How I Bond And Connect With My Tarot Decks

Connecting and bonding with a Tarot deck or oracle deck is such a fun and rewarding practice for me. There is something so special about sharing time and energy with a tool like Tarot and imbuing it with parts of yourself. While I do understand that not everyone bonds with their decks or finds the need to,  throughout my Tarot journey I have come across decks that I instantly connected to and some that I needed to spend some time bonding with first. It is my greatest hope that some of my practices within this post can aid or inspire you to try something new with your own Tarot deck.

Timeline

While I do believe that bonding with a deck can be a lifelong process, whenever I set the intention to connect with a new Tarot deck, I like to give myself a small timeline of how long I want to initially spend bonding. Sometimes this can take anywhere from a few days to upwards of a month. Though the bonding doesn’t stop after the initial exercises, I usually give myself some time specifically devoted to connecting with that deck. There isn’t really a right or wrong way to go about this.

Wake It Up

I love to shuffle my decks. Whenever I am connecting with a deck, that I want to use or get to know better I do a technique I call waking it up. I shuffle, focusing on the tactile experience of the card stock in my hands. I shuffle and cut the deck creating a flow of energy as the deck passes its way through my hands.

Story Writing

Being someone who appreciates the art of the written word,  I enjoy drafting and writing short stories for either the deck itself or the cards within the deck. This helps me connect creatively with the cards and gives me my own personal back story for each of the cards in my deck.

Naming

I like naming my decks. I think it is a fun way to honor the deck’s unique personality and character while distinguishing it from other decks in my collection. I have two of the same Tarot decks with two contrasting energies. One’s named Jacob and the other is Miley. Miley is a feisty deck and tells it like it is while Jacob always has such a calm tone about him.

Check Up

There are times when I can sense that a deck is ‘off’, tired or just heavy with external energies. I sometimes like to take the time to shuffle the deck and ask how it is feeling. This simple connection helps me assess how to move forward with the deck.

Musical Playlists

I am a huge fan of creating musical playlists for my decks or individual cards within a deck. It helps me musically connect to the cards and has helped me add a new layer to my readings.

Music Analysis

I like to use my Tarot cards to decipher deeper or hidden meanings within the music that I am listening to or the music that I am personally writing. This also helps me associate specific card sets with specific chords, melodies or even a chorus from a song.

Cheat Sheets

One of my favorite bloggers and friends @nicstoirm creates cheat sheets for each of their decks and I think it is such an ingenious way to bond and connect with the cards. I have since adapted their methods in my own practice and found great success!

Mood Boards

I am a very visual person. I like to create mood boards with royalty free stock photography for Tarot decks or specific cards to get a better understanding of the aesthetics and symbolism that I associate with each.

Secret Power Word

Whenever I have a new deck, I like to give it its own special power word or phrase. This helps to create a special link between me and the deck. If the deck is ever lost or stolen,  I can render the deck free of any and all previous energies or attempt to locate it energetically with another deck.

Deck Mods

I’m a huge fan of Tarot deck modification. While I have only edged a few decks and trimmed one, the bond I created, sitting with each card as I modified it to my own needs is something I wouldn’t ever trade for the world. It is such a personal process but I love it. I am also a fan of doodling and writing on my cards, especially ones that have chopped borders. :)

Card Of The Day And Night

One of the first bonding techniques I ever learned was to pull a card for myself every day. I like to pull a card in the morning to set my intentions for the day and one card at night to read about my day retrospectively.

Photography

If you have been on my blog for any length of time you know that I love photographing my cards. It helps me analyze the cards from a photographers lens while giving me the chance to showcase the different moods in what I am trying to share with the cards within a stylized setup.

Poetry and Prose Writing

I love writing poetry and prose pieces with my cards. There is something so visceral about relaying my words with the messages and images of the cards in a creative way. It is my most “at home” and most used bonding technique.

Perfumery Blends

I am a huge fan of creating custom incense and oil blends for each of my decks. Delving deep into the feeling and the essence of the deck and creating a scent for it, is such a magical process that I thoroughly enjoy.

Deck Interviews

I don’t usually do deck interview spreads to bond with a new deck.  I do them after I have been using a Tarot deck for a while and have grown accustomed to the deck and how it likes to work with me. I found that trying to do an interview spread that could either positively or negatively set the tone for my relationship and usage with the deck was counterintuitive to how I work as a reader and not something I was interested in. I prefer for the deck and I to warm up to each other beforehand.  I now do deck interviews after I have interacted with the deck and want to check up on how our bonding is going.

Letter Writing

I love letter writing. I like to write letters to my decks and discuss how much they mean to me, how I have grown as a reader and person from its use and where I see our deck relationship going. It is a very beautiful process.

Sigil Creation

Each of my decks has its own custom sigil that I mark on the deck in a hidden area. This helps to fuse my energy to the deck and keep it protected from any wayward energies.

Spread Creation

I like to create custom spreads based on the deck itself. For example, I have a Bright And Airy spread for my Vivid Journey Tarot because it is such a high-intensity deck for me. Creating a spread that is deck specific is a really cool way to tap into the deck’s strength when performing a reading.

Give Your Deck A Home

I love deck bags and boxes. I think they are such cool ways to show your style as a reader and also keep your deck in something really pretty. If you create your own deck bags, I think this would be an awesome way to bond with your deck. Whenever I get a new deck, I like to shop around for the perfect vessel to put it in. I am always excited when I find the perfect match.

Imprinting And Marking

I like to energetically connect and mark my decks as I use them. To me, this creates a connection to my energy and a hub of power I can tap into when I am doing readings. Marking my decks also protects my deck from anyone else trying to use my deck without my permission or trying to tap into my energies without my permission.

Singing And Talking

I love to sing to my decks. I am known to put some Beyonce on full volume and just have a music session with my cards. On days when I am feeling chatty, I like to have conversations with my cards and have the deck respond to me with the symbols in the cards.

Keyword Associations

Creating your own keywords and associations to your cards is such a vital part of Tarot learning but is also a great way of bonding with your decks. Whenever I create my own word associations for each of the cards in my deck, I give myself permission to read how I want to read, without apology.

Using The Book

I love when decks come with guidebooks that were written by the artist. There is something so special when reading through the artists own interpretations and reasoning behind the symbolism found in a deck. Whenever I find interesting symbology from a guidebook, it helps me bond deeper to the meaning of the card.

Meditation

I am one of those people that enjoys meditating with my Tarot cards as a bonding exercise. There is something so rewarding about being able to step into a card, look around and interact with its energies. One of my favorite decks that I meditate with is the Mary-El Tarot. I meditated with all 78 cards and the bond that that deck and I share is remarkable.

Tarot Fashion

I like to create Tarot inspired outfits with the help of my cards. It is both fun and interesting using my deck and coming up with new outfit combinations based on the suggestions of the cards.

Date Night

I love Tarot date night. Sometimes I will go to a bar or coffee shop that I recently had permission to read at and give free readings. Other times I will invite some friends over and we gossip with the cards over some wine. Then there are those days where I am on Amazon in my bed with some ice cream and I am using my decks to help me pick out more decks. The date night ideas are endless.

Quotes And Lyrics

I love associating some of my favorite quotes or song lyrics with a card in my Tarot deck. I also like to find other cards that mirror or amplify that quotes meaning and then go through my deck and find cards that are opposite or conflict the meaning to compare and contrast ideas. I first learned about this method in high school when we would write persuasive essays and adapted it to my deck bonding repertoire.  This helps give a duality to the meanings of the quote or lyric I associated with a card and provides me with a well-rounded sense of what the card means to me.

Compare And Contrast

I like to take two or more decks and compare and contrast the different art styles and symbolism for each of the cards. It is so interesting seeing how different artists interpret the cards and what symbols each respective deck shares and where they are vastly different.

Daily Routine

I like to make it a habit to take a Tarot deck with me wherever I go. I find that when I am particularly bonding with a specific deck, having it accessible to me throughout the day helps me reach for it more and use it, furthering the bonding process.

Bullet Journals And Planners

My friend @rosaofswords has such unique and creative bullet journals that she incorporates her Tarot use and study into. Seeing how she works, helped me to adapt a daily plan to bond with my decks in an organized fashion. While I am still new to bullet journaling, I find that utilizing this method for bonding has helped me so much in keeping track of things like deck usage and cards of the day which help in my connecting to a deck process.

Practice Readings

I find it funny that when I first mentioned this technique in one of the Tarot groups I was in, I was told that using a deck right away would be counter-intuitive to bonding with it. I find the exact opposite to be true for me. By doing practice readings with a deck for myself and others, I get to know the vibe of the deck and how it responds to certain questions and its personality all throughout the process of doing readings.

Divination Challenges

I am a firm believer that Divination Challenges are invaluable resources to Tarot learners and seasoned readers alike. There is something so wonderful about coming together with a group of like-minded people and using your cards in creative ways throughout a specific period of time. This would have to be one of my top favorite ways of bonding with a Tarot deck.

Scope Of Life Experiences

Something that I am doing more frequently in my deck bonding process is relating each card in a deck to a personal meaning, philosophy or ideology I have. I have also started finding correlations between certain cards and people I know in my life. Utilizing those facets of my life helps pull in what I personally know and believe into the cards themselves.

Associated Comfort

Being someone with chronic illnesses, I like to keep comfort items at my disposal whenever I need them. One cool way that I bond with my decks is to associate a card or the whole deck’s energy with one of my comfort items.

Emojis Correspondences

I like to look at a single card or set of cards and create an emoji series that corresponds with them. It is a fun and accessible way for me to use modern technology in my deck bonding process.

Heartfelt Energy Exchange

I have Tarot decks that are more motherly and nurturing in nature and for those types of decks I usually put the deck close to my heart and feel the energy exchange between us both. It is a slow and emotional process for me but it is almost always one of the most rewarding.

Gifts And Offerings

While I don’t personally subscribe to the belief in deck spirits or card spirits, I know that some people do and that is perfectly okay.  I do however believe that each deck in my collection has its own unique energy. To bond with that energy, I provide it with a suitable offering. Sometimes the offerings are crystals, coins, jewelry, secrets, etc. When I received my Dreaming Way Tarot deck in the mail, I had also ordered a rose quartz crystal that arrived at the same time. For some reason, I knew that that deck and crystal were meant to be together. I offered the Rose Quartz crystal as an offering to my deck and keep it near it at all times.

Deck Partners

I am a huge fan of using Deck Combinations and using multiple decks within a single reading. For those who are unfamiliar, deck combinations are two or more separate decks that compliment each other well or contrast each other but work well together. I like to find deck combinations for each of my decks. As I compare the two or more decks, I begin to obtain a better grasp of the deck as a whole and the cards as standalone energies.

Card Siblings

Similarly to deck partners, I like to go through my deck and find card siblings or cards that have a similar meaning, feel or symbolism within that particular deck itself. I also like to find cards that deeply contrast that meaning, feeling or symbolism because no two siblings are ever truly alike and it is those differences that causes this bonding method to be so worthwhile.

Sleep

Although sleeping with my deck has never worked for me because I move around too much in my sleep, I do however create a nighttime ritual of keeping my deck on my nightside table, on top of a clear glass with some crystals inside. This helps me to connect with my deck in the dream realm and also act as a filter of its energies.

Go To The Past

I like time travel, what can I say? I do this two ways. The first method is I take out my family photos and find cards that remind me or match to the cards meaning or energy. The second method is I research a past event and find cards that tell a story of that event.

Go To The Present

I look around my room, city, school etc and find places, events, people that remind me of tarot. I also look at the news or a current event that has recently happened that day and relay it to my Tarot cards.

Go To The Future

I go to my phone’s calendar, pick a date in the future and create a story of what might happen on said day with my Tarot cards.

Pray

I use bibliomancy with my Bible and use my tarot cards to recreate the message provided. I also use my decks to create a visual of my prayers but in Tarot card form.

Dedication

I’ve mentioned before that I utilize one of my decks to talk to God. I find that one way to bond with a deck is by dedicating it to a purpose, deity, a specific area of your life, etc. I don’t do this for all my decks but I still find this process super beneficial when I do use it.

Face Up Reveal

Whenever I bring home a new deck of cards, I like to go through the cards face up and admire the artwork of the deck. While doing this, I take note of the cards that create a stimulating reaction for me be it positively or negatively. I also like to relay each card to an emotion, scene or memory. This helps me tap into the energy that the deck gives me in its first impressions.

Smell

I know. I know. I’m a weird person that smells their cards but there is something so oddly satisfying about a new deck smell. I find that each deck has its own unique scent signature which I tap into.

Tarot Journal

I had such a big struggle starting and keeping a Tarot journal when I first started my divination journey. I never could keep up with it. I later created what I call my “catch all” Tarot journal. In it I put my favorite quotes or symbols within cards and my thoughts on specific readings. It isn’t your traditional tarot journal by any means but it works for me and that’s all that matters. You can use your journal for so many things like recording readings, writing down predictions, your deck inventory, etc.

Put It Away…For Now

I would be lying if I said that I had wonderful connections with all my Tarot decks. That isn’t the case at all. I have decks that I love but some of them do not read well for me and that is perfectly okay. You do not need to force a connection if one is not there. You also do not have to feel bad about not having a connection with a deck even if you tried bonding with it several times. Sometimes there are certain decks that we understand and can use instantly, and some that we can’t use at all. What I like to do is take some time away from that particular deck and try again. If it still doesn’t connect with me, I bring it out at a different point in the year and try again.

So You Wanna Astral Project!

I’ve been astral projecting for a long time now, and I do it at least 4 times a week, probably more. I think I have a problem. Anyway. Here are a few tips on what to do, what not to do, etc for all ya’ll trying to get into astral travel. A few of the things have links for places to find more information, ideas, and stuff.

1. You’re Captain America- get yoself a shield. I use 2 shields when I project, both protective spirals. Basically, when you’re projecting your body is left unprotected by your spirit so you need something else to protect you. Use any shield you like. I use one that protects my body from anything harmful (visualised as rose petals swirling around me- it just seemed right) and another that repels anything harmful away from me (visualised as bright lights, almost painful to look at). Sometimes, when I get bad vibes, I’ll use more and more until I feel safe. LAYER LAYER LAYER. A shield can only do one thing at a time, so if you want multiple protective actions then use more than one. You’ll know when you’ve got enough, as when you try to project you’ll feel safer.

2. Failure is ok. Honestly, I couldn’t project last night. It was hard and my brain just couldn’t get the focus and I couldn’t visualise anything. It just didn’t work, and that’s ok. Sometimes it’ll be too much for you, don’t force anything or beat yourself up over it. Stop what you’re doing, stretch your muscles and try again later. I usually wait at least until the next night (I always project at night) when I’ve found something a little too difficult. It gives me time to rest and to do some grounding.

3. You’re going into Narnia. What does that mean??- imagine a door! I spent a long time trying and trying to project into the astral realm until I realised that I simply had to open a door!! When I project, I visualise a white void full of different doors to different places on the astral realm, I walk around and find my own door or draw it to me. I turn the handle, walk through and BOOM astral realm. This can take a while and it’s hard at first, when I first tried this method I found the door, put my hand on the handle and got thrown out back into my body again. Take your time, practice and you’ll get there.

4. FFS DON’T GET LOST. When you first manage to get through the door, don’t go too far. Take your time exploring what’s around you, and anyway, it’s more fun to find every little thing that’s in the astral than just barrelling through at 100000mph and missing it. I found one of my spirit companions, A, while slowly going through this tiny patch of forest that exists in my plane. If you do go a little far, which I have done before, I looked at my wrist and found a red string wrapped around it. I followed the string back to the door. Simple.

5. Block out everything. I use white noise of a thunder storm for this, but anything will do. ‘8 Hours of’ is a good youtube channel with lots of different options for white noise. Don’t astral project for the 8 hours, but the sounds are awesome and there’s no ads that’ll interupt you.

6. Find a mirror. Not because you’re the bloody evil queen in Snow White, but because you’ll want to know what you’re astral form looks like. Go searching, use your mind’s “eye” and listen for it, you’ll know where it is. Stand in front of it and look. Don’t be afraid of what you see, your astral form might be quite different from your physical one. As someone who’s agender, my astral form is completely androgynous, but also has giant horns and 6 ENORMOUS black wings that can wrap around me and form some sort of cloak-dress-robe-thing. Yuup, it was a surprise. Just accept that this is your form, and as it’s based on your spirit, you’ll probably like it no matter what.

7. Have any deities?? You might meet them here. I worship the gaelic goddess Brighid, as well as Persephone and Hades and I’ve met them when astral projecting a few times. You can spend time with them in the astral, get to know them and even give them offerings. There is a huge area of my astral plane that is completely dead- like Pride Rock under Scar dead- and I’m currently trying to regrow it. I’ve so far grown a huge oak tree in the centre and made a pasture for Brighid as she likes to keep cattle. Hades, for some reason, wants a massive waterfall and Persephone just wants flowers- which I’ll be doing for them soon. I’ve also seen Mac Lir and Poseidon walking together off on the horizon of the ocean. I just let them do their thing.

8. Don’t upset Brendon Urie- CLOSE THE GODDAMN DOOR! You enter the astral through a door, close it behind you so that nothing gets out. When you leave, close the door extra carefully, don’t look back at it as you walk away. Close it and then leave.

9. Be careful when you’re out. When you re-enter your body it may feel weird, you might get pins-and-needles or your limbs may feel heavy or numb. Just sit or lay there for a while, give yourself time to ground and get comfortable in your body again, don’t sit up or start walking about the moment you leave the astral. Let your shields come down ONLY when you’re certain you’ve completely re-entered your body. Stretch a little and then get up. Go about your day, have a nap, go to bed, whatever you want to do.

Feel free to add your own!!!!

Tumblr: *rolls out “best stuff first”*

My blog:

on the one hand this is a joke post because lol i have never made a good post in my life, but also, if i hadn’t made the connection between this update and my sudden nosedive in activity, i would have been really fucking discouraged about all the shit i’ve been working on lately. i guarantee there are people on tumblr right now who haven’t made that connection, and who are trying to figure out why suddenly no one likes anything they’ve made. and that fucking sucks.

Reminder to go into your settings and turn off ‘Best Stuff First’ because my activity’s tanked a couple days ago for no reason so this stuff IS happening.

You WILL miss content with that setting on.

i ain’t joking when i say that my activity looks JUST like this too and i wasn’t sure why

I can only find the option on the app under Settings > Dashboard Preferences.

To support content creators do us a favour and turn off “Best stuff first”. Open the tumblr app (Android or iOs) and go to “Settings > Dashboard Preferences. And please reblog this post, so that everybody will see this. Thank you very much!

I assumed I just wasn’t writing very well, but maybe it’s not just me.

Am I supposed to pay to get my writing in front of followers now?

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled sci-fi content because this is important for app users, and it sucks. We all follow blogs because we want to see their content, not to have a crappy algorithm decide what’s best.

This blog is down approximately 80%, which doesn’t affect me other than as an annoyance (as this is a hobby and @okayto is small-ish) but the issue undoubtedly hurts others.

Below are instructions for turning it off. You have to do it individually–it doesn’t matter if a blog you follow turns it off, you’ll still be affected unless you do the same.

We don’t normally reblog PSAs, but this is very clearly affecting us, too! If you haven’t been getting your daily dose of RPG humor, this setting is probably why. Turn it off so you can see all the silly shit players say!

It makes me pretty sad that people still bash Christian witches.

I feel it’s especially more sad when it comes from Christians, because you think they’d know the history of their Bible and its translations.

Regardless…

I am a supporter of Christian witches, pagans, and magic users - now and forever!

It’s also pretty sad how many times I must need make this post, but I will continue to stand by those who are Christian and magical, for as long as people keep sending them hate and threats.

Spoonie Witch Tips: Cleansing

Cleansing is important. Whether it be after a spell or ritual or just maintenance, a good cleansing can keep icky vibes out of your space while also lifting and promoting good vibes. (I’ve also noticed that cleansing works especially well for keeping the spookies that are attracted by my depression away. More on that later.)

I don’t know about everyone else, but sometimes I just don’t have the spoons to get out of bed, let alone cleanse my house on the regular. Over the course of my practice, I’ve compiled a few low maintenance ways to cleanse my space and I wanted to share them with my fellow spoonie witches.

Low Energy Cleansing Methods

1) Open the windows. Let the air come in and sweep away all of the stagnant and gross energy that’s lurking in your space. A bonus to this is that fresh air will get into all of the cracks and crevices, so it’s really thorough.

2) If you have an oil burner or diffuser, pop in some rosemary, eucalyptus, and lavender oil (if you have a burner, you can find these oils for under $5 at Walmart. If you have a diffuser, check Amazon for the most efficient option for you). These oils have seriously cleansing and protection properties, especially when paired together. If you’re using a diffuser, you can also use some charged water (sun, moon, etc) to help boost the energy.

3) Don’t want to make a cleansing spray or whatever? I feel you, friend. Take yourself to Walmart or your local dollar store and buy some air freshener. If possible, try to choose a scent you associate with cleansing. I like Air Glade Lavender and Chamomile. I pretty much just spray it while telling it to cleanse the space. It also smells nice, so bonus. This is a good one for the closet witches out there!

4) Himalayan salt lamps. Seriously, just turning them on and asking the element of Earth to cleanse the space works for me.

5) A salt water spray for those who are not open about their work. You can also add a little bit of vinegar or lemon to boost the cleaning properties of the spray. I like to add lemon juice, some rosemary, and holy water to mine.

6) Literally, just small bowls of salt around your space. In my own practice, I’ve found this also helps ward and fight off the spookies that are attracted to my depression and anxiety. It doubles as a cleanser and ward, so I make use of this often.

7) Music is a powerful tool. There are whole YouTube channels dedicated to this purpose, so finding a tune you like may take a little time, but at least you’ll have options. I like to use the wind chime sounds.

8) Light a candle. Sometimes I choose a scent associated with cleansing (lilac is good for cleansing and exorcisms, lavender is cleansing and protection, and any scent named after sunshine makes me think of cleansing and healing), other times I just light a white candle and visualize its light consuming all of the darkness in the room, clearing out all of the crap.

9) Get some plants. I don’t know what it is about having plant babies, but they cleanse and raise a space’s vibes like no one’s business. Look into cactuses, succulents, and other starter plants!

10) My personal favorite? Opening the windows and doors to my space and telling the bad vibes that they don’t have to go home, but they can’t stay here, aka the GTFO method. This is probably best paired with another method, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t use this one frequently.

I hope this helps some people out there! Again, I just wanted to share some things I’ve learned work for me and my situation. You might find that you prefer some methods to others or that you need to tweak them- and that’s okay! Do what works for you, your spoons, and your practice. 💖🌌

Shout out to LGBTQA+ witches. Just because some things about witchcraft are incredibly biased does not mean that they are the only way to practice.

Shout out to witches of color. Just because witchy pictures tend to use strictly pale white or white passing folks doesn’t mean that we don’t love you as much.

Shout out to Christian, Jewish, and Muslim witches. You guys can get quite a bit of hate in the witchcraft community, and a couple of those religions outside it, too. You guys are wonderful people, and amazing witches.

Shout out to disabled witches that have to modify rituals and spells to work for them.

Shout out to plus sized witches. You’re v attractive and spectacular witches.

Shout out to male witches, especially trans male witches. You’re rocking it, even if some people are assholes about it. Anyone can be a witch, after all.

Just because you don’t fit the witchcraft norm here on Tumblr doesn’t make you any less of a witch. You’re a damn good one, too.

Here’s to the witches...

The Satanist Witches.  Who are constantly thrown under the bus by witches who don’t want to associate with you because they want people to know they’re not “evil”.

The Atheist/Secular Witches.  Who have trouble finding spells suited to their beliefs because most other witches insist on calling on gods or goddesses.

The Abrahamic Witches.  Who are constantly told their paths aren’t valid by people of their religion and witches alike.

The Trans/non-binary Witches.  Who have a hard time finding representation in religion and the craft.  Who are excluded from covens solely due to how they were born

To Non-Wiccan Witches.  Who constantly need to remind people that witch is not synonymous with Wicca.

Y’all are wonderful.  Keep being awesome witches!

Anonymous asked:

Before you defend males being witches I think you need to step back and realize why people are hesitant about involving males in witchcraft. Historically males were the ones burning and murdering females for witchcraft. It's no coincidence why women are more strongly associated with life/death, magic, etc. It's not transphobic to say this and that men deserve no acceptance in something women were persecuted (and in some areas still are). Women own witchcraft.

I’m sorry if you thought you’d be informing me of something I had no clue of,  but earnestly this whole “Women own witchcraft” is the very most idiotic, Euro centric argument I have ever heard in Witch Discourse.

You need to get off your racist, sexist high horse right this instant.

I’ve done research and experienced witchcraft in my own culture and have knowledge of the witch hunts of the 1600s. It’s not a case of “The evil males murdering women!!!” It was a case of both women and men who used their religion to murder people horrifically and senselessly out of ignorance and fear. Both genders were the perpetrators and victims, both genders were the victims. Some women are more in tune to their spirituality and open to witchcraft due to the way western culture has brought women and men act. In other cultures, men are more likely to be spiritual leaders, or it may be perfectly egalitarian.

Saying that women own witchcraft because men in their culture fucked shit up for witches is essentially saying that atheists and pagans alone own witchcraft because Christians fucked shit up for witches.

Saying that women own witchcraft is like saying that poc own witchcraft because of imperialism’s damage to poc’s culture.

Saying that women own witchcraft is like saying that only people born to witch families own witchcraft.

Inherently, all people, males included, have the same amount of spiritual potential and energy. The way some people’s witchcraft works is recognizing that we are all witches, we are all beings with energies and spirituality and we choose to develop and partake in our own. Blocking off half the population for crimes they did not commit is disgusting.

Not to mention how GODDAMN RACIST THIS IS!

I come from Miami, and in Miami I’ve experienced a lot of the Santeria culture. Here, people mostly talk about it when there’s dead chickens washing up on shores after sacrifices or when dead animals are dropped off in bags at the courthouse, and I’m going to assume that you think witchcraft is revamped spells from the 1600s where animal bones are cutely replaced with some other herb followed by crystals sitting on the shelf.

However..

Santería is a culture of witches. Santería is very valid witchcraft, it is sometimes bloody and not cute and not adapted to Western Culture but that is the goddamn point. There are males that practice witchcraft in this culture, in fact leaders of all genders.

Native Indigenous culture have had Shamanism and related spiritualistic religions, there are so many tribes where witchcraft comes in the forms of women, men and non binary people such as the complex Two Spirit identity doing rituals, sacrifices, meditations… witchcraft is the practice of magick, and guess who practices magick?

These babies! See the things in grey! Those are called non western civilizations! Theses are places where thousands of individual communities exist, all with their own religions and native cultures! And most of them have all practiced some form of magick! Both men and women and non binary people!

If you’re a crystal witch, male or female or nonbinary Shamans probably made or sold you your crystals. Your lore could be from a Jewish Rabbi, of Jewish Mysticism. Or the Muslim intertwining of pagan and occultism. Or it could be the literal God Of Witchcraft, Thoth, in Egyptian culture. It could be an Alchemist, such as Gilles de Rais or Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, all males murdered for their practicing witchcraft. The masks and skulls bought may very well be from Ghana tribes that were used as Talismans, or certain artifacts and rituals may come from Benin, West African tribes and communities.

You do not, never have, never will own witchcraft. No one ever will. And if you think men should be excluded, then only female, magick inherited African tribes victim to imperialism should own witchcraft.

Thank you for reading, and fuck Euro Centric supremacy.

I have PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder that my neuropsychologist has theorized has been active and that I’ve been struggling against for several years.

I’m still exploring witchcraft, and I use bath magic to help me recenter when I have the time/energy for it.

Witchcraft PSA

If you are a witch, and think you cannot afford herbs, crystals, or essential oils  PLEASE visit these sites!!

It is BY FAR the best out of any place I’ve seen! Don’t go on Amazon, don’t go on Etsy.  Those sites are grossly over priced.  I see a lot of people trying to sell stuff for WAY MORE than it’s worth and it really makes me mad.

I mean, $2.50 for an ounce of Lavender flowers from France!

OR go to Mountain Rose Herbs. You can save $1.00 by buying lavender there.  (They sell it for $9.00 for 4oz.)  They’re prices for herbs are great, too!

Spirit Apothecary has better prices for essential oils though- for example: Bergamot Essential Oil is $8.00 @ S.A. for 1/3 oz.  it costs $16.50 @ M.R.H. for ½ oz.  That’s over twice the price, but you don’t get twice as much, so I get all essential Oils at S.A.

MRH doesn’t sell, crystals, but SA does.  They are good quality and by far the most inexpensive.  Also they both have a facebook page.

If you really want to buy herbs, oils, and crystals, but think you can’t afford them, PLEASE, PLEASE check these sites out!!
