it to Jinx to, once again, take something that could be interpreted as a romantic action and turn it completely Jinx like. She moved over to the counter, carefully pouring batter into the greased pan. Once she was sure she had all of the needed batter out, she gave the bowl and spoon to Jinx. Pan was then set in the already prepped oven.

“ There. In twenty to thirty minutes we will have a cake. Although it’ll have to cool before I can frost it. Luckily I can cheat that a little. “

Avatar
Jinx would always answer the call when cake was involved. If that call meant receiving cake. In any form. In this case, batter.
“Yeah, and? C’mon, Gusty, bend over and come down to my level for just a second!”

—≪💌≫ “ Fine, fine. Why do I feel like I might regret this? “

Sometimes being so willowy had it’s downsides. She bent down just enough so their eyes were level with one another.

     “ Better? “

<*⛵*> “Don’t you dare. You don’t need to pay for a thing, not if I do this-”
A swipe over the reader, and the turnstile unlocked, Sarah stepping out of the way and releasing Janna’s hand.
“Go on, then, we’ll be right behind you. But I’m paying for this, Miss Winds, got it?”

—≪💌≫ “ Oh, how thoughtful of you! “

She chime, deciding not to even bother disputing this. Sarah Fortune didn’t seem the type to change on a stance of something once her mind was made up. Wallet was returned and she stepped through, looking over at the other.

“ I do have to ask, is it true you guys live in a mansion? Jinx has told me it’s quite big, but sometimes she’s been known to stretch the truth. “

Avatar
<*⛵*> “I’m not going to lie, I thought you manipulated a small bit of power to make it stand like that. But I think I like this much better.”
She reached up, using a single finger to scratch under Zephyr’s chin playfully.
“You’re a good boy, aren’t you?” She hummed, happy to have another familiar to dote upon. “Once we get on the subway, I’ll feed you a snack or two. Would you like that?”
Down the stairs they descended to the underground, Sarah tugging out her metro card to pay for both of them.

—≪💌≫ “ Oh dear, now she’s going to spoil you. Whatever shall I do? “

More laughter as Zephyr started purring, rubbing his face against Sarah’s cheek. Treats were very pleasing to him and he had never had a fruit snack before. He was in for a surprise. Janna, meanwhile, opened her purse to take out enough money to pay for the fare needed.
